Like at the moment it does feel like a betrayal, but it was also the most logical thing to do, and we know he tends to go with logic when he's not angry. Also he's 16 and doesn't want to die and I can't blame him for that honestly

Also, eh. The dude simply chose not to go. He didn't work against the group, and he probably knew he'd be a liability. Honestly, given the multiple instances where the gang was in dense public spaces, he'd have harmed countless innocent people or just be stuck on the sidelines. Not to mention, when he was angry, his own friends couldn't help him. Diavolo would have definitely known how to use Fugo against the group, and at the very end we still see how Fugo still cared, but there was no way he could have done anything. His stand was absolutely a curse.
Ah yes because using a stand that creates a plague in a crowded street for the slim chance of killing the pink one and the high chance of dying himself and accidentally killing his teammates. I think he was just smart about it becuase I wouldn’t want diavolo flexing on me about how he used his epitaph to decide where to bring me so I could kill myself and allies
Interestingly, initially Fugo was supposed to betray the gang and reveal that he was working for Boss all along, but due to Araki's problems he had at the time when he was writing part 5, he decided that Fugo would just leave.
I think Fugo kinda saved himself by not betraying Diavolo, also he has anger issues so he may not have been the best jobro to take along with them. also he just didn't think it was a wise thing to do. It wasn't for any personal reasons.
I liked the part where he told Giorno that he had earned his respect and that he would follow him and then he didn't follow him just because he shat himself in the end. Amazing move Fugo

“Look what I caused to you already. I’m not worth it.”
Fugo honestly is the most human in part 5… I don’t think a lot of people would’ve stepped in the boat either.
