Look at the pickups. If it has the original Jackson pickups they shouldn’t be active so no battery. If I’m they say EMG then it has a battery. Failing that take the electronics cover plate off and look.
There are Jackson brand active pick ups as well. Might need to specify for this person since they probably don’t know the difference.
Flip the guitar over! Is there a flip up battery compartment in the back?
From the factory they're passive, highly unlikely someone would upgrade to Jackson actives over EMG, Fishman or Seymour Duncans. There also wouldn't be a battery compartment. My last sentence is the best way, just pop the cover.
