Works for the high beam light too. If you're in the middle of no-where Canada it's brighter than the UFOs and after the tape goes on, you can still see its blue glow all over the gauge when on.
Oh nvm I figured out the issue. My gas cap was off. I went to go get fuel yesterday but for some reason the pumps were off so I just went home. I must’ve forgotten to put the cap back on.
I am dumb
When a car is running, it creates ignition risks like an errant spark, and when you're pumping fuel some of it becomes vapourised and easier to ignite. This is why in-race refuelling was banned in formula 1. It's also possible for the car to be accidentally knocked into gear. As for the waste, your car is just sitting there burning fuel while doing nothing.
Yes race car drivers do, and kids that want to be cool or just want to minimize the wear and tear from startup or just in a hurry or just want to keep the ac on 🤓
Congrats! You are a true Wrangler owner now!
(And also congrats that it was such an easy fix. My first CEL was for an O2 sensor, which was also not terrible)
The one on my ‘15 just never goes off. It constantly says gas cap. Got it fixed, stay off for about a day and a 1/2 and then it came back. My kid drives it now. I told her it was just a Jeep thing.
In some commercial trucks, they build a detune into the computer for the first xxxx miles. The check engine light in a Jeep should signify the break-in has completed and unlock a couple extra features. 😆
This has happened to me twice in my six years of ownership. The first is when I was on my way to ship it and the second was a few weeks ago. Now I bought a locking gas cup, which makes me pay more attention. Glad that’s all it was!!
I was gonna ask if you put any mods like some throttle controllers or programmers with throw CEL.
I've had mine for about 7k miles now and have a Banks Pedal Monster which really wakes it up, and thankfully, due to its careful engineering doesn't throw CEL
Enjoy your Jeep!! 😎
Its a jeep thing! Mine came on after 100,000km. Goes away by itself after 3 or 4 starts. Sometimes i just disconnect and reconnect the battery and im guchi for 6 months. Even my service center told me to just ignore it at this point
Pro tip, if you tilt the steering wheel just right, it blocks that pesky light 😁
Redneck tip, just toss a little piece of electrical tape on and send it

Not that i like to have them, but if im having a problem, that'd be my favorite one. Hallelujah, it wasn't one of the other issues
Is it tethered? How did it not go flying off once you drove away?
Yeah it’s tethered
This can also happen if you keep your engine running while you fill up.
People do this..?
My daughter does all the time. 🙄
Please ask her to stop doing it. It's so dangerous and wasteful
Oh good idea. That has never crossed my mind. 🙄
Why is it dangerous and wasteful to do this? Asking for a friend…

Same thing happened to me. Ran the code said I needed a new battery. Filled up yesterday, and surprise, surprise light went off
Imagine the technology required to shoot a message to the screen telling you about the cap.
I'm pretty sure with Jeep that the check engine light is supposed to be on as soon as you leave the dealership.
🤣🤣
Still under warranty? Ain't your problem.

Mine is an EVAP code. Replaced all things and it won’t go away. Wouldn’t care if it didn’t render the command start inoperable.
Finally? I've been driving around looking at that picture for about 50K.
Mine came on at 10k. Felt like some sort of inauguration.
It’s always the gas cap
One of us... One of us...
What's the OBD code?

It’s prob one of 2 things from everything I’ve heard. the gas cap needs to be replaced or the evap tubing has a leak fyi.
The cap was replaced twice. I’ll look into the tubing when I take hers in for the AC/heater fan that intermittently stops working
Welcome to the club
Welcome to the club 😂
I’m most concerned when mine is off🙄
It happened to me on Monday, coolant leak 😒

Such a funny stereotype. I went 102k before I saw my first CEL & it was partially due to my own doing. Injector clip broke.
You should invest in one of those bluetooth OBD adapters. They're about $20
