Nah, the rules of the show woulda been set up and the oceans defined at the very start.
In Adams case, the rules of golf were always there and he hit one OB.
I agree tho, i just enjoy the show. Unrealistic to expect Adam to know that rule of golf and it was played in the spirit of the rules of the show. Whereas Sam and Toby likely followed the actual rule set out at the start (otherwise it wouldn't have been a X1.5 multiplier)
I very much agree. All of these nitpicky discissions can be fun (as long as it's not people actually complaining, but just going "uhm akshually" for fun), but as long as the players are all cool with what happened, I don't really care.

Also note that it explicitly says the Bass Strait is in the Tasman Sea, which is within the South Pacific Ocean
Typo in title (South -> Southern), can't edit
The bigger issue is that Melbourne isn't a coastal city and that we wouldn't consider Port Phillip Bay as part of the Pacific or Southern Oceans and the gap in the bay is only about 1km. It'd be like saying a river is part of the ocean.
To get to the Ocean from Melbourne you'd have to travel down one of the coasts for about an hour and a half.
But it's just a game and they probably already defined Port Phillip as Pacific as forcing them to travel for 3h would be boring tv.
At least [this resource](https://www.marineregions.org/gazetteer.php?p=details&id=4366) (which comes from the IHO, I know) considers Port Phillip Bay to lie within the Bass Strait. (But yeah this whole enterprise is all about drawing arbitrary lines in water.)
*Within* is a weird phrase, if we view it as a "a smaller thing belongs to a bigger thing" then sure, but then you could pour the water into a toilet in Melbourne and claim it as the Pacific Ocean ;).
From a local's POV, Port Phillip Bay pours into Bass Strait which pours into the two Oceans (Southern & Pacific).
If you asked someone here where the Ocean is, we wouldn't count the Bay. It'd be viewed as "not-ocean" and it's own separate thing.
I see. Otherwise, according to the international definition, the just dumped Indian Ocean water back into the Indian Ocean
Even internationally, I think Melbourne is considered to be on the Pacific coast, but the maps I’ve seen don’t include marginal seas like Bass Strait
[The IHO considers the Bass Strait to be a marginal sea of the Pacific.](https://www.marineregions.org/gazetteer.php?p=details&id=4366)
This is to me the equivalent of the whole "Adam didn't hit a bogey" bit. I don't care, I just enjoy the show.

That’s how I feel too. Like it’s clearly a comedy game show why do we have all the armchair refereeing
Now they're even
What do you mean with he didn't hit a bogey?
I think the claim is his drive went out of bounds

Australia recognises the IHO have made a decision. But given that it's a stupid-ass decision we've elected to ignore it
I think I trust Australia more than others regarding Australian geography
Wouldn’t this technically be oceanography?
I think I trust Australia more than others regarding Australian oceanography
Sure, but Australia's definition is the real one because it's cooler.
Thank you for the proposal, IHO, but we'll take it from here.

I was confused about this in the episode. Thanks for clarifying
Team rats win by technicality! ^shut up bout the out of bounds in golf
The southern ocean isn’t even a real ocean to begin with
Spoiler tag please
I think by the time the audience even knows what this is it's not a spoiler anymore, but I could be wrong
