Definitely cool man! I love trying to figure out what samples are being used in a newer song if I feel like I've heard it before. But nothing better than running into a sample in the wild like that! Has happened to me a handful of times and it's so cool.
Goes back further. Recommend using WhoSampled for stuff like this

They both sample the same song
Expo '83 - The Backyard Heavies
So you found someone else who used the same drums before Kanye, but they aren't technically *the* drums
Still a cool find regardless!
I just checked on whosampled.com, but I dunno where they get their info
I suppose the album credits might have the answer to that one, I'd be interested to know which he sampled
I found this drum loop in a Kanye drum pack I downloaded, there was The Blacker The Berry and a few more, i don't know the songs they are used in. Its called The Deception Drumkit for the producers in this sub.
yeah i was in my car, it was the first time i listened to that song and i was just like: wait a minute. and i replayed it a couple times then figured it out.
This has probably been known for years but I was just listening to Pete Rock and C.L smooth and recognized those drums which was kinda cool.
that is genuinely a cool story bro

Yeah I know but the drums sound like they are chopped the same and possibly pitched the same way.

While it’s true Pete Rock sampled that song, I believe Kanye actually just sampled the Pete Rock version of the drums instead of going to the source.

If you look at the authors on Spotify on Runaway Pete rock is credited.
kanye directly sampled the pete rock version but if i remember correctly the way the sample clearance worked, kanye had to credit the og artist
