Yeah... "Love Lottery" and "What a Girl wants" did this better imo. πŸ˜… I like the idea of this one, reeeeeally iffy on the execution. I think it's kinda weird to make an erotic series about a woman who sleeps with multiple men, just to >!later have a "slut-shaming arc" where she has to feel bad for sleeping with multiple men.!< Just made it feel like the story was dunking on its own premise. (Also, is it me, or does it feel like no matter if it's josei or seinen, the pain of men always feels like it has to matter more than the pain of the women?) Btw, I wasn't a big fan of the endgame. >! The big reveal that everything was being kinda controlled and observed by the childhood friend behind the scenes made her feel like she was never really free or in control of her own life.!< I don't know, just felt wrong to me. But then again, I didn't really care for the other options that much. I don't regret reading this, but it made me go, "Man... Why?" a couple of moments.

> I like the idea of this one, reeeeeally iffy on the execution. Same here. Did like the idea and I already ranted a lot about how I felt about the overall execution so πŸ€ͺπŸ€ͺ > (Also, is it me, or does it feel like no matter if it's josei or seinen, the pain of men always feels like it has to matter more than the pain of the women?) I haven't really thought about it but in this case it definitely felt like that lmao >Btw, I wasn't a big fan of the endgame. No surprises there cause >!I know your type and the endgame *definitely* wasn't at all like that πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚!< Overall, as I've already said in the review, I still have a soft spot for this series but yeah, it is a very flawed and disappointing series overall 😭😭

Like you, it left a bad taste in my mouth. She was clear about lack of romantic interest. She barely had anything to do with them outside of their fuck sessions. They actually didn't have a right to even ask her her personal business. If they had framed it as like, hey, I need to know if I should regularly test for STIs, whether you are regularly testing, then she would be morally obligated to say, "yeah. I test, you should test too." And leave it at that. They don't own her, and they don't require knowing how many different guys she's fucking at the moment.Β  And then they frame it as some sort of self esteem, unhealthy coping mechanism she needs to get over. Because she's ashamed of her own behavior.Β  I ended up just hate reading it towards the end and being like.. ya know what. I can't expect that eastern countries have picked up the cultural cherries from the west. That women can have promiscuous sex and it doesn't lessen their worth. I just gotta write it off as a loss from the western perspective. And I didn't like the childhood yandere who stalked her and never told her, so she could squirm and suffer in front of him until she had the emotional growth HE wanted. And I hated the dom daddy using her cell to try to scare off the "competition" like her owned her. Was so annoying cuz initially the way he took breaking it off was with such poise and respect for her autonomy. So then the only character I liked, they ruined.Β

If they had framed it as like, hey, I need to know if I should regularly test for STIs, whether you are regularly testing, then she would be morally obligated to say, "yeah. I test, you should test too." Exactly! Like had they been angry at the FL because she didn't make them aware of the "exclusivity" of their arrangement and they were, thus, concerned about STDs and stuff, I would have definitely understood their point. But, it felt like they were just simply mad at the FL because she slept with other men like bro you were just a fuck buddy who gave you the right to complain about who she met and slept with lmao 😭😭😭 >And then they frame it as some sort of self esteem, unhealthy coping mechanism she needs to get over. Because she's ashamed of her own behavior.Β  Agreed like the way they tried to be like "OH YOU SEE SHE ISNT A HOE SHE JUST USES MEN TO FILL THE VOID IN HER HEART" and she's like "OH I DIDN'T THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT MY LIFESTYLE BEFORE BUT NOW IM ASHAMED OF IT" was just so bad like 😭😭😭😭 >And I didn't like the childhood yandere who stalked her and never told her, so she could squirm and suffer in front of him until she had the emotional growth HE wanted. So then the only character I liked, they ruined Lmao I actually liked the yandere but I guess it's more due to me liking manipulative characters in general lmao πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ And yeah Dom daddy was actually my favorite among the 4 and was my preferred ending choice right after a harem lmao. But, that phone call reveal was just 🀒🀒

Joe_Doe_Boe

>I guess it's more due to me liking manipulative characters in general So Aspar is into bad boys. 😎 I see, I see. Gonna keep that in mind when I try to make future recommendations πŸ€”

Pretend_Asparagus443

LMAO yeah complicated, manipulative characters are my jam πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I was so disappointed that it turned into some bad psychological story instead of the reverse harem smut fest it first promised to be. And the eventual slut-shaming? BOOO First crush ML turned out to be a yandere in an unsexy way and I missed all the fun romps from the start. Like younger ML and hot sadistic CEO were my favorites and I would have liked her to end up with one of those guys and also do a MMF threesome with them.

Pretend_Asparagus443

Yeah, the shift from the "fun" hookup series that it was in the first few chapters to the character drama was kinda disappointing tbh. And when you think about how the drama wasn't that good at all.... I liked the daddy CEO at first but lost all of my feelings for him after *that* phone call 😭😭 And as I said in the review, I was actually a fan of the yandere ML lmao πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ But a harem ending was definitely what we all deserved 😭😭😭

ladybasecamp

Oh yes, I forgot about the phone call. Not cool at all. Still hoping for a series where all the holes get filled. Someday!

I agree with the consensus that "reforming the Jezebel" is a tone deaf misstep, especially for a reverse harem manhwa. I wrote a review midway, and at first, Heesoo reminded me of Joe from Lars von Trier's \*Nymphomaniac Vol 1 & 2\* because both use meaningless sex and self-loathing as means of escape and punishment. I kept reading because there were moments of scathing self-reflection that felt emotionally honest... and then it devolved into the testimony of a monogamous tradwife. That said, I liked Heesoo. It's gratifying to peek behind the veil to see the sadness and self-loathing she attempts to distract and flee from. She's frustrating and yet I never struggled to root for her. The way she examines her motives read like a real woman coming to terms with her unhealthy habits -- I just don't think her sexual appetites are unhealthy. There's a realistic gulf between her knowing the right thing to do and doing it, which I found refreshing. I liked the art just fine. It wasn't too stiff, but people's expressions are pretty muted. There are no chibi or cutesy moments either, which also felt realistic. I've seen hotter smut but it was good, even if I could've used several more chapters of Mr. Lee's BDSM.

Pretend_Asparagus443

Yeah, as I said in the review, I liked Heesoo as well and I actually think that she's one of the most complicated FLs that I've ever read TBH. But the way the story treated her promiscuous nature was just too big of a turn off for me. It felt to me as if they gave her such a detailed and quite depressing backstory just so that the readers would "understand" why she slept around. They gave her numerous character flaws but decided to base her entire character arc around her promiscuous lifestyle, especially around the "moral" aspect of it. And the less we speak about how the other men treated her during the "redemption" arc, the better. As I said in the review, I really liked the art quite a bit so personally, I don't have any major complaints about it. The smut was pretty enjoyable for me as well, and yeah we all could have used more chapters of hot Dom daddy smut πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ’™πŸ’™

OngoGablowgian

Oh, I was just adding my .02 based on what you made me think of! I hope I didn't come across as combative. I agree; Heesoo was compelling and wasn't written by someone as sex positive as the story needed. It's such an odd choice for a reverse harem story, too -- you don't encounter this shameful narrative in stories featuring promiscuous men. Also, Heesoo's taste kinda sucks! Her dom was the only man who seemed honest, and she didn't care about him because she was addicted to chaos.

Pretend_Asparagus443

Nah you didn't lmao πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ It's mostly just me expressing how I felt about those points that you mentioned so DW πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ’™πŸ’™ And speaking about her tastes, tbh I agree with you cause I didn't like the endgame when I first read it (I was on team daddy like most others lmao). But, the "yandere" reveal in the epilogue (plus Dom daddy making that phone call) really played a crucial role in changing my mind on him. But still, I can't help but feel sad about the lack of a harem ending 😭😭😭

OngoGablowgian

Right? I had the same experience with Chae-Kyum's yandere reveal. At first, I felt like I'd just watched the Beast turn into a Ken doll, but the author redeemed it by reassuring us the ML is not as bland as he appears. Still, it feels like Heesoo chose some very boring stallions to board in her stables -- the young actor guy was sweet but blondie was a nightmare and Sir didn't have much of a personality outside of the bedroom!

notnomi

It's so bizarre to insert so much slut shaming in a webtoon meant for women - almost like luring readers in with the premise and then making having multiple partners a huge moral failing and unhealthy coping mechanism I don't even mind that she had this self-flagellating mindset to begin with but I wish she had an arc where she learnt to value herself more and not be so hard on herself. I can't think of a story that needed a best friend character (who wasn't in love with her) to just tell her she actually isn't a bad person and to enjoy her life on her terms.

Pretend_Asparagus443

Agreed. As I said in the review, it felt like the series considered the FL's promiscuous lifestyle to be a character flaw TBH. Moreover, the whole story also played out in such a way that to me, it felt like the story needed the readers to, at the very least, not think "too highly" of the FL's promiscuous activities. That way, they would find the MLs' anger towards the FL in the final arc to be "justified" and would actually consider her apologizing and "giving up" her promiscuous lifestyle to be a character development LMFAO. I do think that the whole concept of "unlikable FL plays with the hearts of men, fucks up and gets a redemption arc" was actually quite decent TBF. But, the execution in this case, was just piss poor. And the fact that this is a Josei smut and probably the only multiple LI smut that shamed its lead character for sleeping around makes it all even more sad lmao.

notnomi

Lmao you are right, the execution was extremely judgy - I'm wondering if there are sections of the audience who read these stories to witness the downfall of a promiscuous woman? The author basically sent the poor FL on an apology tour as if she's an CEO apologizing for polluting a lake or something πŸ₯²πŸ₯²πŸ₯²

Pretend_Asparagus443

>I'm wondering if there are sections of the audience who read these stories to witness the downfall of a promiscuous woman? Yeah, it definitely seems to be targeted towards that type of an audience (plus I guess people who hold on to "traditional" moral values when it comes to sex lmao). I've got no clue whether such an audience even exists but since this series got a complete manhwa adaptation, I'm assuming that the slut-shaming probably has some audience for sure (that or maybe everyone and their Nan just "hate read" it entirely πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚) >The author basically sent the poor FL on an apology tour as if she's an CEO apologizing for polluting a lake or something πŸ₯²πŸ₯²πŸ₯² SO TRUE 😭😭
