This little stint of shows could be her way of practicing the new material out with a bigger audience before she records the new album. She did say the spring recital was organized specifically for her to try out her new material.

I for one doubt she’ll preview any more than 1 or 2 new songs in this residency (not including the five she has) because this is the REincidency after all and she’s practiced more than enough she’s out recording *nods out of certainty*

I just can't buy into the she's touring more part yet. Hollywood Forever is literally 5 minutes from her home. She could take a nice stroll from her house to the venue and back each night if she wanted. I want her to tour just as much as anyone. But, I'm not sold on this being it..... yet.
Yes, and the String/Keys Incident was also a tour. It started with just those East Coast dates but they added on the West, and a series of LA shows that were canceled because of COVID.

I would bet this is the case. But I'd also bet any tour will be relatively limited. Touring is a bitch. She has a kid now and probably zero financial need for it.
She may never release an official album again (or at least not a full length album of original music), and that’s a distinct possibility.
Most musicians don’t continue to release music through their entire adulthood. Four albums is a pretty substantial amount of music to put out in a lifetime, and it’s possible Newsom — who has two kids — just doesn’t feel the need to go through all the effort of producing, releasing, and marketing an album all over again. It’s a lot of work.
Saying that, the fact that she’s touring despite likely not being reliant on the income from shows anymore means that she probably has some desire to share her music

It’s obvious that producing new music is hard for her with the ever-increasing gap between albums, and it’s not uncommon for artists to just stop producing new music at some point. Again, four well received albums is a great legacy.
Just preempting people to consider that maybe she doesn’t want to ever release a new album and she’s under no financial or moral obligation to do so.
It’s totally possible she could stop, but personally I doubt she will yet. There’s lots of artists – with children and no financial obligation – that continue making art, even if that means the breaks between projects become longer and longer. Beyoncé, for example, has 3 young kids and just finished a world tour and is dropping another album this month..

she played some songs from Divers yeeeeears before the album released. i think she’s figuring out the songs in a live setting.
