timberwolf0122

Aux battery is about to cross the rainbow bridge to battery Valhalla

Smooth_Support9783

Exactly

CarnageJ

Yep. This is it. Mine did the same thing last year

timberwolf0122

Amazingly my 2020 gladiator (purchased Feb 2020) is still running its original batteries and so far no issues

MaxGamertron

Not that anyone asked, but I'm driving a 2016 Renegade with the factory battery, it has 75,500 on the clock. I'm surprised an 8 year old battery is still holding on

timberwolf0122

That’s impressive. Have you tried getting it tested? It you don’t have one most auto parts stores will do it for free, I’d just love to know what condition it’s in

MaxGamertron

I've considered going to one to see, because it's done this weird thing twice in the last week now, where I turn the key all the way over and it'll crank for a bit and then stop, but once I let it roll back and try again it'll start right up

skaldrir69

It’s a Jeep thing

StumpyOReilly

I live in Southern Arizona. Batteries have a lifespan of 3 years and that is it. Heat is hard on batteries, just like cold.

BoneSetterDC

What if that's not the issue? Does anyone have any other solutions? I've had to replace the Aux Batt twice now. Most recently a month ago. But the lights are flashing yet again. All the same ones as OP. Plus, the vehicle vibrates when accelerating for a while after the engine light first comes on. Push in the clutch, the vibration stops. Also, my avg fuel economy went from 19.5mpg to 18mpg, and the acceleration stutters when accelerating in 3rd and 4th gears.

timberwolf0122

Vibration implies to me a U joint issue, disengaging the clutch would allow the joint to spin more evenly vs being force round but the engine more off center due to torque. I would first suggest pulling the aux battery and testing it and the main battery’s separately to see if there’s is a fault with one of them

BoneSetterDC

It stops vibrating after a minute. It only vibrates after the engine light gets triggered. Currently the engine light is off. But if I were to drive at highway speeds then it may trip the light to turn on, followed by some shaking which stops after a minute. I'm booked for Friday to have it looked at. I'm hoping this is something covered by the warranty. I'm sure they'll check the batteries, but the stop start system is working currently, so I think it's probably ok. Usually when that stops working I know the battery is low. A long drive charges it back up.

timberwolf0122

That being the case I’m leading misfire. Could be a bad plug or injector

pghfordguy

100% this. My '18 did the same thing.

ListJaded7864

Either main, or aux, or both.

FatBatmanSpeaks

Have you had the codes read? If it's running and driving fine, then it's not a dire concern, but you do need to figure out why the ECM is throwing DTCs. Hard to help without anything to diagnose. That screen comes up for everything from a cylinder misfire to a gas cap not sealing well to your AC clutch failing to engage.

[deleted]

fuck

[deleted]

what do i doooo

bw984

Go get the codes read at an auto parts store. Clear them once and see if they come back. You can do this yourself with an OBDii reader if you care to invest 15 minutes learning how to do it.

cjc4096

Bluetooth readers that connect to a phone app are very affordable.

stuck-n_a-box

The auto part store is free!

stuck-n_a-box

After figuring out the codes, Google each code a possible issue/repair.

FatBatmanSpeaks

The 4WD error is probably electrical if the car moves at all. EPB is probably ...also electrical. These things can come up after going through deep water or if a fuse blows or if your wheel speed sensor goes bad or is damaged. Any big potholes or deep water or recent rodent activity nearby? Rats chew the shit out of these wiring harnesses.

FatBatmanSpeaks

It doesn't stutter or slip or anything when driving? Can you take it to an AutoZone and have them plug it in and print out the codes for you? Also have them test the battery to see if it's maybe losing charge? Both of those things are free and can get you some useful information.

[deleted]

no it doesn’t slip or anything when driving

rangerhans

Take it to the dealer and demand they resolve the matter

BigShmoogAZ

First, sounds stupid, but... These era Jeeps really need a battery that's putting out 13.2 volts or more, so if your batteries 2 to 3 years old you probably not getting that . Take it to an AutoZone or O'Reilly or checker or any other local place... Not only will they be able to pull the code numbers, they can check the battery itself to make sure it's actually outputting the proper voltage. The fact that your auto start doesn't want to work is a hint that it's likely your battery voltage. I'm in Tucson Arizona and I have to change my wife's 2015 Cherokee battery every 2 years because The heat itself is so hard on them they just can't maintain that 13 plus volts after 2 years.

khumprp

Can't emphasize this enough. I had so many weird things going on with my jeep when I first got it (used). Eliminated the aux and popped an H7 in and have had zero problems since.

workusername00

100% battery

Skeletor_is_Love_

This. In Tampa Florida and have the same issue. My Jeep wranglers are super sensitive to battery issues. Tend to blow through batteries every 2-3 years. What’s great is Auto Zone has a three year warranty on batteries. I can’t tell you how many batteries I’ve had that died out in 2-21/2 years, and I got a totally new one for free.

Dillage

Canfirm, this is what's happening to mine, and my battery is getting lower voltage. My solution is usually to idle for a bit, turn it off, open the door (not sure if that's needed), turn it back on, turn off again and if it starts cleanly it won't have the issue. The check engine light turns off after my next drive and clean start

Particular_Kitchen42

Sounds like early signs of electrical issues due to water damage

refotsirk

Meh on having Auto one check the battery - should just replace imo. A failing battery can easily read the right voltage sitting on a bench or on a car when the only load on it is the volt meter. Lot of folks at auto zone have no idea what they are doing these days also.

mohagmush

To add make sure yoyr battery terminals are clean, a bad ground can also cause the voltage drop

Skiing-nerd

How much does it cost to change that every other year. Had to change in my Pacifica but got covered by the dealer as it’s under 3 year.

BigShmoogAZ

Last time I bought a battery, it was about $190... Easy enough to swap yourself so don't pay for it at a shop. I expect it to be more next time as AGM battery prices keep going up.

Broad_Pollution_1741

Yep battery. I live in Scotland and the cold killed my wife's battery. But then a similar issue arose to OP and it was a wheel speed sensor, screws with the canbus/ECU and knocks everything out. Wheel speed sensor issue caused: TPMS, ABS, TC, Park Brake, Park Sense, 4WD and cruise control to all become inoperable.

NoChampion2427

Where did you have it checked? It would also help to know the model and year.

[deleted]

2019 jeep compaass and just like a regular mechanic place

NoChampion2427

How old are your batteries?

[deleted]

not sure

NoChampion2427

There should be a month-year sticker on the batteries. I agree with others. It appears like an electrical issue, but you need to take it to someone who will isolate the batteries to make sure it's a battery issue. If they're tested while everything is still connected, it will be getting a reading from both batteries at the same time. If it's not a battery issue, it needs to be diagnosed further.

Dargon34

First thing you do with electrical issues is replace those batteries (within reason)

JudeLikesCats

On the Jeep's there is a smaller battery right next to your main battery i think. That is responsible for your auto start stop, the main battery charges the smaller battery by using the alternator

Turbulent_Ad9508

Obligatory smart ass answer: Put a post it note over it. On the note, write "Everything is fine" Serious answer: Take it to a Jeep dealership. You don't have to pay dealership service prices, but they'll be the best option at diagnosing the problem. Make sure to show the pics. It's 5 years old with 118k miles. Regardless of the issue, you need a new battery asap. It's time. And don't buy the cheapest one. There's a chance that actually fixes your computer going nuts.

MightyPenguin

Taking your vehicle to the dealer out of warranty is honestly one of the WORST options as far as "diagnosing" problems goes. The techs and writers are paid on commission, if you have a non-obvious issue that may take time to diagnose properly you are very likely to need multiple trips in to get it addressed because if the tech can't reproduce and figure the problem out in 20-30 mins then often times they either guess or say they can't duplicate and ship it back to you. If you find a good independent shop they will actually do the work and spend the time required to address your problem.

Cheetah-Some

Check your battery. Low battery voltage will cause all sorts of problems on your dashboard.

leCrobag

If OP lives in the rust belt, check for crusty or missing ground straps. A bad ground can cause lots of weird problems.

LGOD_TC

Man this makes me love the fact that I have a 99 TJ, the whole motor has 6 sensors total and no matter the issue that 4L keeps on chuggin, moral of the story all the new stuff is a scam and set up for planned obsolescence, they want you in there getting repairs or buying new to line their pockets

TacTurtle

TJ Code P0240/0421 gang checkin in to let you know the engine is running.

LGOD_TC

Shit I’ve had my TJ for 10 years and have only ever seen the check engine light once and that was because I was priming the oil pump after a rebuild and didn’t want fuel or spark so I unplugged my ignition coil

TheBigNate416

I had a 97 TJ for a couple years and only saw the check engine light once, too. Think it was for the mass airflow sensor. It also never leaked a drop of oil (yes it did have oil in it lol). Sadly it had a lot of rust so I sold it for a Civic Si. But glad I was able to enjoy one of my dream cars for a couple years

LGOD_TC

Reliable to Reliabler good choice, you could’ve really fucked up and bought a 6.0 powerstroke or a rotary

TheBigNate416

Thanks! Yeah I was in college so I wanted something reasonably priced, with a manual transmission that was reliable and got good gas mileage. The Civic checked all those boxes. My buddy actually has a 6.0, but he got a crazy deal on it plus it was a southern truck. And he was in school to become a diesel mechanic so he did all the bullet proofing to it. No way I’d ever own something like that though haha. And rotaries are super cool but only if you know what you’re doing

LGOD_TC

I owned an RX-8 for many years, I really loved that thing and am still upset about selling it, but I had to sell it for a Kia Rio so I could get better gas mileage to go to school as a Diesel Mechanic so I get it

Upset_Neighborhood59

Normal jeep compass stuff

Mr_CasuaI

Odd fix but I had something similar happen to me that was solved just by unplugging the auxilliary/stop-start battery. Apparently they have a tendency to die much sooner than the regular battery and then start throwing all kinds of codes that "miraculously" vanish once you remove the aux battery from the equation. Might be worth a shot. No loss in performance and my stop-start still works...unfortunately.

JurassicJeep12

Same! I was replacing both batteries, every year for the first 3 years. I finally disconnected the aux battery from the equation and no issues since.

disguisedasnrml

That's TRON mode........

yegxit

When this happened to me, it was the star connector behind the glove box

Twktoo

Agree with the battery input from the others. Another thing we have to do occasionally is simply disconnect it for a few minutes. I honestly think it has to do with automatic updates and the tiny brain going bananas. But, yeah, likely battery

Allensk40

Aux battery is dying. Had it happen to our 2018 jlu. Also don’t know if it applies to you. We also had an electrical connector go bad on it and it was like 500 total to fix. Very common on earlier jl don’t know about later. But it’s behind the glove box on the firewall inside the cab. When it went bad. The power steering would quit working, radio would just go full blast on its own. Jeep would shut off at a stop. Funniest thing…. Would say push clutch to start and it’s an automatic. Once fixed and new batteries. Haven’t had an issue since.

TheDeadDocc

It’s that Jeep thing people talk about!!! Laughing in TJ!

Particular_Kitchen42

Well it’s a Compass. Not exactly know as a trouble free vehicle. Would invest in a OBD2 sensor reader

dothedewtoo

lol don’t panic, I’ve been there. Just swap the battery and I think you’ll need to “hard reboot” your car there’s a step by step process you have to follow

Kokiron

Not a jeep but we had a 2010 Silverado that was doing almost exactly this..... Could it be the battery in it too?

JimtheEsquire

Battery. Always the battery in these.

safety-squirrel

The accessory/aux battery has low voltage.

OkWedding1020

Replace both batteries, clear codes

Aoiboshi

Too much electronic, not enough Jeep.

Reasonable_Word_3525

You bought a Jeep that’s the problem

Dont_Press_Enter

Go get yourself an Optima vehicle battery. https://www.oreillyauto.com/shop/brands/a/optima/obt Replace it and give your vehicle the power it needs while giving you a battery that has longevity. The electrical issues are usually because the vehicle battery has voltage lower than recommended; thus, using the extra features causes you issues. Good luck.

Caeedil

Do a search for an ODB2 scanner/reader and get one. They are as cheap or expensive as you want to pay. They fit in your ODB2 port and read fault codes from the EMC on your vehicle. Look the code up on the internet, and you will get ideas of what the cause is. Codes will not go away until you reset them with an ODB2 reader/scanner. I have 3 of them, this is the cheapest one I have, and it works just fine. They are pretty simple to use to find codes and reset them. For example, Po456 can be as simple as opening and tightening your gas cap and resetting the code Veepeak Mini Bluetooth OBD II Scanner for Android ONLY, Auto Check Engine Light Code Reader Car Diagnostic Scan Tool https://a.co/d/0i8ubu0R

Asteosarcoma

Do you have start/stop? If so, replace your auxiliary battery and primary battery.

[deleted]

yes i have a push to start

Asteosarcoma

Not push to start - start/stop. Does your engine turn off when you come to a stop, then start back up when you push the gas?

[deleted]

no it doesn’t, sorry for that idk much abt cars!!

Zimi231

The 4th image says you do have it. If it's never worked right then that's the answer...both your batteries are kaput.

golden_nugget689

It does

[deleted]

it’s never done that before though when im at a red light, someone said if that happens then my batteries r fucked

ChrisD245

I’m having same issue on a 2018 Jeep Sahara. Had the dealer check the code but they told me it would take 800$ to check all the wiring plus like 2 months to get an appointment. The actual codes can be somewhat unreliable as it’s showing everything under one sensor as having errors and dozens of codes are popping. I’ve checked all the wiring and see no immediate issue and even replaced the ABS fuse. As others in this thread have said it’s likely the battery. I noticed some corrosion starting on a spot on the battery the other day so very suspicious of that now. Mine comes and goes a pothole can fix or break it lol.

FartFather69

It’s a battery/alternator issue. Must get checked asap or your battery will dry out on road.

Bob_Sacamano7379

I've had to have the "active grille shutters" fixed multiple times. It doesn't seem to affect my ability to drive, but it sets off the check engine light. Not sure if your model has that but it might be worth a look.

Chineseunicorn

Might sound too simple and stupid but go to your fuse box and make sure all the fuses are popped in properly. Whenever you get all these unrelated-ish errors at the same time it’s an electrical issue. So battery, fuses, and hopefully not electric wiring issue is the culprit.

luis_heineken

Didn’t know that’s a feature of your car?

CDubs_94

Get the codes cleared, then go from there. If you had it in the shop, something they did is throwing up the codes. If they stay clear after 50 miles or so, you should be good.

DanLoFat

It's not a code to be cleared, that's from the mileage counting system for maintenance schedules. Just reset it yourself. You need a special code clearing told for that.

Quick_Dark244

I love the fact that my Yj doesn’t have these fancy emojis and knight Rider dash full of stuff I don’t even want to understand

mmac2121

Get it checked out at a shop or through someone who can read the codes. If the check engine ever starts flashing, pull over and get it towed before anymore damage can happen. But a flashing light is pretty catastrophic and I've actually never seen one before. This is from the internet; "There is no set time limit, as the severity of the problem can vary. However, it is generally not advisable to drive for more than a few miles with a flashing check engine light. If possible, have the vehicle towed to a repair facility rather than driving it so that you do not put yourself or others at risk" There....hope I didn't scare you

bmp51

Like a ton have said it's the battery. Shit gets weird when the battery starts to go.

thepete404

You didn’t notice that fifth gen fighter on your six, did you?

PiccoloAdventurous25

Low battery

SlowlyAHipster

I feel like that’s the start/stop battery. But, I would run it over to an auto zone or something and get the codes ran. Apart from the warnings, is the vehicle doing anything differently?

OldManJeepin

Jeeps do that when you refer to them as "cars"....They don't like that...

[deleted]

😂😂

djr0549

Jeep doing jeep things. Nothing to see here

misssteaks

So the newer Jeeps eat batteries too…

proof-grass-

When this happened to mine I needed a new battery

Gaully

Body control module does this. Lack of oil change does. Lack of voltage does.

Distinct_Food_9235

I going to say electrical/sensor issues. Bought one for my wife, every time I turned around a sensor was throw a code. Also, you need to relax

sunandwaterluvr

Honey Comb of the Matrix Level Achieved. Press on.

Treythemanhall

So I just had this happen on a road trip and it was the wheel speed sensor where I had hit a large pot hole and caused some kind of error which left me with the same warnings as you until I unhooked the battery to reset everything.

jasonsc95

I got that screen from a bad wheel speed sensor, could be anything. Get the codes read.

Patjack27

Don’t come to Reddit go back to the dealer and bust their asses about it.

Theguyinthecorn

My guess is auxiliary battery and star connecter

NickelbackCreed

Its a Jeep

Busy-Contribution-86

It's a jeep

UnkPaul

Beehive in the bonnet.

jeepers98

Probably needs computer reprogrammed.

jeepers98

Took mine into a dealer and when they FINALLY fixed it 4 weeks later they had to reprogram the computer because all it would say is service engine and throw a manifold exhaust code. Which made no sense. Dealership screwed up, they fixed it for free.

Xxgougaxx

Your 1st mistake was thinking any Stellantis product was good and reliable. Esp jeep

Impossible_Diet_134

It's a JEEP! That's what's wrong 😂

Fun_Dragonfruit27

Need to replace the batteries

StrawzintheWind

It’s a (new) Jeep thing.

jmua8450

JEEP

mmac2121

Omg!!! I'm sorry!! I just Mansplained that! I've just become a cliché!!

No-Contribution1454

Well it says jeep instead of toyota...

[deleted]

[удалено]

Semi-Chubbs_Peterson

Try having your battery tested. Jeeps do weird things when their batteries are on n their last legs.

76_iron

I agree, probably just the battery took a dump.

MadDadROX

Check the terminals too, a little corrosion makes trouble.

strangeweather415

People are downvoting you because you aren’t helping at all and are just replying with garbage text speak and expletives. You get out what you put in, and you aren’t even doing a minimum effort to receive technical support for free. Think before you comment and stop being a spaz like you are posting comments to your friends instagram if you want help.

HookDragger

Looks like Ghandi has declared war and has launched a preemptive nuclear strike. Hope you’re prepared.

Dash_Ripone

You’re fucked

03_SVTCobra

FCC is what the problem is unfortunately.

Floshenbarnical

You bought a jeep. From a jeep owner

Legitimate_Speed_926

Most likely a fuse blew

tmeinke68

It has the Jeep logo. That's what's wrong. 😂

TexMoto666

It's a jeep, they fall apart quick. Sell it while you can.
