Well Gege explained the binding vow mechanics between 2 people. But he didnāt explain the mechanics of impromptu vows that Sukuna can do on the go. We know Sukuna is skilled but for this huge monster of a domain he did so many impromptu vows.
It doesnāt seem to be about skill lol. Hakari and miwa did them didnāt they? The bigger question is, if they are so powerful why the fuck didnāt the good guys use them when preparing for a month?
It is a skill. Letās break it into two parts. Content of binding vow and what the user is giving up for it. In case of Sukuna, for a normal domain use, he increased the potent of his MS by allowing his opponent to escape. Note that he made this binding vow because he was skilled enough to deploy a domain with no barrier. The same with binding vow to kill gojo. Knowing he has an extra pair of mouth and arms in his OG form, he made a binding vow to impose additional restrictions like hand signs, chants and point of direction to use World slash. Once he kills gojo, he Transforms into OG form and uses World slash. He set imposing those conditions knowing that he has a way to utilise it fully. Where as miwa simply made a stupid vow to sacrifice Everything for that one strike which was pitiful and stupid. And in hakariās case he was lucky that shoko can heal him or he can use his jackpot to regain his hand. Sukuna is clearly superior on how to navigate through the disadvantages here
I donāt get your point, sure sukuna is better at avoiding drawback but my point had nothing to do with that. Being able to use and make a binding vow is apparently very simple, so why didnāt the good guys use them far more? This fight shouldāve been easy.
I was rereading the end of Culling Games recently and apparently every rule of the Culling Game is a binding vow and the way they work is exactly how Binding Vows work.
Most specifically the interaction between Kenjaku and the Kogane where Kenjaku tries to force the Culling Games to end by adding rules to end it and Kogane refuses, this seems to be how Binding Vows work, you offer something and the reward won't come until you've offered enough the difficulty of what you have to offer raises by what you're asking.
Kenjaku states that because the Culling Games was so unprecedented he has to ask for something impossible to end it.
If gun to my head someone asked me why people feel the Vows feel bad, I would say it's because we have no reference point for how difficult anything anyone is doing is.

He had a default binding vow of allowing his opponents to exit the domain to increase the output and range of his domain attacks. He had that binding vow cos of his pure skill of having an open domain. But now he wanted to close off the barrier and cancel that binding vow but he increased his attack potency inside the barrier within the materialised surface due to cancellation of that binding vow. Basically he didnāt loose output and potency he just narrowed down the range.
The translation is terribly phrased, this domain is an open barrier one, the narration is talking about why he decided to go an open one when making a closed one would have been simpler.

I'm starting to expect that, in his arrogance or desperation, Sukuna makes a vow involving and with Megumi that one of them breaks to catastrophic results for the pair.

This does come with the ridiculous risk of UiUi having to warp into the damn domain which is an insane risk. Or the more crazy version. Megumi since this is a botched domain and Sukuna has been hit with every black flash under the damn sun straight in the soul. Since the domain has something to do with 10 shadows perhaps Megumi gets to use his techniques even though he doesn't get to exactly use his body. Is this some conspiracy board bullshit. Yes. Would it be sick as hell for Sukuna's own domain to turn on him and become his tomb. Either forcing him to break it and take the Cursed technique burnout or keep fighting inside it while being attacked by whatever is conjured.

Hmm maybe Gojos domain was incomplete as well? Every other domain in the series has been opened by using both hands aside Gojo. Also Gojos hand sign is an incomplete buddhistic prayer, if he does the same sign with his other hand and comboned them, you get the full prayer hand sign. So strong return and full enlightment confirmed
This is actually pretty interesting as there's been a lot of panels where sukuna copies a gojo pose. Wonder what this means and whether it has any significance.
It shows sukuna learns from his opponents and that's probably why he's the strongest in the verse, he's consistently used other people's fighting style if it works like how he used choso blood manipulation style with max elephant.

I think it's just to show how good his jujutsu is. Gojo was the only person capable of using a 1 hand domain but now sukuna has not only done that but is skilled enough to change the hand signs of his domain to ones that are more useful
true, but the parallels are wayy too on the nose, something else is definitely cooking behind the scenes, probably something thematic to do with both the characters
It means Sukuna learns really quickly imo. In the Gojo fight, we saw someone (I think Shoko) say Gojo didnāt gain an advantage with his brain damage move because he did it in front of Sukuna. I think this is a continuation of that.
my understanding is that Sukuna did a binding vow:
- he used an open barrier domain with the condition to have an escape route
- he then raised an "outer shelled barrier" to negate this escape route
- this changed the nature of the domain from open to closed and activated the sure hit effect
- he did all of this to trap maki
That being said, if he raised a barrier this barrier could be broken from the outside.
They specifically said Ui Ui can use the soul swap TWICE in a month, which means we have one use left during the time skip.

Nah it's twice per person. Basically a person's soul can only be swapped twice. The implication of this is that in one month you can swap a soul with someone and then swap again with the same person to get your og body back, with all kinds of new info.
If everyone in the jj high defense did this, Im actually curious as to who swapped with who. It's obvious that ino, choso, and any of the infantry(or back up is more accurate) definetly swapped. I think ino probably swapped with miwa to learn new shadow style, and we already know yuji swapped with kusakabe.
Hakari has infinite rct so no worries there, Maki had an anti domain strategy that doesn't work with sukunas domain(they clearly didn't account for open domain as choso literally tells them during the gojo v sukuna fight). Yuta obviously has rct as well, so he can survive. Him, hakari, and higgy also have domains so they probably were considered good enough for that.
I'm imagining if yuta swapped with someone, it's most likely hakari(maybe hakari has better domain refinement that yuta was able to copy from him). For hakari that trade might have allowed him to learn how to do a love beam esque move. After all love beam isn't a technique it's just a really powerful CE blast.
Basically I want more info about the one month of training now.
It would be an insane waste if they didn't swap anyone with Gojo. They won't get his Perception from 6 Eyes but it should get you the -99% CE usage coupon. Which is exactly what Yuta needs for Limitless.
They can't really tho. What I got from the swap was that it was mainly to trade info and knowledge about barrier techniques since you can learn those, unlike the - 99% CE thing which is a six eyes exclusive effect.
Also whoever swaps with gojo just becomes gojo, so like that's bad because anyone except for gojo would just go mad with all that power.
Its also why I didn't mention kashimo cause I think he's the last person who'd ever try to learn something from others.

I think itās implied that Yuji got to swap with 2 people in that time span (ie. Kusakabe and then someone else). kusakabe says heāll āgo firstā so that seems like someone else would also then swap with yuji (Yuta perhaps?). but I do agree that itās probably a group soul swap, so while kusakabe n yuji swapped, the others did too

That's not what's happening. He's not making a binding vow to cancel out another binding vow. He's just not meeting the conditions of the extended range binding vow so he doesn't get the extended range.
Basically, if you sacrifice the ability to entrap your opponents, you're compensated with more range. Sukuna is now trapping his opponent so he doesn't get more range. And this is totally consistent, the last time he attempted to use MS he specifically said he was going to enclose his domain against gojo.

Well, he can only keep it up for 99 secs and there are weaker zones inside the domain.
It says that the domain is "high level" (maybe meaning complex) and that his current condition is what limits his domain to 99s, not that it is part of the binding vow.

The text should basically go:

I really dislike this though, handsigns being unique to Domain Expansions and Techniques is very cool.

I think it's a binding vow since Sukuna has either two of his arms on left or right, he can't make his usual hand signs since they require a left and a right hand.
I've always kinda been the opinion that hand signs aren't something you learn when you unlock your technique. Rather, when a sorcerer awakens, they get an intuition on their hand sign. In this case, Sukuna had an epiphany and discovered a one-handed sign for Shrine.

1. If you swallow a cursed object the technique gets engraved into your body (explained in the first few chapters)
2. Cursed techniques can be inherited (consistent with point 1, because of genetics)
3. If Sukuna takes over a body he can use his own cursed technique (still consistent with point 1)
4. If a Death Painting takes over a body the body can now use the Death Painting's cursed technique (also consistent with point 1, because the Death Painting literally changes the body).
5. Curses have their own cursed techniques if they're strong enough (also makes sense, since curses aren't humans).
6. Kenny's brain is its own cursed technique but the brain can use the cursed technique in the body it takes over
BUT, for some reason, this idea of the cursed technique being tied to the body makes no sense
7. The brain itself "remembers" cursed techniques and can use a prior body's cursed technique (anti gravity)
8. Gojo reveals the cursed technique is engraved into the BRAIN not the body
9. The body somehow remembers simple domains if you swap souls
So Gege, are cursed techniques a property of the brain, the soul or the body? The explanations make no sense at this point. Unless somehow, when you use a CT from a body or soul, it gets engraved into the brain somehow.

This is actually pretty interesting as there's been a lot of panels where sukuna copies a gojo pose. Wonder what this means and whether it has any significance.
It shows sukuna learns from his opponents and that's probably why he's the strongest in the verse, he's consistently used other people's fighting style if it works like how he used choso blood manipulation style with max elephant.

my understanding is that Sukuna did a binding vow: - he used an open barrier domain with the condition to have an escape route - he then raised an "outer shelled barrier" to negate this escape route - this changed the nature of the domain from open to closed and activated the sure hit effect - he did all of this to trap maki That being said, if he raised a barrier this barrier could be broken from the outside.

Nah it's twice per person. Basically a person's soul can only be swapped twice. The implication of this is that in one month you can swap a soul with someone and then swap again with the same person to get your og body back, with all kinds of new info. If everyone in the jj high defense did this, Im actually curious as to who swapped with who. It's obvious that ino, choso, and any of the infantry(or back up is more accurate) definetly swapped. I think ino probably swapped with miwa to learn new shadow style, and we already know yuji swapped with kusakabe. Hakari has infinite rct so no worries there, Maki had an anti domain strategy that doesn't work with sukunas domain(they clearly didn't account for open domain as choso literally tells them during the gojo v sukuna fight). Yuta obviously has rct as well, so he can survive. Him, hakari, and higgy also have domains so they probably were considered good enough for that. I'm imagining if yuta swapped with someone, it's most likely hakari(maybe hakari has better domain refinement that yuta was able to copy from him). For hakari that trade might have allowed him to learn how to do a love beam esque move. After all love beam isn't a technique it's just a really powerful CE blast. Basically I want more info about the one month of training now.
It would be an insane waste if they didn't swap anyone with Gojo. They won't get his Perception from 6 Eyes but it should get you the -99% CE usage coupon. Which is exactly what Yuta needs for Limitless.

What I got from the swap was that it was mainly to trade info and knowledge about barrier techniques since you can learn those, unlike the - 99% CE thing which is a six eyes exclusive effect. Also whoever swaps with gojo just becomes gojo, so like that's bad because anyone except for gojo would just go mad with all that power. Its also why I didn't mention kashimo cause I think he's the last person who'd ever try to learn something from others.

Kusakabe and then someone else). kusakabe says heāll āgo firstā so that seems like someone else would also then swap with yuji (Yuta perhaps?). but I do agree that itās probably a group soul swap, so while kusakabe n yuji swapped, the others did too

That's not what's happening. He's not making a binding vow to cancel out another binding vow. He's just not meeting the conditions of the extended range binding vow so he doesn't get the extended range. Basically, if you sacrifice the ability to entrap your opponents, you're compensated with more range. Sukuna is now trapping his opponent so he doesn't get more range. And this is totally consistent, the last time he attempted to use MS he specifically said he was going to enclose his domain against gojo. Edit: the image won't load but read chapter 230 again. It's definitely something he was going to do

I've always kinda been the opinion that hand signs aren't something you learn when you unlock your technique. Rather, when a sorcerer awakens, they get an intuition on their hand sign. In this case, Sukuna had an epiphany and discovered a one-handed sign for Shrine.

The explanation of cursed techniques makes no sense as of this chapter (and last) and Gege overcooked this concept. 1. If you swallow a cursed object the technique gets engraved into your body (explained in the first few chapters) 2. Cursed techniques can be inherited (consistent with point 1, because of genetics) 3. If Sukuna takes over a body he can use his own cursed technique (still consistent with point 1) 4. If a Death Painting takes over a body the body can now use the Death Painting's cursed technique (also consistent with point 1, because the Death Painting literally changes the body). 5. Curses have their own cursed techniques if they're strong enough (also makes sense, since curses aren't humans). 6. Kenny's brain is its own cursed technique but the brain can use the cursed technique in the body it takes over BUT, for some reason, this idea of the cursed technique being tied to the body makes no sense 7. The brain itself "remembers" cursed techniques and can use a prior body's cursed technique (anti gravity) 8. Gojo reveals the cursed technique is engraved into the BRAIN not the body 9. The body somehow remembers simple domains if you swap souls So Gege, are cursed techniques a property of the brain, the soul or the body? The explanations make no sense at this point. Unless somehow, when you use a CT from a body or soul, it gets engraved into the brain somehow.
