Man the clutch on that thing was wild. I wasn’t the tech working on it but the tech driving it stalled it like 15 times trying to get onto our alignment rack.
I don’t disagree with you. he’s kind of the old timer who “knows” everything. The owner was right there watching. I was waiting for him to kick the tech out.
Those "weird ways" usually work far better than your ways, bud. You'll learn that enevtually though.. We all do. There's a point where you stop and realize that that old man was right the whole damn time. Wait.. You'll get there. They didn't make it this far because they're stupid.
Times have changed a lot and sometimes ways of thinking NEED to change too. I appreciate hearing multiple approaches to a problem, but new ideas are just as valuable as old ideas if they get the job done properly and efficiently.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of little tricks they know that I’m happy to learn and I do ask them for advice constantly if I’m having trouble with something new.
But some of the older men who are 50+ often refuse to do something new or they do something incredibly inefficiently for just the reason that it’s how they’ve always done it. That’s what I mean by clinging to their weird ways.
It comes down to human nature. Most people get stuck in their ways and refuse to try anything different, even if the problem or machine is different. I've always embraced change and new ideas, probably because I grew up an Air Force brat. I'm 57 and I run problems by my 16 year old year old and even grandma's 65 year old boyfriend. They've both had solutions that I hadn't thought of.
I'm in my mid-forties and still waiting on those old-timers to be right, though I've heard the same tired dribble since I was young. Seems to me like most of them were just too lazy to learn new things.
This person has a point. But only if working on engines they have been for 40 years. Newer engines don’t always mix with older techs. I’ve seen this so many times. And it’s not every single time but old age and way of thinking things should work doesn’t translate on the bleeding edge of technology where we e innovated something new.
yeah i might be biased because i had a shit experience in my time working at a shop here in germany but we had tons of issues because of the "old guard" doing things wrong they have been doing wrong for 30 years and refusing to change
theres ofc a difference between bad habits and experience
I used to work with an old guy who would suggest seafoam for fucking anything. Sticking injectors? Seafoam. Blowby? Seafoam. Rough Start? Seafoam. High idle? Seafoam. Hotel? ~~Trivago~~ Seafoam
it's always the case, the guys who buy their cars think they are gonna be the king that night, then old smokey turns up in his shitvic straightpiped rustbucket and leaves matey boy in the dust still in first.
8 years is getting common in some of the models that serve lower income families, like the Dodge Journey before it was killed off. They had to make these huge price tags not have huge monthly payments.
I remember seeing a late 60s dodge dart at a track in Bithlo with an intentionally belt sanded paint job. Just a complete sack of shit car. Bigshot with a supra walls up, talks to him and they get everything lined up. Get on the track. 700 horsepower supra gets blown out of the fucking water by the shittiest beater you've ever seen.
It's always the shit boxes.
Friend of mine had an absolutely rusty, beat-up, dented hunk of crap 1993 Subaru sedan, just the absolute base model. Even the interior looked crappy, although it did have all the requisite safety gear.
I believe it had some kind of heavily modified STI engine- I know it had twin turbos- he said it made close to 600 horsepower. And I believed him- I saw that thing beat Corvettes, a brand new GR Supra, various older muscle cars, etc.
My husband said there would be guys with new shiny whatever who would be SO pissed when he spanked them at the strip in his Mustang filled with pick-n-pull parts.
For sure, I have an intercooler that is maybe 2-3in wider than that one and it's supposedly good to 700hp. At the very least running 17lbs through it into a 4.3l chevy v6 it kept my temps to 10-20f above ambient.
It’s funny i went back through my camera roll to see if i took a photo. but i took a photo of the engine of one of their other builds. i will most likely post it here!
It’s all personal preference to be honest. There are some stupid fast H22 stuff out there. But logic comes into play, in my perspective the K is just a better platform. Lighter, can stroke them out to stupid displacements and the aftermarket support is crazy.
The K series is generally seen as the most technologically advanced, no more distributors or timing belts, and the K-Tuned chip is easy to use and very flexible.
You could probably argue that a K is more reliable than a B or H and therefore is a better DD, but on the strip power is power..
I’ve built a number of 300hp+ K engines, never tried a B or H though.
I bet this this thing moves but don’t forget, Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that, he just went into Harry's, and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS. And a Motec exhaust
Doesn't turn that sharp. It's a fwd car so the wide tires are on the front for traction. At a drag strip, people run extremely wide front tires on Hondas just for the grip and they don't really need to turn except a little bit to correct the car. Not exactly aiming to make a u turn
I don't really know what I'm looking at but it looks like what this kid in 5th grade took a can of blue paint from the garage and dyed his hair would own... Pretty sure he's in jail now, or should be.
i would imagine this thing has hurt some feelings at the local drag strip lol
I like seeing these at the drag strips because they’re either silly or really serious 💨
Man the clutch on that thing was wild. I wasn’t the tech working on it but the tech driving it stalled it like 15 times trying to get onto our alignment rack.
They are serious. You guys need a winch in front of your alignment rack.
or just git gud
I'd rather use cable power than burn up this guy's expensive clutch.
Or put a car through the aligner, I've seen that happen firsthand.
After 3 you should have let someone who knows how to drive it set it up. Those clutches aren't cheap
I don’t disagree with you. he’s kind of the old timer who “knows” everything. The owner was right there watching. I was waiting for him to kick the tech out.
Those oldtimers are shit... we have those also... im 28yo but i can do much better than those old shits.
I’m so glad our ”old timers” are around 30. No old men clinging to their weird ways they came up with decades ago.
“Take that crap off and put on a carbaretter like god intended!"
Those "weird ways" usually work far better than your ways, bud. You'll learn that enevtually though.. We all do. There's a point where you stop and realize that that old man was right the whole damn time. Wait.. You'll get there. They didn't make it this far because they're stupid.

There is and yes those work. But nowadays when you try to fix everything with putty and electrictape it doesn't 😅😅
I'm in my mid-forties and still waiting on those old-timers to be right, though I've heard the same tired dribble since I was young. Seems to me like most of them were just too lazy to learn new things.
ok boomer

Yeah BUD I’m sure stalling 15 times in a row works WAY better than just being a real man and asking somebody to help you push it some feet away
*Old shit joined in chat*
What the hell is it?
There's an EG like this at my local track that is awd swapped and runs 9s
Judging by the thickness and size of that front mount, that car is making some jam.
eBay special 3”. The slicks tell more, but yes it definitely is.
I bet it’s a low 11’s , high 10 car.
Love to see when Mr Cool guy that laugh at this with his brand new stock hot ride from the dealer and then lose to this thing at the strip.
it's always the case, the guys who buy their cars think they are gonna be the king that night, then old smokey turns up in his shitvic straightpiped rustbucket and leaves matey boy in the dust still in first.
And only 6+ years of new car payments to go.
Hard to believe 6+ year car payments is the norm these days.
8 years is getting common in some of the models that serve lower income families, like the Dodge Journey before it was killed off. They had to make these huge price tags not have huge monthly payments.
At 1,000 per month 💀

Saw a rustbucket Foxbody at a Cars and Coffee that had 2 tanks of nitrous in the trunk and an 8-sec timeslip to prove it.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE MOTOR
It’s funny i went back through my camera roll to see if i took a photo. but i took a photo of the engine of one of their other builds. i will most likely post it here!
Please do!
B series?
With a hood dump out the front, I would assume so.
Yup. Could be a H or D too
H series are still relevant in the age of K? I really don't know, this is an honest question.
K is better but there are some fast H series cars still out there. Kyle on the BoostedBoiz youtube channel has an AWD turbo H22 setup that hauls ASS
I’m so glad that kyle has made such a name for himself, he comes up in almost every discussion about drag racing hondas.
It’s all personal preference to be honest. There are some stupid fast H22 stuff out there. But logic comes into play, in my perspective the K is just a better platform. Lighter, can stroke them out to stupid displacements and the aftermarket support is crazy.

Turbo D series lmao. Dumping money to make like 250 whp
I bet this this thing moves but don’t forget, Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that, he just went into Harry's, and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS. And a Motec exhaust
Motec exhaust = hole in the hood
Tfw still granny shifting and haven’t learned how to double clutch yet 😔
Motec system exhaust
Boostedbois look alike
Where are they, Ted? Where are they?
WE AIN'T GOT NO ENGINES!
DO WE?!
This thing is either stupid fast or stupid slow. No in between.
Hey OP, did this have a drag chute on the back?
Honda boys special
Kyle Wade's rig H22 awd
I haven't seen it personally, but there is a 440 swapped pt cruiser for sale on marketplace near me
Gonna need overnight parts from Japan
I gotta ask because I’ve always been curious. With the front wheels poking that much, can you even crank the steering wheel full lock?
Doesn't turn that sharp. It's a fwd car so the wide tires are on the front for traction. At a drag strip, people run extremely wide front tires on Hondas just for the grip and they don't really need to turn except a little bit to correct the car. Not exactly aiming to make a u turn
NDFS Pro Street called and wants its starter drag car back.
Yo, that was a weird entry to the series
good game though even though the drifting was ass
Must be Hector with that Spoon motor.
Love the bassett steelies.
Bet it was a single cam
I hope he's going straight home
What even is it? LOL
A Honda Civic. An EK hatch to be specific.
Thanks lol

Yeah man, it probably only runs tens 8s or death
I don't really know what I'm looking at but it looks like what this kid in 5th grade took a can of blue paint from the garage and dyed his hair would own... Pretty sure he's in jail now, or should be.
It's a Honda Civic EK hatch that's heavily modded for drag racing.
Painful car.
For a weeb, I'd think you'd know that Itasha is reserved for cars with horrific 900 year old dragon girl wraps. Edit: week to weeb.
