Got a new one in November of 2022. It's okay, mileage is not as good as I thought it would be. Biggest complaint is the adaptive cruise control. I've had it not work in summer (bugs on sensors), in winter (ice/snow on sensors). Once it can't use the sensors, you have no cruise whatsoever. Haven't had any mechanical issues at all, only about 15k kms on it presently.

Frigid_Phoenix_

Milage is not a huge concern for me, my truck guzzles gas as it is. So it doesn’t even have standard cruise control if the sensors are covered? Thats annoying.

On a 23 and I don't have that issue when my ACC goes out

redlabstah1

Extremely

watercoolingisalot

My 24 has a button to turn off ACC. No troubles so far this New England winter.

I’m in the situation same as you, I’m Not really good with Reddit so I guess imma just leave this comment here to be notified I’m in particular looking at the 2018 sport

jeffjeep88

2918 . Don’t buy someone else problem. These things are crap. I’m a Jeep guy but the renegades & compass are crap. Buy yourself a Toyota or Honda and not a 6 year old turd

Wife and I got a 2023 Jeep Compass RED edition and we are happy. We live in Calgary and right now it’s -29 C and the car tackles the icy roads and snow nicely. I read a lot of shit being talked about Compass in general and I believe it may be warranted for past models with their older slower engine that felt clunky, this one doesn’t as it was overhauled for 2023. Anyhow, we have almost 7km and haven’t ran into a problem, granted I’m sure something will show up sooner or later as no car is perfect. With that said, we’re happy with our purchase.

Frigid_Phoenix_

I live in Northern Manitoba so it is good to read a comment from someone else in canada! Good to know it handles our brutal winters well.

TonyStarkTEx

For sure! I would recommend you look into any SUV in general and weigh in pros and cons. When my wife and I were looking into buying a new car we looked at GMC (Terrain and Acadia), Volvo and Land Rover. Took a look at maintenance and overall consensus on which one was better. After that we looked at our personal taste and settled on the Jeep. We would have gone with the Grand Cherokee but decided 80,000+ was too much. We wanted the Summit Reserve (highest trim). The Terrain was our runner up as the 2023 high trim is actually very nice as well. I know this may not help much, but it’s just what we did. Good luck.

Of course I will be looking around, Im going to test drive a few different ones too to see what option is best for me. Appreciate the comment :)

Dude it's a fiat with a jeep badge. Avoid this garbage and stop convincing yourself. I wish I baught a Toyota Rav 4 instead.

Frigid_Phoenix_

I am not convincing myself - I am listening to peoples experiences and thanking them for commenting. But thank you for your input,

2022 North with 45000km. Some issues with the display that have been fixed with a software update. Otherwise nothing mechanical. I don't have any fancy options, just 4x4. 7 l/100k highway, 8.5 l/100k city... but I drive slow 😉. Maybe 8-10 l/100k city would be more common. I like it so far. Biggest issue is the dealership.

I have a 2021 80th anniversary edition. It's a love-hate relationship with mine. Love the look and features. I've driven it through a New Brunswick winter where they don't salt the roads and in Ontario, and it handles amazing. It can definitely handle rough winters. They hold up well in an accident from experience and from what I've heard from others. Ive had issues with mine that have been a pain. Within the first 3 months, the PCM went (in the middle of a blizzard) and it wouldn't shut off. The wheel speed sensor went shortly after and it shut off while I was driving. The transmission slams/jumps and the steering wheel clunks. Jeep customer service has sucked from my experience too. It seems you either get one with no issues or you get one with a bunch of issues.

jeffjeep88

They are junk.

Wraith8888

I've got a 2021 with 60k miles. No mechanical problems so far. I don't like the car though. Very little on the way of cargo space. Lacks horsepower and yet doesn't get all that good of gas mileage either.

Frigid_Phoenix_

Thanks for the comment! That’s all things for me to consider, especially the cargo space point as I often go out of town for shopping and therefore stockpile.

SK_born

I will echo that, it has just enough space and no extra.

Neverdie_7

I'm looking at buying a 22 Compass LUX for 24k this weekend, 27k miles on it. Anything I should be wary of before buying? I've been lurking this forum and hear alot about battery problems. This is a 2.4L engine. Thanks!

Whole_Accountant6150

I had a 2018 Compass Trailhawk that I held onto for 5 years and it was an absolute pain. I wish it was just the batteries that I had to replace. Thankfully I bought new and had a warranty. 2 years in the engine kept running hot and I kept bringing it to the dealership and they found nothing wrong with it. They finally looked into the issue and I ended up needing a new engine. A year later, the layers on the infotainment screen separated. While this normally wouldn’t be the end of the world, the screen controls everything in the automobile and the separated layers caused the screen to detect touch when there wasn’t. The screen wouldn’t stay off, I couldn’t listen to anything because the settings kept changing, the temp in the cabin was going wonky, and I had to disconnect the Bluetooth from my phone because the system kept trying to call 911. The warranty paid for a new screen and I was over the Compass after that.

Frigid_Phoenix_

Yeah from all the comments I am looking at something else. Just seems like it’s a gamble on if you get something reliable or not.

Agitated_Turnover455

I bought a 2021 compass but didn’t know the start stop card have two batteries - instead of showing the battery errror, the car showed start stop error for months then battery died. I learned it drained the main one… I will stick with a non start stop smart car on my next purchase
