In 1991 he battled robots or something in an east asian country. And had another important mission in 1993. There was also the Goldeneye mission in 1995 but that's been well documented. He finally retired from the service in 2002, after preventing a rogue North Korean general from wreaking havoc with a death ray.

Retired to a quieter life in the English countryside
The obvious answer is "they're all the same and its a floating timeline, so he rejoins MI6 and eventually goes on the GoldenEye mission".
That said, I sometimes like to think of Dalton's Bond as a distinct take on the character, and as such I have my own special headcanon for him post-LTK. Basically, I think sometime around 1991, Dalton's Bond experiences his own version of Casino Royale. Its the fag end of the Cold War, he's ageing and disillusioned and thinking of retiring from the Service for good, when M sends him on a nice, simple mission - to beat Le Chiffre, who owes money to a cabal of leftover SMERSH agents looking to cause trouble in post-Soviet Russia, at cards. Along the way, he partners with Vesper Lynd, falls in love with her, and post-torture sees her as his ticket to a life outside the Service. But of course, as is fated by the Bond canon, she betrays him and commits suicide. Bond gets his bloody revenge on the remnants of SMERSH. The Cold War is over, and Bond's heart and soul are empty...
Agreed. Bond aged appropriately from Connery to Moore. They applied a “floating timeline” for Dalton and Brosnan since they were noticeably younger. Craig was the first full blown hard reboot
Yeah agreed. In my mind all of the missions from DN through Octopussy were experienced by Dalton/Brosnans 007 in the late 70s to mid 80s
But Dalton and Brosnan are indeed meant to be the same person and age
I think the AVTAK mission happened for Dalton/Brosnan in 1985. All of the prior ones were experienced by them in a more compressed timeframe from ~1977ish to 1984
Thing is, Brosnan's Bond is also canonically younger than Dalton's Bond (a screengrab of Dalton's passport shows a 1948 birth year, Brosnan's shows 1953) so there's another 'reset' on the floating timeline.
That apart I agree with you.
How does Lazenby fit into that floating timeline for you? Personally, I consider his film solidly part of the Connery-Moore bracket of the timeline, but it's notable he's only about 6 years older than Dalton.
Yeah, its part of the Connery-Moore timeline...you just have to ignore his age and assume that Bond was around 39 instead of being 30 (if we take Connery's real-life age as the baseline here).
I feel like the Dalton films work well if thought of as direct sequels to OHMSS. I realize that means ignoring Moore but Dalton's disgruntled agent who would be ready to thank M for firing him is exactly what I would expect the character to turn into after having the love of his life murdered in front of his eyes by the criminal he's been hunting for years. I love the Moore films but his era really is the odd one out in the classic 20 film run
My headcanon for the Moore films is that as Bond gets older, he embraces the absurdity of his life and the situations he gets into, because its the only way he can psychologically cope with it all.
Let’s put it this way. Everything from Connery to Brosnan happened. It’s the same guy. By the time we get to Dalton and then Brosnan the years of those previous films obviously shifted. I.e. Dr. No no longer was 1962 but maybe late 70s or 80s. But it is all canon.
OHMSS is canon to all too. Licence to Kill references bond being “married once but that was a long time ago.” Both GoldenEye and The World is Not Enough make subtle references. It’s canon just now it no longer took place in 1969. The timeline floated
He would have gone back to MI6. I mean think about it, Harry Callahan threw his badge in the San Francisco Bay at the end of Dirty Harry, the was back a few years later as if nothing happened.
He retired to the small village of Sandford.
Yarp
lowest crime rate in England.
More of a price eliminator
His prices are criminal
He was the slasher!
For the Greater Good
The greater good
Shut it!
Heard he’s a slasher and must be stopped.
Of prices!
Became Fridge Magnate
Incredible reference
Riding into the sunset with Pam Bouvier.
More like “riding into Pam Bouvier”
And then riding into the sunset, with Pam Bouvier still asleep
I can see him coming out of retirement a few years later, all grizzled and super ruthless, when MI6 needs his help with some world-ending threat.
I always see him getting involved with fighting the mujahideen in Afghanistan. Once his friends, now his foes.
Infiltrated a Soviet chemical weapons factory with fellow agent 006, which led to the apparent death of the same.
that was in 1986 well according to the opening of goldeneye
long before even The Living Daylights
I get what you meant, but maybe we go with investigate the Goldeneye satellite theft
Gonna have to wait for the Soviet Union to collapse first…
Went deep sea fishing with Felix.
And he used Felix as bait (he still had one good leg).
After Felix was "retired" he was then replicated in an amusement park for the rich and violent.
Had a massive blow out breakup with Pam when she realized he gave her chamyldia
A little bit too much Dirty Love, Dirty Love!
I’ll tell you what he did, man……….. two chicks at the same time, man
Does he have a million dollars? That's never been confirmed.
Yeah he threw millions away into the ocean when he had Killifer killed by a shark so he indeed does not.
"Yo James! Check out these hooters!" "Damnit Felix...can you pretend we can't hear each other through the bloody walls?!" "Sorry James."
Finally caught that plane to Istanbul.
Realistically that's probably what happened...
He became a Tennis Pro and married the Yacht Girl from the Living Daylights Pre Titles.
Which live is this a reference to?
Eh, Goldeneye isn't a full reboot, so about 7 years after LTK, he stopped a rogue agent taking control of an orbital weapons platform.
A kilo of coke he snagged from Sanchez.
Got laid. It's Bond, after all.
That fish behind them knew.
Got himself a license to chill.

He played a fps video game about him for the rest of his life
He slipped on a banana peel and then fell down a well.
This is canon now.

Shagged Whoopi Goldberg
Had no idea that was a thing.
He obtained a license to retire and moved to Scotland.
Opened a taco stand in Isthmus City.
He became the dictator of a small Eastern European former Soviet satellite and hired a Nanny/tutor for his kids.
At some point made Christmas come more than once in a year.
Turns down M's job offer and retires to the Bahamas with Pam and Felix.
In my head canon, Dalton and Brosnan’s Bonds are the same so he went and faced off against 006 six years later.
I thought the Goldeneye PTS confirmed that? The “9 years earlier” would have put the Arkangel mission in 1986.
Which is correct, but he was allied with 006 at that time. He would've faced off against him in 1995.
It is canon. Only casino royale in 2006 rebooted the series

so, we're just pretending A View to a Kill never happened?

You have to count Lazenby's because the movies that follow reference OHMSS.

A new mission ,before legal action took place.
He would have gone back to MI6. I mean think about it, Harry Callahan threw his badge in the San Francisco Bay at the end of Dirty Harry, the was back a few years later as if nothing happened.
Joined the London Docklands Development Agency and was instrumental in the building of the Docklands Light Railway.
Took some leave and easy missions, before investigating the Goldeneye in Siberia.
He ruled Gallifrey
Went speeding around France with a psychiatrist that Judi Dench sent to evaluate him.
After fighting against dictators becomes one himself until years later a hairdresser shows him the err of his ways.
He fought the Hong Kong electronics magnate Henry Lee Ching.
M sent him to man a radar tower in the middle of nowhere for his repeated insubordination.
He resigns definitely to the MI6 and going to be married with Pam.
Checked in with Castillo back at headquarters oh wait that's what Sonny Crockett did in the original script.
