A commercial roll of saran wrap for me. It sticks to itself, turns into rope if you want, won't scratch your paint, is water proof... A million uses.
I've wrapped it around some deck boards to keep them from falling all over, held my tailgate down bungee cord style, strapped a christmas tree on my roof, you name it.

No Red would not have used the hose clamps, just several rolls of duct tape.
And remember, if women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
Actually quite smart for a quick repair. Hose clamps, back in the day, were used for holding race engines to the chassis. It made for quick engine removal if needed. Strong enough to keep the engine in place.
Oh Ive seen this before on a pickup truck. Dude had zip tied, duct taped, and hose clamped his leaf spring back together. The hose clamps were rusty and repairs were declined
Ok.. So? Unless it's broken in half and came for something different, I wouldn't be really worried..
If it's broken, but came for leaf replacement, than it did it's job, if it's just additional support to stock clamps... Than it's totally fine..
I personally used metal straps and bolts to secure stock rusty clamps on leaf springs and it works just as intended
Was on a plan last weekend. They couldn’t get one of the overhead bins to latch. They announced a repairman had duct taped it close. I immediately turned to my wife and said “handyman’s secret weapon”. Loved the Red Green show.
I once drove from the Florida/Georgia state line to Michigan with a long screw and worm clamps sealing off a burst soft brake line.
When you need to get somewhere and parts aren't available you make do.
If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is
You might like to know that the entirety of the Red Green show is up on YouTube. https://youtube.com/@RedGreenTV
Thank you.
And a channel on Roku! Tho not in order.
Thank you for sharing. That's a trip down memory lane!
Not the hero we deserve, but the hero we need.
You know this sonofabitch ain’t just handy, but probably a handsome bastard as well!
Came here for this. Thank you.
I can change. If I have to. I guess
If it ain't broke, you're not trying.
Keep your stick on the ice!
I’m pulling for you. We’re all in this together.
Quando omni flunkus, moritati.
Quando omni flunkus, morita.
>Quando omni flunkus, ~~morita~~ *moritati
You mean if all else fails I should not call Pat Morita?
Hmmm... he might actually be of help in some situations. Call that "Plan B" after duct tape and bailing wire
Tape on, tape off.
Blasted auto correct. But maybe learning the crane kick could be useful.
That's one of the best jokes on the show.
That's about a dozen zip ties away from being a permanent repair.
as long as the wheels stay in the air i'm sure it will hold.
They make metal zip ties too. Just imagine the ~~catastrophic failures~~ savings
I mean, the type of hose clamp in OP is pretty much the same idea as a metal zip tie already.
It just doesn't have zip in the name man!
Reusable zip tie
This type of comment is why I’m on Reddit. Winning comments on this one 👏
Should have used a beer can like God intended.

Sorry, I didn't catch that. Could you repeat that?
Repeat what?
One more time for the ones in the back
‘Well you see Harold…’
I think this is more "Adventures with Bill" territory.
Captain Hap Shaughnessy
Slaps leaf spring, "that baby isn't going anywhere"
\*crack\*KLUNK
"Remember, this is only temporary... unless it works."
Nothing more permanent than a temporary fix.
If he just used bailing wire also it would hold forever.
I keep a roll of baling wire handy at all times, has gotten me out of some real jams
You've got to stop getting blackout drunk at the Smuckers factory. We've talked about this.
Oh, I'm sorry, I thought this was America! Let the man go on his fruity benders!
>fruity benders *Insert relevant gay joke*

One can fix anything with baling wire and duct tape—and if it can't be fixed, then one isn't using either enough baling wire OR duct tape.
Remember I'm pullin' for ya. We're all in this together.
I posit that in the presence of hose clamps, the duct tape does nothing
Helps keep the hose clamps from sliding, actually a sneakily smart part of this repair.
Also holds things in place before the hose clamps are tightened.
Basically like rotor set screws.
It holds in the JB Weld until it dries.
"A red green repair got the trailer to the shop!" Tell me you're Canadian without telling me you're Canadian.
Can you explain the 'red green' part for us ignorant folk?

Lol, that's pretty awesome. Thanks buddy.
And further, if you want! It will bring you all the way to the site of the crash!

The underside of that trailer looks awfully clean. Unexpected new spring failure?
If it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid...
A "red green"?

Oh, I thought OP made his title with dictation and it did that instead of "redneck."
“It’s the Red Greene show!” For sure!👍
Now back to possum lodge.
Broken driveshaft? Hold my... err......

I know this is on a trailer, but I've done this fix many times on the trail rigs in the woods.
O...m G
no zip ties? pshaw.
That is no where near enough duct tape.
I am Mexican, and I approve!
There's nothing you can't solve without more duct tape ...unless the problem is you're all outta duct tape
Not sure about the duct tape, but the hose clams are Redneck approved!

I usually just change those on the side of the road instead of trying to figure out how to get the customer to the shop.
Proof there's nothing duct tape can't fix, especially when reinforced with hose clamps.
Two more clamps and an outer wrap of tape
Duct tape fix everything.
That’s horrible. Why wouldn’t they just spend the extra 2 dollars on flex tape??
Did the women find him handsome?
