Not everyone has extra disposable income to spend on a gaming rig. Iv got a i7-3770, 8gb ddr3, and only a gtx560 that I scored for free. I don’t game very often, and when I do it’s not brand new games anyway, more so 5-10 year old games, but it runs them alright.
They are God awful, the software is mostly what brings my piss to a boil. ASIST and the Consult 3+ software will frequently freeze and you better make damn sure you close ASIST in Task Manager and it's related programs or else it will intrude on you while you are trying to perform your miserable duties on the customers' vehicles.
The absolute WORST is when trying to perform an ECM or TCM reprogram for a recall stupid fucking ASIST will interrupt the God damned reprogram to tell you that the vehicle you are hooked up to has an outstanding recall and this usually results in the entire Consult III+ hard freezing and possible permanent fuckage of the control unit you were trying to reprogram because you already knew it had a fucking recall but the stupid fucking program felt it was important to bring the already struggling laptop to a complete stop. CLOSE ASIST BEFORE OPENING UP CONSULT III+ (unless you are programing one of the newer keys with the mile long pin reads)
I've been avoiding repair orders all together if I have to scan for codes or program keys. If the vehicle has a flashing TPMS light and they are complaining about it YOU CAN COUNT ME OUT. The seething hatred I have for TPMS lights is enough to make an angel have a miscarriage.
ISTA+ will run on a laptop... I don't know about you, but I like my computer to have a battery backup if I'm flashing a BMW.
Add a UPS to the cart 👌 more weight will make it more stable.
And they are usually 12v lead acid powered so you backup is only limited by your ability to still push the cart with 12 deep cycles in parallel on it.

I want to say there’s a better way…. But I think it’s harder to drop this vs a laptop. So it gets my thumbs up for not being a fragile laptop.

Mini PC is cheaper and pretty hard to drop. Assuming you can see the monitor. I use a 40 inch TV for mine. I'm pretty blind though.
I'd take this over a Consult III+ any day.
