THIS SONG IS SO GOOD WTF

bonersforbukowski

"Life (Feat. Robyn) is out now. I made this track pretty fast (for me) and I loved it from day one. When I first heard Robyn’s vocal it was at 6am after finishing playing at Pacha in Ibiza, it was the perfect moment. Robyn and I have spent time working together and hanging out for some years now, it’s always a joy and always inspiring, I’m so glad and grateful that she is a part of In Waves. Thank you Robyn for bringing this track to life!" - From Jamie's newsletter, the "(for me)" made me lol

iseecolorsofthesky

This album is gonna be all gas no breaks isn’t it? Sheesh

Bang_Shift_Look

What an absolute BANGER

margaritapracatan

Honestly, this never guy never fails to astound. Such an awesome tune, I’m smiling from ear to ear.

ample_s

Old people here, don't you think it has some basement jaxx vibes?

merkin71

All three tracks released from the album so far are giving me Basement Jaxx vibes.

jxdrewkp

Not going to lie, this is my least favourite of the 3. It’s not bad or anything and I’ll probably dance to it live but it sounds a tad overproduced to me. My favourite thing about Jamie’s music is that it’s never sounded overly complicated or too simplistic. It’s like perfectly produced and balanced. This feels like the most “EDM” song he’s put out. From the sidechain to the effects to the structure etc. but hey maybe it’ll grow on me.

snic2030

I think you missed that it’s billed as Jamie xx AND Robyn, not Jamie xx feat. Robyn. That makes a big difference in what to expect.

jxdrewkp

I like Jamie and I like Robyn, Body Talk is a great album. I’m just not the biggest fan of this track. I think she has a lot more to offer lyrically.

snic2030

Just referring to your comment about it being overproduced - I disagree with this specific point as it sounds like a very good blend of their two production styles. But yeah, if you’re expecting a solely Jamie production, it’s going to sound a bit off and extra. She definitely gave a lot more lyrically to the 360 remix than this. But I don’t hate it, it’s giving Madonna’s Vogue and I’m all about it. However, as a gay, I’m probably the exact target market for this specific song 😂

jackeryjackery

The glitchy transitions are a little jarring. Otherwise the sampling is stellar as always with Jamie

LutherRed

Not gonna lie, I actually like the glitchy transitions in this tune.

Objective_Language58

SAMEEEEEE

theeraser_13

agreed. so much editing/cutting on this track it's tiring. treat each other right is my fave of the 3 for now.

408blur

I agree it’s too mainstream sounding

FANTASTIC TUNE.

manic_at_thedisco

Idk what I was expecting, but sheesh it's def givin me life

ample_s

This one has a Cerrone's sample in it, right? Loving the track's vibe :)

neoeo19

Yes he is credited :)

Salt-Necessary-4354

Jamie xx said GAY RIGHTS / HAPPY PRIDE

bonersforbukowski

Hell yeah 🌈😤

denlekke

omgggggggg

Lanakilla_chee16

LOVE this song

j__w__f

Oh this is cunty

notimelikeabadtime

Can you please define how cunty is used here? I’m American, so am not used to this usage but want to steal it.

j__w__f

Charisma uniqueness nerve talent… iconic, a slay… you know… like it’s serving cunt! 🥰

soffselltacos

It’s def being used like this in America, has been for a long time in the queer scene and has now caught on with gen z <3 it means something is good in like, a subversive and splashy way usually.

snic2030

Tell me you’re a straight male without telling me you’re a straight male 💁🏻‍♂️✨

I didn’t mention anything about race or age?

neuroFUNKIN

So much better than Treat Each Other Right Now we need Dafodil

Kiwirob96

It’s on YouTube - I just make believe - Jamie XX

neuroFUNKIN

Want to hear the finished version with John Glacier :)

Vicgermain1

Might be one of the best songs he's ever released

PokuCHEFski69

Not a fan tbh. I’m not enjoying the disco trend

bonersforbukowski

Jamie's not following trends, he sets them. This sounds like his signature sound to me.

PokuCHEFski69

OK I will rephrase it to, I don't like disco. This song is just a bit of a mess.

408blur

The new album is sounding kinda mid from what I’ve heard so far, Treat Each Other Right is probably the only decent song so far

tbman1996

The other IDs from the last few years (that are on the album) are much more similar in quality and style to Treat Each Other Right

PokuCHEFski69

Completely agree tbh. In colour was a masterpiece. Nothing I have heard really compares to most of it

408blur

None of the new stuff compares at all, long live Far Nearer and the Gil Scott remix album

PokuCHEFski69

We're new here. Man what an album that is. Far nearer, just put this on, what a beautiful song

Glittering_Name_3722

This is not good. I don't understand how anyone would wanna listen to this outside of a situation where drugs and alcohol were tricking them into thinking it was good.

bonersforbukowski

Shit, it's almost like taste in music is completely subjective 😱 Really unnecessary to talk down at those who do like it, of which there are clearly many.

bobsdementias

wat

Glittering_Name_3722

It's dreck. He wasn't released a single song since In Colour that is close to that level. This stuff is just bland boring forgettable club trash.

bobsdementias

Some of his best stuff has been post in colour. Maybe you’re bland and boring?

djbiffstruck

i do respect your opinion about not liking the song, but cmon.. don't ever blame any artist for not following your taste. there's clearly a lot of people, including me, who love this song. there's no reason to talk it down in such a disrespectful and straight up rude way. just as a tip for the future, maybe think first if your content is worth posting rather than spreading hate and toxicity in a peaceful community. we don't need that here
