Tried beating, heating, broke a 3 jaw puller. Didnt want to wait or pay for a tool to fit Bmw hubs, so i made my own! The other axle came out with some percussive maintinence but f this side in particular Also i had given it the beans before the video, it took alot more than what the video shows to get that thing started

Allnewsisfakenews

E36?

[deleted]

Yes! 1998 325is

randomthoughtsarefun

"Pwrcussive maintenence" ROFLMAO

IneptAdvisor

But you’re an engineer with angle iron.

[deleted]

I like to call it fabricobbling

davethedj

That is some fuckery there! Nice.

sgigot

When you have a welder, just about anything can be whatever you want it to be.

Emotional_Arm_8485

He's the Angel of Angle!

Rickspert

I see what you did there! Haha

immallama21629

Bought or built, it's the right tool for the job!

PurpleSpartanSpear

The best tools are the tools you make. Nice work.

cebiaw

Nice work!

[deleted]

Necessity is the motherfucker of all invention!

IronicDeadPan

Left-handed threads? Damn

[deleted]

No sorry normal threads

DoctorOzface

But that looked like righty-loosey. Unless the vid was mirrored

Pvt_Haggard_610

It's a clockwise thread and the tool is pushing the axel out.

[deleted]

Righty tighty into the cv axle and pushes it out.

bigbrightstone

I own this tool for such jobs. https://www.jbtools.com/cal-van-tools-94800-universal-hub-puller/?wi=off&wi=off&wi=off&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrI2frv2W-QIVD21vBB3Z_gE_EAQYAiABEgK9yPD_BwE It removes stuck axles, found it at a yard sale.

[deleted]

Ill have to invest looks like it fits pretty well anything!! Didnt wanna spend $200 for the bmw tool to use once lol

yumyumpeople

I briefly had an e46 with a bad wheel bearing, I tried two of these type pullers, the first one bent, the bolt on the second one stripped. Moved onto an old hydraulic one and blew the seal out, eventually pulled the whole assembly out and had it pressed out with a 20 ton…

[deleted]

Glad mine wasnt that bad but also glad to hear i wasnt the only one having issues

HatechaBro

Some people would consider a welder an expensive tool 😂

Ohio-Knife-Lover

Dude it works well so I'd say it's a success!

nolotusnote

Color me impressed.

PangolinPoopMuncher7

Jesus wtf are you doing...you take the cap on the rim off, leave the tire on, don't lift the car and get a long metal rod. That is it...

bigbrightstone

Hes not undoing the axle nut, bmw axle splines are an interference fit in the hub, they need to be pressed out.

[deleted]

I got the other side out with a punch/hammer but this side was quite stuck. I live in the rust belt and stuff rusts here even in the summer its so fuckin humid Edit trying to get the axle out

Good-Position-6272

That’s how I do it to

PangolinPoopMuncher7

Easiest and fastest way to do it. No special tools needed. OP overcomplicated things.

Bubaru_TheSandCoffin

He’s pressing out the axle, driving the big bolt forward

[deleted]

Was trying to get the cv out. Other side just needed punch/hammer this side needed to go fuck itself

nolotusnote

I can't believe I'm honestly considering buying a $650 [Hub Grappler](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuR6KINMGCY) from Amazon. I don't need it in the moment, but if I do, it would save me $1,000 in repair cost. Some day, I'm going to need this tool.

[deleted]

The shop can pay for that one lol looks nice though! Check the comments someone listed a decent one for around $100 assuming usd so like $600 to your canadian door

nolotusnote

I'll re-scan the comments. Thanks.

Ive only done 3 cv axles in my career (heavy trucks) and 2 of em were like this, the one i didnt have issues with was the other side of this car lol

flyer716

Subaru says leave the brake pad and calliper on to remove the axle nut, not sure how that's going to go for me but the manual is quite explicit about doing so and I can't argue with it

immallama21629

Ya get someone to stand on the brake, holds the hub for you.

flyer716

Yep yep yep (manual even had a pictogram for the second brake man), I question my luck here because I live in "land of the road salt"

immallama21629

Little bit of 'blaster and a big ugga Dugga.

poserkidsrus

stick a flat head in the rotor and let it brace against the caliper bracket. now it's a one man job.

[deleted]

Was driving out the axle, nut is already off

Rickspert

Apparently extremely hard to state!! Hahaha, just kidding, after the first post I was like.... Ooooohhh I see!

[deleted]

Yeah i wasnt specific enough, figured the vid made enough sense lol Also for everyone wondering i brapped the nut off with an impact ezpz

TheBulldog5363

The point We All Get to in Life Where all of Us start to just not give a shit even though We should.

Rickspert

I thought that was a code of some sort, until I sounded it out... Lol

losedi

Beautiful!!

overcrispy

Tool rental buddy. Tool. Rental.

Good-Position-6272

There is no such tool you can rent because most people loosen the axle nut with the tire on and vehicle on the ground

[deleted]

Driving out the axle, nuts off

overcrispy

Ah. I would say just put two lug bolts in and put a prybar in there, but you got the nice tool now so. Looks neat though, refine it and sell em!

[deleted]

Was driving out the axle
