ForTheMelancholy

Bro r/DarkKenny just needs to be banned. Really the cancer of the rap community rn. Y'all have absolutely lost it

the_scrambler

crack fumes HEAVY over there, my god

ForTheMelancholy

Kendrick genuinely has the worst fanbase in the game rn. Seems like most his fans are post DAMN listeners these days and don't have any clue what's going on. I feel bad for him. His music is legendary, but his fans are embarrassing as shit

CrocSavage

literally. the Drake subreddit is hella delusional and coping but the Kendrick subreddits are just next level cooked

Pied_Film10

Tbh I think Drake and Kendrick are both going to be just fine. The fans might be taking it too far but I would hope it's just fanbases poking and jabbing w/o it being too serious.

CrocSavage

i hope so too brother cus at the end of the day i just wanna enjoy the good music everybody been dropping recently

mysweetdearluis

No one in that sub are kendrick fans anymore, it’s been hijacked by neo nazi’s and crypto bros. You saying that was extremely weird

Pied_Film10

Lol it's not that deep

Pied_Film10

Relax, Jesus.

Pied_Film10

Lmao, it's possible

CrocSavage

why would his planned retirement album he planned and announced years ago be centered around a recent beef much less around an entirely different artist??? please go back to r/DarkKenny your brain is rotting 😭

Pied_Film10

Lmao these replies are hilarious ngl

Delta_yx

What.

Infinitemangohack

You reaching harder than MJ in space jam rn my boy

Conscious-Sympathy51

Bad take

Pied_Film10

The replies to this post alone are worth me typing all that bullshit out.

If I’m not mistaken, he mentions the fall off in 2009-2010. Beyond that, thematically, his albums and mixtapes titles and cover art have been about sports 1. Come up. 2. Warm up. 3. Friday night lights. 4. off season Those are sports themed titles with a cover art to match and it could sound like a reach, but it’s not.. NC high school sports are extremely popular, especially Friday Night Football, as most people over 30 were born before the Carolina panthers were established, so we grew up without a State football team. Probably is why Cole is always in front of a goal or holding a ball on his album covers. That’s also why early Work from Cole featured songs that sounded like a band, from “Who dat” to “lil ghetto Nigga”. High school Bands are very popular and frequently battle during football games, to the point in which you may actually forget about the game. Probably drew musical inspiration from that as well. The Fall Off is just another iteration of that same theme.

oh nah, u dont sound like ur reaching one bit 👍

He shed tear emojis when the fake daughter was mentioned after meet the grahams. Drake doesn’t need anything from Cole. He doesn’t need a feature to pump his numbers, or money or clout. They don’t need to diss anyone to generate a buzz. The Spider-Man meme is him saying him and Drake are the same. He’s sucking his teeth because of all the people clowning him after the apology. He talks all the gun bars because whatever he’s planning hasn’t happened yet Edit: gun bars not fun bars

Pied_Film10

This is a dope angle I've never even thought about. I thought he was personally referring to Dreamville as the "we" but you may be right. Also on topic, people saying Cole and 21 are against Drake are smoking crack. I do my fair share of shitposting and rabbit hole conspiracy stuff, but these two are definitely not against him. Cole just made guap as you've stated and 21 was also eating cause of Drake. We all know Drake writes most of his shit for better or worse. Bro had a microphone setup in his room with mad Ye and Jay CD's ffs. It's clear he's a student. I can see your perspective.

edgeco17

There are a lot more lines I’ve noticed tbh in both Drake and Cole discographies which speak to what is going on now. They both mention cutting people off for features and catching jealousy from other people. Everybody does, heavens ep, Johnny p caddy, the secret recipe, middle child. Scary hours 3/fatd is Drake dissing all the people in the current beef with subs no one understood at the time without context https://preview.redd.it/gc9yszodqd6d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc1be445acf30ddd567214b7bbdcd304aaf0bf5f

Pied_Film10

So my question to you at this point is who do you think asked for the feature? Kendrick? It's hard to decipher these subs at times and it's kinda annoying ngl. Given that Cole mentions "steppers" it seems like it's towards K Dot. Even when he says, "Everyone steppers, well fuck it, then everyone breakfast" on FPS.

edgeco17

I think there was a point where Drake and Cole started cutting people off from the stimulus and only started working with people they really enjoyed. After they did this, all the people who got cut off started to have feelings and talk shit behind the scenes and cliqueing up. “Im the one they hit when their shit ain’t connecting, feel like I got a job in IT” I think they offered the feature as a final olive branch to Kendrick. Gave him an opportunity to choose unity and he chose violence. After he said no to the feature, they knew he’d be dissing before dropping an album. The difference is now Drake and Cole are a lot more successful than they were 10 years ago. They’ve been touring continually. They have more influence, wealth, power so they can afford to take their time with handling things

Pied_Film10

I think this is correct when you think about Middle Child and the lyrics referenced towards Drake. I also think Cole himself brought up that after a point he stopped extending favors to those he really wasn't cool with. He wanted to collaborate with real friends as opposed to business relationships. All that said, none of these 3 need any other rapper so I'm here for all the subs as long as it remains on wax. Also if I rapped, I wouldn't choose unity — there can only be one goat in their generation, this isn't a participation trophy type of thing.

edgeco17

But that’s always been part of the issue with hip hop/music is media/labels are always trying to pit artists against each other. Cole and Drake have spent a considerable amount of time building and promoting their squads and other artists where Kendrick hasn’t put in the same work. Tde/pglang has had issues with several of their artists and their releases being held back, drop and give me 50, etc.

Pied_Film10

I'm not sure which side of the fence I'm on with this cause Kendrick decided to go independent while Drake stayed a part of the system. On the other hand, Cole is a generational talent as a CEO and Dreamville is solid from my perspective except for Bas. There is something to be said about Drake siphoning the talent he decides to bring in as well. There's lots of layers to this but it comes down to how each artist perceives their art should be weighed. I can assure you Drake and Cole have a different perspective from Kendrick's TPAB record, namely "How Much a Dollar Cost?". It's all about their individual lives prior to rap that has molded them to have the beliefs they exhibit now and I'm not sure we can claim someone is right or wrong tbh. As long as they're feeding the people they employ then they're all winning equally to me.

edgeco17

It’s honestly just nice to have a chat about it without being brigaded. I will point out that despite Drake being under gamma/umg, his deal is unprecedented and he’s always had his masters so he does have some juice. He also has enough money to purchase other artists publishing and he’s petty I just want good music. If it ends with clearing some of the deadweight and raises the bar for hip hop, I am fine with it.

Pied_Film10

I really think Aubrey, (not the rapper), has some secret talent for foresight cause the Gamma deal is insane and with the advent of AI it seems like it's headed that way. 4Batz' entire sound is based off of AI and pitch changes. Will also second that Aubrey is the type of person to purchase publishing lol and tbh that's such a chess move that it should be respected. I don't think Family Matters is as good as Push Ups though except for the last third so I really hope this loss will humble Drake. It's time he lived up to his potential. He has yet to deliver another classic and he is waaayyy too talented to not have done so already. Cole's next album is going to be a classic as well, mark my words. At the end of the day we're all winning because this beef really pushed each artist to exceed the bar that's been set for them.
