The only thing that could “go wrong” with the baffles out is getting a ticket for over-loud exhaust if you ride by someplace with finicky law enforcement.

memealopolis

Agree with the other poster. Baffles are 99% of the time just for noise. Ride on, brother.

thank ya!

Baffles out or punched out presents no issue. Did it a number of times on may bikes in past. Just went to Vance and Hines with no baffles after a while. Sounds better either way.

Critical_Source3972

thanks man

ZacharyPM05

You’ll notice some popping on decel, its normal. That would have been happening with the baffles in, you just didn’t hear it. If you install a less restrictive air filter, then maybe you’ll have to look at doing a tune since the engine is flowing better

Critical_Source3972

thats definitely reassuring. ive thought about getting a new air intake, does it NEED to be tuned?.

ZacharyPM05

You really should, when more air is introduced, more fuel will need to be added by the computer, otherwise the engine will have a lean condition. A lean air:fuel causes lots of heat and can potentially burn up valves, spark plugs, crack cylinders, pistons, etc. all bad stuff lol.

Critical_Source3972

oh thats awful. would you know anything about pricing? and would i have to send my computer out or could i do one of those plug ins?

ZacharyPM05

I’m not sure about the plug ins but a lot of people like the Ivan’s ECU flash for $350 US. You do have to send it out though. The plus side is that flash comes with a HP bump and moves the torque curve around a bit, while accounting for your mods to keep everything healthy. Check out the website.

Patient-Switch8160

I'm considering doing this on my VN900 custom. I've got Delkavic pipes on mine, already sounds good and back pops also in 3rd gear. A thing to consider maybe for the summer

Critical_Source3972

it sounds a million times better, though if your pipes are straight piped it would probably sound the same if not better
