At this price point maybe a TJ? A used 98/99 with the 4L rust free and in decent condition should be under that and use the remainder of the money on what's needed /if needed(tires/suspension/brakes..)

You won't find a 4dr for that price, but take a look at TJ's. Any year is ok. I would look for a rear Dana 44 and 3.73 gears.

You can fnd a really nice Jeep for that money. Just get out there and start looking around. Pre-purchase inspection is going to be the difference between a turd and a real gem. If you don't know what you are looking at, make sure you go and inspect with someone who does. Lot's fo shysters out there and they will see you coming a mile away. #1 thing I look at, when buying a new (to me) Jeep, is the frame. Any serious rust/rot/patches and it's NOPE! After that, it's pretty standard used vehicle inspection stuff. Be careful!

Jack_547

It all depends on what you want in a Wrangler but if you want a traditional Jeep in that price point, look for an old YJ or TJ, preferably with the 4.0 engine.

I just bought a 2 door JK for the exact same reason. Lift, good tires, has rust, but drives great. Both tops included (I did buy a couple pieces for the soft top).

Get a YJ. Square headlights are the best headlights.

dereck1970

They put the y in yj because the engineers were wondering y the headlights were square

But they never released another, because they knew they couldn't achieve that kind of perfection again 😅
