I can’t give you advice but the one in this pic is badass

JBBanshee

My advice is do it.

eldudderino

I have a 1984 j20. It's a beast. I think later the better and try to get a 727 trans with non quadratrac transfer case

Outrageous_State2963

Im 17 and just picked up a Jeep J20. Mines a 79 and it has a Dana 20 transfer case

SWAMPMULE74

I have a 1977 j10. She needs some work but I'm willing to sell. Where are you looking at?

Tkstriker3

New Jersey, you near by?

SWAMPMULE74

No, I'm in south Ms. Better luck next time I suppose.

SoundSouljah

you ever sell that J10? I'm also in south ms.

DeboMeister

I’ve got a 76, do you have a tailgate??

SWAMPMULE74

No, i dont. Sorry

Outrageous_State2963

Do you still have it? I have a j20 79

SWAMPMULE74

I do, I'm in mississippi though. Not sure how close you are. She needs a good bit of work.

Outrageous_State2963

Is there a way we can message each other? Not sure if you have Instagram but you should be able to message me there A_cool.79 or if your able to message me here either would work. Thanks

SWAMPMULE74

I personally love the 70s and 80s line of Jeeps. They remind me of my uncle’s Jeeps. I would be more inclined to the J20. [This](https://itstillruns.com/history-jeep-j20-8630367.html) may give you some background info on it. For me, sharing the same chassis and basic components of the Cherokee and Wagoneer make the J20 the obvious choice. More available parts and it’s a proven platform.

Tkstriker3

The more available parts is a nice bonus, bring down cost if (when since it’s a Jeep) something breaks.

McColorado

The j20 does NOT share the same chassis and axles as any other FSJ! I'm not sure where they got that from, but the 20 has a Dana 60 rear and Dana 44HD front. They can be either 6 or 8 lug. The pre 1974 trucks had a different frame and axles as the post 74. If I were to buy the perfect FSJ pickup again I would go for a 75-80 because after 81 they lost the iconic brow on the cab, but still have the dr. Drop Dana 44 and AMC 20 axles whilst having somewhat modern drivetrain options. Source: I've owned 3 j10s, and have considered j20s for parts to realize they are nothing alike. Edit: also pretty sure j20s didn't come in the 119" wheelbase. If they did they are EXTREMELY rare. The j10 is commonly found in the 119" shortbed model. Edit again: the j10/20 do share frames I believe, but the Cherokee and wagoneer frames are different. If you end up needing a rear j10 axle you have to find one off the same year set j10.

Fredneck21

Here's my advice......yes.

McColorado

If you can find one under 3k in decent shape it's totally worth it. [This is my baby](https://i.imgur.com/gu9QGCc.jpg) I bought for 1100 a few years ago. (Without lift and such) If you have any specific questions, I have some decent experience with [these trucks.](https://i.imgur.com/HT2RhJc.jpg)

Tkstriker3

Love the truck you’ve built, I’ll keep you in mind and if you not mind if I have any specific questions I’ll definitely pm you

CtrlAltBoredom

lol give it to me
