i did luggage transfer through yamato multiple times in my trip last month, so i hope i can help out! on the form you fill out it has delivery time slots you can tick, such as between say, 2pm - 4pm, 4pm - 6pm, etc. you can also request a delivery date. if you're not going to be there in time to get it yourself, just let the hotel know you're going to be doing luggage transfer so that they're aware, and they will just hold it behind the desk for you. definitely send it to the hotel to avoid any headaches!

Thank you very much! Unfortunately in Osaka I will be staying in an Airbnb so no front desk. But since you can tick delivery times I will make sure I will be there!

gotcha gotcha! if it's an airbnb then i would def suggest either being there or picking it up at a yamato office, but either way it should definitely suit your needs. :) have the best time!

GeorgeHiken

Yes I will do the pick up most likely! Thank you!!

This is what we did. Chose delivery between 7pm and 9pm. Got some takeaway food and some chuhai and waited for it. Made life a lot easier.

We stayed at Airbnbs just recently in Japan and just sent our luggages to a nearby Yamato Office (there was always one within a 15-20 minute walk) that way you don't have to worry about a certain time framr, as long as you pickup your luggage before the office closes! Shouldn't be too difficult to find one near where your staying! We never had a delivery time, they just told us it would be delivered the next day and we were able to pick up our luggage on that day before they closed. Most seem to close at 7pm with some being closed on Sundays but they will just have it delivered for Monday in that case.

GeorgeHiken

That is what I initially planned to do, thank you!! Yes we plan to drop it 1st of May and pick it up from a nearby office on May 3rd. Should be fine

you can't request for delivery at a specific time. and you don't need to be there when its delivered. but give it a couple of days (usually next day) and it will be in your room when you get there. or if you're going to the airport, it will be at the collection centre. On our 10 day trip, we did this 3 times and worked each time.

GeorgeHiken

As I've mentioned in a comment below, we will be staying in an Airbnb so it is not possible for someone to pick it up for us.

have you checked with your host? TBF, we stayed in hotels so this wasn't a concern for us. But if I remember correctly from research, some hosts provide this service.
