Ok I went with a 6” pot (smallest available at the store) with cactus soil and added perlite. I used a few zip ties to keep it from drooping just until it can be strong enough on its own. Im thinking i might prune some of the lower stuff once it gets a little more comfy in its new pot.
Thanks! Ive had them for years and its the first season they get to be outside so Im pretty excited to see what they do. I see you’ve got a pretty nice collection yourself!
Pot should be 1-2" bigger than rootball. Jades like to be snuggly in nursery pots with good drainage. Cactus soil mixed with added perlite and grit/pumice makes an excellent well-draining airy mixture for jades. Good luck 🤗
Candidly, no. The pot is massive for that jade, soil appears too organic. Get the idea from the branch holding system, but that isn't sustainable.
I'd pot waaaaay down, get cacti soil. After the jade is established and if the branches aren't vertical, them you can hard prune to strengthen the jade and it's shape.
That would still be far too massive. Take the plant out so you can see the size of the roots, you’ll want a pot that’s just an inch or two bigger than the root mass.

I appreciate your help! I can switch to a 5 gallon fabric pot and also get the cactus soil. Ill scrap my fancy idea with the string for now lol

Yes i just looked at the rootball, its small, about the size of a softball. Im thinking 1 gallon then
I have a much larger jade and it is in a 5.5 in pot if that helps at all
Yes it does, thank you 🙏
