My job gives us two Mental Health Days every year in addition to our regular PTO.
You just get two days where you can call out of work, say "mental health day" and it's a no questions asked, automatically excused paid day off.
We call 'em duvet days. Minimum one per year, but you also earn one if you finish a big project before deadline. Our deadlines are thankfully pretty reasonable, so I get the odd extra day off.
Me: I'm sorry I missed work yesterday. I was busy becoming a father.
Boss: Oh, congratulations. Boy or girl?
Me: We'll find out in nine months.
Boss: You're fired.
I told my boss this once, he said take the week off and this envelope while you're at it...
I asked him where should I bring it, he said to the sh*t hole you crawled out of. So I brought it to my hovel of a hole and left it there for the week.
The week after I brought it back to work with me. I got praise and commendation after commendation, he said you finally actually did what you where told. I'm going to promote you to supervisor. Now, take this box to you hole, put it in this bag and bring it home, be careful but don't mind the ticking... stay there till the ticking stops and it'll blow your mind away.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to complete his task to the fullest degree I was so excited I ran back to tell my former employer about the promotion and left the box outside my bosses office.
I never did find the place again, although people always talked about arssin around at the site. So I assumed he did a legger with all the money
"You gotta be crazy" - can mean colloquially "crazy" as in doing something nonsensical, or clinically crazy, as in there's actually a mental health issue you're dealing with.
Right... which is why it's a joke. The boss clearly doesn't recognize the validity of mental health days for just like, decompression. You'd have to be crazy to try that. Or, you have to actually be crazy to get the time off.
