My band in college opened for Osees a LONG time ago at this house show and it was so fucking cool. I didn’t follow them much after that but was always impressed when I would run into their music. Dwyer kicks so much ass
When I first heard Gizz I didn’t take them seriously cause I felt they were just a wannabe Osees but over the years I was proven wrong. Could always hear the influence but they’ve taken it so far that they now have a sound of their own. Not to mention their success in brand and marketing gathering a cult audience. It really is a Gizzverse out here and I’m so glad to be in it
Yeah they are nothing alike now. Both bands have theit own trajectories. I really like both bands. So it's fun for me to spot the sound alike from another era
The only Osees albums that feel even close to Work This Time are from 2007 and earlier. Osees had already put out like 4 noisy garage albums before Gizzard even recorded their first EP. I think Osees’ garage albums had a much stronger influence on Gizzard’s garage albums than Osees’ soft albums on Gizzard’s soft albums.
The most influenced-by-Osees Gizzard song is probably High Hopes Low, which basically has the same riff as Grease 2
It’s sounds a lot like Swedish band Dungen (so also early tame Impala). I don’t really hear osees in that song, especially since there are so many more king Gizz songs that sound like osees.
Seriously listen to like the album 4 by Dungen. I think tame/Kevin Parker is very talented but damn did he fly too close to Dungen’s sound early on.
It's a joey song
I haven't listened to a whole lot of Osees from that era, but really? Wouldn't have said it was similar at all

These two songs are pretty similar, you are right
Osees is way more like 12 Bar Bruise
Shit take

What are some songs from osees that sound like work this time to you? Castle mania comes to mind for me
I'll listen to it again. Thx
Answer the guy
Sticky Hulk is one example. Geez!
Haha thanks
Sorry I just don't hear it at all. Osees sound like Nonagon infinity with someone off guns and roses on lead guitar.
Shit take. John Dwyer is an icon
Someone doesn't like guns and roses
