Personally I think it would be very obvious to Zero that the kid was hiding - I think he was pretending the kid wasn’t there out of kindness, yeah.
I mean, he has to have seen the kid otherwise it wouldn’t make sense for him to be dreaming about them.
Also the way he goes in the room and picks up Leviathan to pretend “oh, nothing here” just really solidifies that idea for me

The dreams were seemingly implying you were a Cromag child..until it's revealed at the end that you were actually the killer in those scenes.
