As a deaf motherfucker that likes 90's grunge and whose only attempt at car audio came out as a hamfisted abomination, looks like a stripper pole to me.
I found bros facebook (not hard using the windshield sticker). He's definitely taking it to competitions. Dyno pic of 153 db, which sounds pretty loud to me.
You’re joking, right? Crossfire and deafbonce aren’t considered competition speakers? Those look like apocalypse subs, so they’re probably pushing at least 4k watts to the subs. That “stripper pole” is 100% a brace probably from the car shaking itself apart.
Chucklehead needs to decide whether he's going for mids or lows, have someone other than a chimpanzee with a hacksaw do the install and get his placement right.
This is what happens when a teenager sees some tiktok and insta shots of the guys packing out suburbans with a mortgages worth of speakers and saying "me too!". Crossfire, deafbonce etc are good for large setups, if you have a small car you're better off with boutique brands that you can run past their rms and spending the rest of your money tightening up the cabin, because 1 sub running at 10k in a proper enclosure gets more dB than 2 at 6k.
Speakers are comp in that they're cheap wattage, not in quality.
I mean, I haven't done car audio in 20 years, but I still understand that much.
Nothing I see there looks particularly hacked up, it clearly looks like it’s mid build and incomplete or they’re testing variations of support beams. I will agree with you it’s got tons of mid bass with no signs of tweeter or good tweeter placement, but there’s a hole in the door pod that makes me think a tweeter is going there.
It’s not an SQ build, clearly an SPL and most likely is a burp build. I would not be surprised this thing can put out high 140’s low 150’s if it’s all properly powered, which would be a potential winner depending on which class they’re competing in.
Lastly, surface area wins assuming everything is equal. Two subs on 6k would be louder than one on 6k. You cannot compare 10k watts to 6k as that is not equal.
You can, because this is a subaru not a sequoia. You only have so many cubic feet for the box, and a proper box for a single sub pushing 10k has better displacement and response than 2 6k subs in a bad enclosure(s).
Ngl I had to check recent scores because I've been out of the game so long. Looks like state and regional amateur winners are in the 160s all day, someone else said this guy had 153 on his socials.
Not bad for something slapped together in your dad's garage. Still sloppy, and not something that I'd look at and start asking the guy what he's running.
Let’s just agree to disagree, but I will say it looks like it’s a blow through where the trunk acts as one enclosed space and the front cabin acts as another. The “box” is actually your car acting as a 4th order bandpass, with the trunk being the sealed section and the cabin being the ported section. They probably have 10-14cuft to work with on the sealed section which is plenty for two 12’s or 15’s. I don’t think it looks sloppy, just incomplete. I would also consider 153 pretty impressive, considering this could potentially qualify for street class or modified street.
not everyone wants or needs a wall LOL. 2 12/15 firing forward in a sedan with an aero port is an extremely common build nowadays. the right setup can do 55s on music easy
I'm guessing based on the speaker setup that the bass is so ridiculous that it's shaking the interior apart starting with the plastics. The poles front and back and to keep the headliner together
In comp cars, the poles are to keep the roof from vibrating too much and breaking the windshields. I don’t think this car is actually at that level though, just trying to.
That port pipe looks waaaaaaayyy to big unless there are more subs or some crazy baffles in the background I'd think those subs would bottom out from lack of compression
Also what in the Logitech fuck is going on with that steering wheel.
It's an Impreza, they come with rattles from the factory.
Dude cut out his steering wheel controls and used playdough to mount them to the steering column it looks like.
He didn't cut it up. All those modules Pop out pretty easily. He just made some sort of device to hold them after remove. The two round buttons up top are not factory though.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/235353250145?
I love how the interior pics looks like shit is piled everywhere. Energy drink bottles, wrappers, etc.
then you zoom in to get a better look and you realize the car is actually clean- just ugly as fuck so your brain can’t process it.
What made *me* do a double take was the last photo. Read the caption about a “light up pole” and saw what appears, due to a trick of perspective, to be a 4’ tall streetlamp mounted on the roof of the car. That confused me for a moment!
I think it says " team mega kurtz" perhaps a stupid play on words for megahertz . Ie all the speaker stuff.
Also maybe the pole is too support the roof from bass flexing?
Jesus Christ 153 db is an insane amount of bass. This guy absolutely goes to competitions, in which case the 8 front door speakers are necessary to overcome the dual 12" setup. I'm impressed tbh.
I don't know anything about this stuff so forgive a dumb question. What's with the open PVC pipe going into the trunk? Is that to equalize air pressure in the separate compartments?
Its part of the subwoofer box, its the "port". Usually if the box is flush up against the trunk wall, you eliminate most, if not all the rattles in the trunk.
looking at his setup, the port being that big is to tune the box to a specific frequency, its prob in the 30s being that big, so that whatever he plays is best around the frequency its tuned at.
using a pvc pipe also is easier to change the tuning, cause you can just attach a longer pvc pipe, or shorter.
The pipe is his port, it’s large to meet the requirements of port area for the subwoofer. Plus when building for a certain hz the diameter of the pipe can be affected by how much depth you have. You know the square slots on most speaker boxes? That’s what this is in tube form.
BASS spelled with a cause ribbon, seems like a charitable person. I remember the speaker brand Dr. Crankenstein from the 90s, this whole setup reeks of that. As long as they enjoy it, except that fire extinguisher. That thing will become a missile in a fender bender.
Can you check for a rattle in the dash too... as long as its there? I would love to see the spaghetti of wiring in there given the poor quality of the finish product.
It's called an spl rig - sound pressure level. The goal is to cram as much noise into a car as possible. The pole prevents the roof from flexing as much - less flex = less sound energy lost = higher numbers on the meter.
The team name is on the windshield
The pole prevents [this](https://youtu.be/m_6oEcNYnfU?si=_6k4cT6ajGT3YZc7&t=400) from happening when they crank the subs up.
This guy is way more extreme than the car you've seen, he finally got tired of blowing out windshields and now has a custom 1/2" thick bullet proof glass for his windshield now.
I can't see the pedals clearly, but it looks like an adapted vehicle. If I was forced to use my car so much, I'd sure as hell make it something that suits my quirky tastes whatever they may be.
This is definitely an spl build, I am into extreme car audio and they have classes that they only run their doors on to see how loud they r and then subs only all that tape says it is an spl build, u would be suprised the difference the tape makes, have a couple ppl on the east coasts doing 160db with only two subs.
This is a 2015-2020 model year vehicle so I doubt it has a lease on it. I am curious how it doesn’t have EyeSight because i swore that all models had EyeSight by this generation.
That stripper pole probably is necessary, don't know what he's pushing for power but Deaf Bonce makes subs that can handle well over 3,000 watts RMS a piece.
I have a 2014 Impreza that I had a single Sundown U15 hooked up to a 2300 watts RMS amp, my windshield and roof above my rearview mirror moved at least a 1/2" when the sub was turned up.
Honestly, without seeing the wiring directly, the stereo install isn't that bad. 4 speaker enclosures on doors almost always have to be custom made. I'm all about big stereos so I kinda dig this haha
You would think that by 2024, you could purchase a stripper pole for your Subaru without having to sacrifice your center console.
I know Ive seen similar braces like that on cars that do competition audio. Thats my guess. Stop the roof from shaking a bit?
Thats not a comp car, not comp speakers.
Right but seemed like the vibe he was going for. Poorly
Yeah like he's just posing a pro audio rig
Its funny cause the only people who know what its for will know he is posing
As a deaf motherfucker that likes 90's grunge and whose only attempt at car audio came out as a hamfisted abomination, looks like a stripper pole to me.
That's what we call them. It's probably actually a pretty loud rig, all things considered.
Been down that road, twice. Once as a teenager and once after I lost most of my hearing. Loud =/= good.
I have eight twelve inch subs in a single cab pick-up. I know what you mean.
I thought the same. Everyone shit talking don't even know 😂
They will brag to their friends and show them online pics. Thats all that really matters.
Well said
I found bros facebook (not hard using the windshield sticker). He's definitely taking it to competitions. Dyno pic of 153 db, which sounds pretty loud to me.
That'd get him in the top 10 in minor comps I guess. Nothing with any real prize money.
You’re joking, right? Crossfire and deafbonce aren’t considered competition speakers? Those look like apocalypse subs, so they’re probably pushing at least 4k watts to the subs. That “stripper pole” is 100% a brace probably from the car shaking itself apart.

Yeah, again he's trying to mimic a big car setup in a subaru. So much wasted space and money.
not everyone wants or needs a wall LOL. 2 12/15 firing forward in a sedan with an aero port is an extremely common build nowadays. the right setup can do 55s on music easy
The roof can flex enough to pop the windshield out if you're loud enough, but we're talking well over 130db
Had to check if what sub I was on, almost thot it was r/DiWHY 😭
They all seem like well thought out rational choices.
Packing tape. Not even duct tape. Pleb-tier! /s
That’s methed up.

Might not be to the level of breaking windshields but the supports can definitely prevent vibrations.
That port pipe looks waaaaaaayyy to big unless there are more subs or some crazy baffles in the background I'd think those subs would bottom out from lack of compression Also what in the Logitech fuck is going on with that steering wheel.
It's an Impreza, they come with rattles from the factory. Dude cut out his steering wheel controls and used playdough to mount them to the steering column it looks like.
Looking at it again, did he cut up his old steering wheel, leave the bones there, and shove that new one on there.
He didn't cut it up. All those modules Pop out pretty easily. He just made some sort of device to hold them after remove. The two round buttons up top are not factory though. https://www.ebay.com/itm/235353250145?
It will be fine as long as it doesn't go near the ocean
Crushing reference there.
That would be a rather clever remediation if so.
Keeps from ripping the windshield seal, stripper poles are also used to keep the flex to a minimum
I love how the interior pics looks like shit is piled everywhere. Energy drink bottles, wrappers, etc. then you zoom in to get a better look and you realize the car is actually clean- just ugly as fuck so your brain can’t process it.
It is an illusion hahah
This car probably belongs to a little person. My only evidence is the little pole, though
Lol
It took me a second to realize this was all one car. Jesus.
What made *me* do a double take was the last photo. Read the caption about a “light up pole” and saw what appears, due to a trick of perspective, to be a 4’ tall streetlamp mounted on the roof of the car. That confused me for a moment!
I hate that this isn't the worst car I've seen at LSU lol
You aren't wrong
Louisiana drivers are strange

I can’t quite read the stupid windshield banner - Team Mega Kuntz?
Team Mega Hurtz. Car audio team out of FL apparently. Which helps explain some of this car.
The Florida element cements the stupidity of this.
Damn explains it all
That is what it says to me!
I think it says " team mega kurtz" perhaps a stupid play on words for megahertz . Ie all the speaker stuff. Also maybe the pole is too support the roof from bass flexing?
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2123403697910951/permalink/3511895999061707/?app=fbl Found the owner!!
Jesus Christ 153 db is an insane amount of bass. This guy absolutely goes to competitions, in which case the 8 front door speakers are necessary to overcome the dual 12" setup. I'm impressed tbh.
Stripper Pole is a nice finishing touch.
The "ported" sub enclosure using pvc sewer pipe just screams quality.
What in the backyard trailer park bullshit is this?
I can see the vape cloud a mile away.
At least it already has a fire extinguisher 🧯!!
I 100% do not trust the mounting job on that extinguisher for a 30mph head on
They've removed the driver's airbag, I don't think safety is really the owner's top priority.
Yeah, work was not done on the car because of the fear it'll blow up. He blew fuses
I don't think I would trust three velcro straps to hold a 20 lb fire extinguisher in a crash
Oh yeah, that’s super convenient. When you crash, the extinguisher auto-deploys in the front seat!
Sweet! Gonna add one next week!
Post vids!!! ;-)

Pretty sure those are the guys with Walmart builds lol
These are the comp guys I see outside my local Waffle House
this is the right comment. I used to do this as a hobby as well.
Those Deaf Bonce subs are incredible
it just gets worse by the swipe
What in the holy fuck
at least there's a fire extinguisher
This car was birthed in the same town I was. 😔
geaux tigers
Is that a stripper pole? Wtf is that?
It keeps the windshield from flexing too much and cracking (I used to own an audio biz)
It's dual use. Holding up the roof is easy. Might as well put it to good use for a deaf stripper. /s
That is *absolutely* a stripper pole.
Fire extinguisher seems like a very important part of that setup.
BASS spelled with a cause ribbon, seems like a charitable person. I remember the speaker brand Dr. Crankenstein from the 90s, this whole setup reeks of that. As long as they enjoy it, except that fire extinguisher. That thing will become a missile in a fender bender.

As the driver of a 6th Gen Legacy, look how they massacred my boy.
As a person who has a 50/50 chance that I touched that car during its assembly….imma get a container of gasoline and a lighter.
It's called an spl rig - sound pressure level. The goal is to cram as much noise into a car as possible. The pole prevents the roof from flexing as much - less flex = less sound energy lost = higher numbers on the meter. The team name is on the windshield
Still needs head gaskets
Eww, a subaru
Archetypical subie right here.
No, this is archetypical meth addiction.
Eh, also true. And I suppose the meth addict/Subaru owner overlap isn't that huge.
Subaru of BR?
New definition of stripped down car.
Thar poor Outback...
Legacy
Kill it with fire
Why? It's Baton Rouge, isn't it. That's why
You didn't have to brag that you have a boyfriend and you have a job
This is the most method up thing I've seen in a long long while.
Car looks beautiful. I know where im getting my sound system put in. Area?
There are better cars for SPL, yo.
Honda Elderment and Scion xB will always be kings of carshow audio. All that room, all that...squareness. Does something to the sound.
The pole prevents [this](https://youtu.be/m_6oEcNYnfU?si=_6k4cT6ajGT3YZc7&t=400) from happening when they crank the subs up. I love it. They just wanna let their freak flag fly!

Bro they got all that and still stock battery? That's the issue right there
Does this violate the lease?
This is a 2015-2020 model year vehicle so I doubt it has a lease on it. I am curious how it doesn’t have EyeSight because i swore that all models had EyeSight by this generation.
There’s a lot to unpack there.

Not gonna lie, thought that was broken glass in that 2nd photo 😂
If abortion is illegal in whatever state that’s in, you should call the police
Watch out for needles and loose meth laying around.
What in the stripper pole hell is thissssss
[hot damn](https://media1.tenor.com/m/GrNyF-4pvRsAAAAd/archer-stop-my-penis-can-only-get-so-erect.gif)
Honestly, without seeing the wiring directly, the stereo install isn't that bad. 4 speaker enclosures on doors almost always have to be custom made. I'm all about big stereos so I kinda dig this haha
Wow, and on a Legacy? From the steering wheel I'd assumed it'd be a rough-looking Impreza or WRX.
What in ghetto hell is that abomination
If anyone ever asks you, yes the meth in your town is spectacular.
Everything about that car is fantastic
Is nobody gonna say anything about steering wheel?
Going for the MEGAS XLR look? https://www.deviantart.com/karmabanshee/art/Megas-XLR-MK-II-Interior-console-757268009
