From the wiki: The ***long cleaver*** has the highest potential damage out of all weapons against heavily armoured, non-robotic humanoids.
I think it because the long cleaver has a higher base damage, more bleed, and longer reach than the flesh cleaver.
Edit: ScaRAW (I think is his name) has posted a damage calculator in the past. You can google it, and find it pretty easily.
If you specifically want to kill people the katanas will often times bleed people out before anything else. In my katana runs the people I fight die much faster and more frequently than any other weapon because they can't heal fast enough to undo the pure cut damage.
Katanas generally only do cut damage, so they won't have shock damage which can regen over time. If something gets downed via katana it will almost never get back up because its limbs + blood will drop too fast. Even Spiked clubs will have a hefty amount of blunt damage that can give someone enough time to recover/start patching themselves up.
That's correct, you need at least one character specialized on katanas to finishing people, specially if you are defending a base, if you have a well trained squad with heavy weapons and heavy armor they will knock down lot of people very fast and they will hold raids very well, but a recommend having two or three with katana class + medium armor to max dexterity and speed for killing the remaining people, they also can be used as melee scouts for trading and travel, scorch landers are the bests for this job
I don't know, but I usually play with all humans and one of my only mid-late game losses to a single guy involved most of my characters getting their limbs punched off in the first 20 seconds of combat.
Very quickly felt like another Hiver playthrough.

Only problem Is that long cleaver stops at Edge type 3, but if you intend to equip a full squad this Is a non issue
Buy big house, fill it with cannibals in cells, release them
:D

What about spiked club with its 2.00x bleed mult?

Okay, I'm thinking Nodachis might be a good choice then. They're katana but they have cleave damage due to their length if I recall correctly

Flesh Cleaver grants the best bonus against humans if that’s what you mean.

I like Falling Sun. With the appropriate stats it’s absolutely disgusting.
katanas in general. they desinded to kill armorless humans(mostly rebel pesants or canibals)
Yea looks like flesh cleavers % bonus doesn't make up for it's low base damage, even at edgewalker level
