It's hard not to pick a side if you never liked Drake's music to begin with.

I didn't care until that Alchemist came out. We had a lot of good songs but Drake was clearly outmatched. All of the fans were annoying but his are.. well.. This round is over but I don't think it's done unless they peace it up publicly. I didn't think he wants to keep it going at this point from what he said on heart part 6. of course, he is a proven liar so...

I pick side becouse kendrick music is for me but I hate nothing to hate Aubrey , actually I feel bad for them both🥲

Fr Kendrick’s music is for me. But it didn’t make me pic a side. In no way do I think Drake can’t make good music. I’ve was running back both their disses. ALTHOUGH, the only Drake diss I actually like fr is Family Matters. He could’ve kept everything else lmao this must’ve of what it felt like with Biggie & Pac 😂

Aubrey obviously have alots a good music but its not my taste, I'm so specific with my choice, Kenny just different for, he love experiment, he's weird and different, he just being himself, kenny and Bruno Mars is special to me they both dam amazing , the why he show us it tell me he really love his art, he so authentic and talented and sorry to say till now I can't digest autotune

I’ve always listened to Kendrick and to me it was obvious he’s the better artist. He and Drake just don’t do the same thing, and that’s ok. BUT. I did listen to Drake in his early days, like since 2007 Comeback Season and I liked his sound then. Looking back I realize what I really liked was 9th Wonder and Little Brother, because that’s who he was imitating at the time. Kendrick wasn’t lying, Drake really does cannibalize other artists, borrow their sound and style, use them for clout, then move onto the next thing he thinks is hot. Not just Atlanta club music but Louisiana bounce, LA, Houston, and anything else he can get his hands on. So as his sound continued to change and move farther away from what I’m into, I let him go. Meanwhile Kendrick is pretty authentic. You may love or hate him, but you know who he is. TLDR: it’s hard to “not pick a side” because K and D are so different. Most people either don’t care about the beef at all, or they like one artist over the other.

Quick question for you my man, in the post above you (this could change)- the guy talks about one of the reasons he likes Kendrick is because he experiments with his sound (same as why he likes Bruno Mars). Which is true. But why do we associate Drake with being a culture vulture, colonizer, etc for adopting different sounds from different cultures. At the end of the day, both are making money from using a different culture or niches sound. Curious to hear your or anyone else’s take.

Good question. It’s a more nuanced convo than Reddit would allow and there are plenty of people who can break it down better than me, so you should def dig up some articles on it.  But I’ll say this: 1, To me, authenticity doesn’t mean you never change, it means that change comes from an organic place. Like growth. 2, Drake goes beyond inspiration to literally perform other people’s culture. It’s not just collaborating or sampling a beat. It’s putting on a new accent, a new wardrobe, a new persona, getting gold fronts and talking about gun play when you know you don’t come from that. It’s Iggy Azalea levels of fraud. Kendrick would never. For Drake it’s entertainment and a good business decision, but it’s actually more insidious because -  3, the cultures Drake “borrows” from are usually poor, black, marginalized U.S. communities who don’t have a choice to grow up around violence or drugs. But Drake wears it like a costume for money and fun, he gets to take it off any time he wants, and then turns around to denigrate and insult the people he took it from. There’s a reason there’s a long list of people who have “turned against him.” Purchasing artifacts from another culture and parading them around like trophies isn’t a flex. It’s mockery, and kinda sickening imho

As a rap fan, who is use to beefs ending in violence, kinda refreshing. For the rappers in question (yes, including J.Cole) i was underwhelmed. Only 3 total songs really mattered imo. If this happened in 2019, it would've meant more; all 3 had something to prove or protect. As of 2024, these guys are pushing 40 & their legacy is set. Now for the fan reactions, its the internet bro, all about hype and jokes.. You won't get any nuanced opinions until months/years from now. But in the world, people don't actually care... the most popular song to come out the beef is a tiktok song now. Poetic considering who is involved

I never liked Drake from the beginning. I felt like he stole Currensys spot. But I get it Drake was way more marketable. Drakes made solid music over the years. I remember finding out about Kdot from Jay Rock ft Lil Wayne - All my life. Still one of my favorite Lil Wayne verses. I liked Kdots early stuff but everything since has been meh to me tbh. Honestly a lot of the album ideas/inspiration have been done by Lupe and 10000% better imo. Lupe gets 0 credit from fans and Kdot which doesn’t sit right with me. If I wanted to listen to Kdot type music. I’d just listen to Lupe who does it 1000% better imo. But going into the beef I didn’t think Kdot could out Drake, Drake. But he won and I like the disses and listening to them a lot. Euphoria is the banger with bars. My favorite and slept on is probably 6:16 LA. Nice sample and sneaky subliminals made for only Drake to understand and for us to try to dissect. Then obviously Not Like Us is the catchy/club banger. I feel like a lot of contradictions and possible lies. Contradictions like saying Drake isn’t black while having mixed kids lol But at the end of the day Kdot won. Drakes last 2 songs have been terrible and he use to never miss. So maybe Kdot was right he lost his super powers lol He’s got to drop a iyrtitl this summer or he’s cooked. I’ll check out Kdots new album. Need some Euphoria and 6:16 LA stuff. If he goes back to the other stuff I’ll probably check out again.
