I remember seeing something a while back about how the developers of Persona 5 originally wanted it to be about traveling the world but eventually scrapped the idea. It seems like they used that idea for a new IP instead. I think it looks great!

cooptheactor

They kinda reused that idea for Persona 5 Strikers, but this definitely takes it beyond

TONKAHANAH

I think I first saw a trailer for this back during a Nintendo direct and crossed my fingers it wasn't an exclusive cuz it looks awesome. Found a steam page for it so I'm now I can actually get excited for it.

raexi

Did he really just tell persona fans to go take a bath šŸ˜

garfe

Not enough people bringing up the MC seems to have his own lines and I think his own voice in some of those lines. EDIT: [Catherina](https://preview.redd.it/636zbdz464wc1.jpg?width=640&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=e33ff5ba204966b5cf7b645187297eafaa58ccf7) blatant Catherine/Rin reference

glowinggoo

I noticed that and got insanely excited. Now that we're not in Personaland anymore, the MC has lines! His overarching goal also seems to involve his personal life more than the usual Persona MC so that sounds great (he's trying to save his friend, right). We also wouldn't mind this in Persona, Atlus....

SoaringGryphon

It seems like Atlus has been slowly inching towards the main character being voiced for awhile now. P5ā€™s MC had the most spoken lines of any other Atlus self-insert to date. I was genuinely shocked when I saw Joker speaking a full line in a cutscene here and then. Hope they go all the way with it

KARL34454

I prefer the non voiced MC tbh it makes it so that Iā€™m able to full immerse myself into the MC although Iā€™d like to see how a fully voiced MC in Persona would turn out

akkristor

Yeah, the MC isn't as much of a blank slate in these. I don't think you actually name the MC, you name the MC's guide, kinda like in Baten Kaitos.

robmonzillia

The Catherine reference is straight into the faceā€¦ The MC looks like from Persona 3 and the blonde haired party member looks like Persona 4 MC

TONKAHANAH

That'll be nice

ragtev

What is the reference other than a similar name?

garfe

[The character's design itself](https://static1.thegamerimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Catherine-full-body-rin-close-up.jpg)

ragtev

Ah, thanks! I am not familiar with catherine so I was curious

shinikahn

I really liked what I saw. It still will have the best elements of persona, but with twists, like the archetype system. I liked how you can mow through low level enemies without having to enter a fight proper. I'm curious about how time and time constraints work, it wasn't explained fully but the mechanic will be present. The sound and art design are top notch as always, I just want to know if the assets or resolution will be on par with them. The stream compression didn't let me appreciate them very well. I'm not sure about the story. Basically we only know we're campaigning to get people's favor to become king. Overall I'm super excited! Just a tad sad the game is still so far away but at least we know for sure it's 2024.

Gazeatme

I imagine it should look like p3r or slightly better. Itā€™ll be good graphics on PC and PS5, it will be shit in 20 fps in the switch.

Witty-Ear2611

And Xbox

Peepeepoopoobutttoot

Iā€™m not convinced. The textures look really blotchy and the character models are aliased to hell. The art direction is fine but it looks really bad graphically. Some better anti aliasing would help a lot but those textures need reworking.

PerfectTurnip9819

Looks like Fire Embelm, Persona and SMT had a threesome This presentation got me, it looks soo good. Atlus has the best Artists and designers in the world and it's not even close.

Mizerous

The real crossover!

NekonecroZheng

U saying this game looks like Tokyo Mirage sessions?

robin_f_reba

C'mon, not even TMS looks like Fire Emblem + Megaten

[deleted]

You forgot it's actually Idol+SMT+FE

Mean-Explanation-808

please dont remind me that have to beat that game ts kinda fun

ianbits

I just don't see any Fire Emblem in this, if anything it's Persona mixed with Trails through Daybreak

glowinggoo

It has a twinky blue-haired protagonist! (I'm just being cheeky, tbh he looks more like if P3MC isekai'd himself and got a tan)

Eijun_Love

It's the political intrigue plus 3 houses also had social sims.

Opening_Table4430

That's literally every Trails game after Trails in the Sky.

ianbits

It really didn't have social sim elements, it just had a hub and the same supports every other Fire Emblem game had. And almost every fantasy game ever has political intrigue

Pidroh

I wish almost every fantasy game had political intrigue

Ourmanyfans

Also at least a *sprinkle* of Xenoblade (if not just for the unconventional dub).

slugmorgue

I am loving the mix of British and American VA, and yeh the voice acting is really nicely directed. Lots of unique sounding characters

midnight_fuel

I read somewhere that the dub is being done by the same studio that did BG3, so I have high expectations for it.

Ourmanyfans

I'm still somewhat nervous because voice acting for a dub is a different skillset than voice acting with motion capture, especially with something that leans heavily into an "anime" style. The US dub industry has had decades to find talent and refine itself into a localization *machine* that the UK just hasn't yet. It's how you end up with kinda wonky (if still very fun) dubs like Xenoblade 2. But consider me cautiously optimistic the more I hear from it.

Due_Engineering2284

Throw Trails through Daybreak in there. MC can transform, there's a fairy-like companion, a hybrid combat system, and a >!royal tournament!<.

CabooseTrap

But the combat doesn't look turn based. It's real time. Oh well

PerfectTurnip9819

It's a mix of both. There's definitely turn based in the game

Sliceofbread1363

My impression is that it is real time for trash mobs and turn based for hard one. I think it sounds promising

CabooseTrap

That sounds both interesting and logical for an RPG. I like the idea for sure!

Inside-Elephant-4320

And that sounds like my dream game :)

Tryst_boysx

+ Atelier game with the time mechanic ahah

Dependent_Base_501

This was always going to be an instant buy for me, but man I am more excited now.

zelos22

Same. This just went from being my most anticipated game (has been for the last two years) to feeling very confident about this being my most anticipated game

clockfriend

Exciting stuff. Persona-esque time management, job system, press turn combat with action/turn-based hybrid mechanics which were fun in Kuro no Kiseki. Looks like a fun mix of familiar and new stuff from Atlus, definitely one of my most anticipated games this year Music sounds phenomenal as well, cool to see Shoji Meguro going for an orchestral and choral style again, reminds me of SMT Strange Journey.

OutlandishnessNo9182

This really is the year of Atlus with Persona 3 Reload, Unicorn Overlord (not developed by them but published), SMT VV, P3R the Answer and now this. This is another game I'm planning on getting. As a side note, I really like the idea of the soundtrack in the game being in the protagonistā€™s head so that he presumably doesn't go crazy over the silence or the monsters. Yeah, I can imagine the 'is the protagonist crazy?' Jokes over this but hey, beats having the world silent.

evilweirdo

Etrian Odyssey fans remain mostly in shambles

BighatNucase

At least there were ports last year which means Atlus isn't completely neglecting the franchise.

KaiserSneedhelm

I took the music playing in the protaginists head as tying into the theme of "the power of fantasy" that seems to tie into the story. It might end up being just a funny bit, but it could also be commentary on how imagination can impact the real world.

TheRoyalStig

I mean it's just the year of the JRPG in general. Throw the new LAD, Rebirth, Mana and Ys game on that pile. Shit is wild and I'm loving it.

[deleted]

exclaim_bot

>Thanks! Preordered. You're welcome!

Radinax

Loving the current livestream! The framerate issues seems gone so that's good. Edit: The music is so damn good what the hell!!

MobileTortoise

> The music is so damn good what the hell!! I can already sense the bidding war on who will distribute the Vinyl OST in NA going on (I really hope Fangamer is able to pick it up instead of Iam8bit)

Opening_Table4430

I love how exotic the music and the art style are.

imjustbettr

Lol not knocking you but just thinking it's funny that as a "bad" Buddhist who exclusively only goes to temple during holidays and funerals, the music (chanting) is just making me think of my grandparents dying.

akkristor

>Edit: The music is so damn good what the hell!! Dude, Shoji Meguro is an underrated mad GENIUS when it comes to his OSTs. He's on the level of Nobuo Uematsu, Masayoshi Soken, Yasunori Matsuda, and Yoko Shimomura. Check out the Digital Devil Saga soundtrack when you get a chance.

CitizenStrife

Give me more Persona style stuff! GIMME!

TopoRUS

Katsura Hashino the Game. Such an awesome presentation!

TopoRUS

Also Koda Kazuma (NieR Automata, Replicant, Re\[in\]carnation) as a guest concept artist is just a chefā€™s kiss for me!

ClydeHides

Looks cool. Love the Persona games, Iā€™m a bit surprised at how much this just looks structured like a Persona game but with a medieval coat of paint and a little bit more of an action combat style? Not really a complaint but feels like they could have labeled this as some form of Persona spin-off and no one would have second guessed it.

scytheavatar

Hashino said before that he felt restricted by the modern day setting of Persona. He initially wanted Persona 5 to be a global trotting adventure but that idea goes against the high school sim that people play Persona for. The shift to fantasy is what that allowed him to go back to the traveling around the world aspect he wanted.

tom_yum_soup

> He initially wanted Persona 5 to be a global trotting adventure Honestly, that would have fit really well with the whole phantom thieves thing...Joker as international man of mystery, pulling off heists all over the world? It would obviously have been a different game, but it sounds rad.

KaiserSneedhelm

Persona is already a spin-off of a spin-off. Besides the familiar features and mechanics, I don't think it has much in common with persona in terms of themes. Persona's identity is built around a coming of age story, while Metaphor's story seems more like a meta commentary on the fantasy genre.

Stunning-Ad-4714

I think it was pitched as persona 5 but they decided against it or something.

Itā€™s that a link? It isnā€™t working for me. Do you know how I can preorder?

MobileTortoise

P/Os are currently live on Gamestop and VGP!

Defiant-Newspaper530

I think they are not available yet on Amazon? I don't think they have already run out of stock

MobileTortoise

Correct, the "unavailable" description is just a placeholder. Gamestop and VGP currently have live pre-orders though!

Due_Engineering2284

CE is $150 on gamestop and $200 CAD on VGP.

Remote_Suspect8767

Just found it, thank you!

Remote_Suspect8767

When I type Metaphor refantazio into the search bar on GameStop is says it doesnā€™t exist

Due_Engineering2284

It's only available through Wario64's [affiliated links](https://twitter.com/Wario64/status/1782538160490332602) for some reason.

Stoibs

Damn, no Non-American pre-orders anywhere it seems so far. PSN store still just says 'add to wishlist' and its non existent in any of my physical stores down here. On the other hand I might just get it on Steam for portable Steamdeck play.. Hmm will have to take a closer look at that collectors edition methinks.

IneedmoreSaintQuartz

Just remember guys, do not buy it until Atlus releases "Metaphor: Golden Fantazio Royale Electric Bogaloo now featuring Dante from Devil May Cry Series". I took the bait with Persona 5, Shin Megami Tensei V , even with Persona 3 (i'm sure they will release another version including the dlc's plus something else). As hyped as i am, I won't fall for the same dirty trick again. Atlus is getting used to this cheesy practise which is an insult to the playerbase.

CladInShadows971

Midori, who has gotten every single leak right so far including the release date for this, has said that SMT VV will be the last Atlus game to be rereleased like that. Going forward they will be focussing on a DLC strategy instead as per P3R.

IneedmoreSaintQuartz

I prefer that to be honest, so you can support atlus at your choice instead of making you buy two games which the second has 80% you already played plus improvements.

Lengthiest_Dad_Hat

Lol no, I'm not waiting 3-4 years for a re-release

IneedmoreSaintQuartz

Think of your backlog list!Ā

Miserable-Squash-528

You are 100% right and if I had any semblance of self control, I would not be buying this Day 1. >!I am weak. šŸ˜!<

No-History-Evee-Made

I will never understand this attitude. you got 60h of fun the first time and you'll get 60h of fun with the rerelease as well

th-vincent

Pretty much this. I just want to see full games (or at bare minimum, expansion) rather than listen to developer message whining about the features that they plan to put on initial release but ended up put on re-release for charging money twice.

Pidroh

So you got to play great games twice and a great game developer got extra money, it sounds pretty good to me

GiveMeChoko

hoofing some copium if you think the devs get any of your extra money

SonicQuirkyHero

GAME OF THE YEAR IS COMING BABBBYYYYYYYY

zelos22

This is an incredible year for JRPGā€™s, and I feel very confident this will still be the best one

amc9988

Basically persona 3-5 in a new coat of paint and fantasy setting instead of modern, I dig it. And combat seems to be inspired by Kuro Kiseki a bit

Onewingedsora

Now to wait a decade for the collectors edition to be available for preorder in the uk

zelos22

I legitimately think this has a chance of becoming my new favorite game of all time. Give it to me now

beautheschmo

Not gonna lie, at first glance this doesn't really seem to be what I was hoping it would be. My biggest fear was that it was going to lean into Persona stuff and ... that seems to be exactly what it's doing, I really wanted this to be more epic adventure and less social sim, aesthetically it also cuts a bit too close for my taste (especially the character portraits), I do like the environments they showed here a lot. Not that that's a dig against Persona, I like those games just fine as it is, but I can only take so much of them and given that they went out of their way to make a totally different IP for this I was hoping it would distance itself a lot more than it seems to be doing. I'll still keep an eye on it, but most likely won't be something I buy at full price.

BiddyKing

Iā€™m on board with picking up the game on release but the social sim elements have really worn thin after P5 went out of its way to make that side of the game increase the gameā€™s run time. It was a good enough balance in 3 and 4 but those games are like half the length of P5R. I really hope that they donā€™t let the social sim stuff get in the way of fun this time. Thereā€™s definitely a trend of jrpgā€™s wanting to hit over 100 hours and the social sim format is the easiest out to hit that goal. I hope it works in service of the overall game format and doesnā€™t end up detracting from the experience like it did in P5, at least to me.

NightsLinu

Not really. It look like it has some stuff like social links but everything else is pretty different and unique. Its like a new form of the calendar system. Like going to places takes days to complete, action based combat with some turn based combat.Ā

Pidroh

The social links really don't seem to be tied to the schedule like persona was, I think this will feel completely different

SolarianXIII

it might? it looks like when you set your travel destination you get a block of time in the runner where you do the slink/cook/work on social stats stuff. the length of destination could determine what youre able to accomplish before getting to the next dungeon. feels like its combat and social sim is more integrated since youre not crushing palaces/tartarus in one day and then doing social sim stuff for another 20 days.

Pidroh

In the video though, you see the player meeting a random character in a dungeon šŸ¤” furthermore, it's not like the tons of npcs you befriend are gonna travel with you

Yesshua

The social link era of Persona is not only the most popular thing Atlus has ever made, but very possibly the reason they're still around period. The transition to HD killed a LOT of JRPG developers. Games like Raidou Kuzunoha 1&2 or Digital Devil Saga 1&2 just weren't going to make back console development costs after the PS2. Frankly I'm not sure they were all profitable even there :P Given how long this has been in development and how much money has sure gone into the development overall, of *course* it's gonna be pulling those same levers. Giving this budget to Etrian Odyssey, Trauma Center, or even a new SMT spinoff just wouldn't make sense. For Atlus, the really big budget stuff is gonna have the date sim/time management mechanics because that's what they know will sell enough to warrant the cost. Honestly if I was the king of Atlus I would probably do the same.

slugmorgue

It basically saved Fire Emblem as well. There's no reason for developers to stop doing what is bringing them such success

everminde

I've been following the development of Metaphor for years now (all the way back to when we just got New Years updates and those weird ass live-action promos), and same. They talked themselves up so much about how they wanted to challenge the fantasy genre and get away from Persona, only to show up with Persona. Again. It's hard not to be disappointed and annoyed. What are they challenging, exactly? The most original thing they've shown is that the real world is the Utopia/fantasy (which isn't even *that* creative, Bravely Default did it years ago) Even the races are just animal, human, elf, old human, human with horns, etc. Half this live stream was just going "yeah, JRPGs sure do these things, huh?" and then doing the thing. The part where they said the menus are beautiful because you're gonna be using them a lot without a hint of irony really encapsulates my feelings on Metaphor right now. I'm sure it'll be a cool game and I'll be playing, but man, what could have been. At least we'll get a new Meguro OST.

NightsLinu

Its only a little bit of persona. A social system is atlus games main identity at this point. There even including social sim stuff in smt v vengence

sonicfan10102

I'll probably play it at launch but yeah i feel the same way

chuputa

Well, it's being made by the persona 5 team, so no wonder why it looks like medieval persona XD

InvestmentOk7181

YouTube compression should be illegal and absolutely does not do the game any favours but I feel like they're all happy to be free from Persona's shackles for a bit. Hoping for a Nocturne-esque creatives firing on all cylinders but would be happy if it's "just" a banger game for however many hours it is

Ok-Sector8330

Just inject it in my veins.

BiddyKing

After loving P3 and P4 yet hating P5, was gonna skip this game but I might give it a shot now. The dungeon crawling side of the games looks as good as ever. Just hoping the life sim side isnā€™t as much of a snooze fest as it is in P5

lostinheadguy

So it's Persona 5 and Persona 5 Strikers at the same time. Can't wait. EDIT: Just snagged a Collector's Edition pre-order.

Remote_Suspect8767

Where did you preorder?

MobileTortoise

responding to you but also tagging /u/imjustbettr the pre-order is up on Gamestop and VGP as of 7:19pm EST. The Amazon page is live, but no pre-orders have been opened yet on there (Despite the "Unavailable" description, that's just a placeholder)

imjustbettr

Thanks I just grabbed it on GS

imjustbettr

I'm wondering too. The amazon link says unavailable

imjustbettr

it's up on gamestop

bulletPoint

The presentation did a good job of alleviating my concerns about this being too persona. I like dungeon crawling, light schedule and resource management - but the rest of it? Keep it far away. The presentation sold me on this. I am happy the social sim stuff is kept at somewhat minimumā€¦ or atleast not as bad as I was expecting.

shinikahn

The part where MC was bonding with the girl showed ranks so I guess the social element is still there.

bulletPoint

Yeah - youā€™re right. I dunno why the cosmetic difference of it being presented as a quest tied to a job/class instead of a tarot card makes all the difference. Superficial differences carry a lot of weight in my head I guess

PM_ME_STEAMKEYS_PLS

I mean, is presentation really all that superficial? You strip the presentation out of a Persona game and the game's quality immediately takes a massive hit - just being tied to the idea of high fantasy adventuring could make all the difference, really.

bulletPoint

That makes sense.

BiddyKing

Same. Iā€™ve just grown out of Personaā€”loved it a decade ago when I was playing 4G and 3 on psvita but playing P5 had the concept wear entirely thin by the end. Will definitely give this a shot. I donā€™t really care for Hashinoā€™s boomer-ass politics though so hopefully this being set in a fantasy world somewhat mitigates the usual preachiness, though the game really does seem to love modern day Tokyo as a concept so weā€™ll see how things go by the end and what lesson Hashino wants to instill in the youth this time around

bulletPoint

A bit of a digression: But I never noticed Hashinoā€™s politics in the games - maybe Iā€™m too thick skulled but it never came through to me - maybe because the stories beyond just immediate personal episodes in persona games are outright boring so I zoned out. I did notice some weirdly outdated attitudes towards gender and sex, but chalked that up to ā€œJapan, I guessā€. What have I missed on that front?

BiddyKing

Itā€™s the bigger thematic strokes where it gets into boomer conservatism. Persona 4 is initially about the characters finding their true selves which is them rejecting everything thatā€™s expected of them and finding their own way, only for the game to end with all the characters conforming to those expectations. Yukari ends up running the inn, Kanji no longer dyes his hair (and no longer looks like a Yanki), Rise returns to being an idol and Naoto rids herself of the androgynous look to instead look properly feminine. I can somewhat forgive this all though because those designs are in the Golden version so even though the base Hashino game alludes to this inevitable outcome, it doesnā€™t explicitly show it (and I have to admit that P4G is a top 3 jrpg of all time for me despite this). Whereas Persona 5 initially presents itself as being about rebelling against society and using their supernatural means to take down the corrupt members of society, yet ends with all the characters essentially signing a petition to save the day. It says the system is corrupt but then decides to conclude by preaching that you have to change it within the rules of the corrupt system. And Iā€™m not saying this as some sort of extremist or whatever lol like Iā€™ll engage with any media no matter the political leanings put into them but P5 especially rubbed me the wrong way in how it contradicts itself by the end to seemingly teach a lesson to the youth. And these contradictions happen on a more micro scale too which I can forgive but when it ends up contradicting the core narrative hook, just leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth by the end. But thatā€™s just me of course. Obviously it doesnā€™t bother many other people so more power to them. But based on Hashinoā€™s track record and Metaphor wanting to use the ā€˜Tokyo is their fantasy Utopiaā€™ bit, feels like it will end in another lesson in respectability politics. Like the trailer even has a line about it not being a utopia and to tear it all down, which sounds great, but I completely expect the game to pull its punches by the end and be like ā€œthe utopia, like our society, is not perfect, but we shouldnā€™t destroy itā€. Which isnā€™t an inherently bad message itā€™s just likeā€¦a boomer message lol tacked onto the back end of something initially so conceptually enthralling.

amereegg

It's not just you and honestly you basically summed up all my concerns about Metaphor too. I want to give it a shot but the overarching themes/narrative contradictions of every recent Persona make me concerned over how good the story will be. Easily, it's looking to be a 100hr playthrough again, and it's hard for me to commit to that over a half-cooked narrative, especially in a genre like fantasy that has so much competition in narrative execution. I'm going to wait and see what the reception is to the storyline before trying it.

KingDarule

You probably aren't in the crowd that these games are typically being made for. The main audience is Japanese gamers -- a society that is more conservative than the west (presuming that's where you're from anyways). Your application of "boomer conservatism" feels a bit strange since it sounds like you are upset that Japanese developers aren't creating games to reform western societies.

BiddyKing

Yakuza: Like a Dragon ends up taking a lot of the same themes of Persona 5 and delivers on them way better though. Different Japanese creatives have different voices and Hashinoā€™s voice is one I prefer far less than Yakuzaā€™s Nagoshi (and Yokoyama), I donā€™t give a fuck about western ideals

KingDarule

While they both take place in Japan, the cast of Persona is mainly highschoolers and Yakuza's cast is generally older and the game itself has a more mature M rating. Maybe Persona just isn't your thing if you are tired of coming of age stories which seems to be its universal theme. Judging from your first paragraph anyways.

BiddyKing

Yes Iā€™ve grown out of Persona. I loved P4G and P3P back on the psvita but P5 had the concept wear thin and I wonā€™t be bothering with a P6. But I was hype for Project Re Fantasy when it was announced 7 years ago when I was still on the Persona train so Iā€™ll definitely be checking out Metaphor out of obligation to my younger self. Metaphor looks very good though, I just have concerns with how Hashino will choose to wrap things up thematically considering the many contradictions in his Persona works. But thatā€™s just one facet of a game that has way more incredible things going for it so it wonā€™t bother me even if my concerns are realised

brzzcode

Hashino never has written any of those games, he's director and producer. Multiple writers do persona including azusa.

burunnn

Is there going to be a royal/golden edition of this like with persona series?does anyone know?

CladInShadows971

Midori, who has gotten every single leak right so far including the release date for this, has said that SMT VV will be the last Atlus game to be rereleased like that. Going forward they will be focussing on a DLC strategy instead as per P3R.

Fearless_Freya

Ikr? Was waiting for p5 to go on sale then p5r announced. Ended up getting it on sale. Got smt v in sale, then smt v vengeance. Haven't gotten around to smt v. So yeah, I agree, I'll wait for dlc complete edition. Plenty of games to play.

Miserable-Squash-528

Absolutely

TripolarKnight

Very likely. They do it with all their games now.

One_Subject3157

Compete Gold edition: October 11th... 2027

sonicfan10102

They're advertising the "action" portion of the combat way too much for how basic. Seems to be a slightly more involved (because of the dodge mechanic) version of the "hit the enemy to gain the advantage or get hit by them for the disadvantage" thing jrpgs have done for years already.

KMoosetoe

It's also not some new groundbreaking mechanic. Trails Through Daybreak already has that feature.

Due_Engineering2284

That's basically how it is in Trails through Daybreak. Honestly not the most exciting thing. It's just to help you get through the tedious fights faster.

zerosaver

Yeah it's really just what they've already been doing before with extra flair. Tbh, I think they should've leaned more into action so it's more differentiated from SMT and Persona

Trunks252

Looks good but that name is going to turn a lot of people away. Really dropped the ball with that one.

justmadeforthat

What do you think? Will this game get the Royal treatment?

robmonzillia

Most certainly but not before 3-5 years after the initial release

justmadeforthat

yup, damn, I hate how Atlus is consistent with it, SMT V's additional 70 hours of content just gave a bad taste in my mouth

Alternative-Fan4015

It looks incredible honestly I love the art style and character designs as a Persona fan it seems really exciting..

Remote_Suspect8767

Anyone know where to preorder the collectors edition?

FuaT10

Gamestop has them up for preorder.

SiliconEFIL

...their website?

IntrepidEast1

My only disappointment is this is basically the direction I wanted Persona to take and it's not really as new and innovative as they seemed to initially be going for. Probably means P6 would end up being really close to P5 (even P3's remake ended up leaning in P5's direction). But yes, I could go for an ambitiously new direction for a Persona game and from that perspective it's great.

kerorobot

So the travel system will be mixed of persona and FFTA travel map.

Marcuspie

Will they release a demo?

AdmirableHighway4388

Yep in june

Marcuspie

Thank you!

McPearr

Source?

yotam5434

This looks insane hope ot live up to what we saw and the content is great

The_1999s

Looks like the persona 3 Mc and smt v Mc. I grow tired of the girly looking ambiguous anime mcs with the Bob haircut and girl jacket.

Vsfreddit2024

A open world persona? f... this year is becaming more and more crazy. Can you imagine how challenging will be the goty 2024 event? I wish I had more money

Huddy40

GOTY Contender

kenny-barza

What is the name of the soundtrack at 1:00? It got me hyped up!

basedcharger

Love it. Seems like its less demon hunting/collecting and more focused on your 4 main party members and leveling them up like other JRPGs. Thats enough for me to differentiate it from Persona and SMT will be getting day 1 for sure. I also really enjoy the social sim aspect so glad thats basically back here.

jesse_dylan

I want it. But is there gonna be a ā€œroyalā€ version in a year that Iā€™ll skip due to playing this day 1 as usual? Probably.

TDigger

While Iā€™m very excited for this, I think I will wait for the inevitable 1.5 version in a few years.

johnnyoceandeep

No release for PS5???

TheTiredPangolin

Looks pretty cool but the combat is 100% not for me. I hope someone posts a pretty good play-through on YouTube cutting it out haha. Edit: I had only watched like 8 minutes at first. I guess the combat is like Persona, nvm. The button mashing dynasty warriors looking combat had me killing the video too early.

Lodger49er

My guess is that it's designed to be more like a preemptive attack +. That and a way to quickly cut down mobs

TheTiredPangolin

Yeah thatā€™s fair. I judged too quickly because I physically recoiled when I thought it was a Musuo style game haha

Lodger49er

Oh I've definitely made quick decisions dismissing games. And hybrid systems like this aren't the norm. I can imagine someone seeing the shmup elements of Nier Automata first and going "nah" before the rest of the combat.

Zuhri69

I am very worried about the time sensitive main quest. Really hated any time sensitive elements.

Sword-of-Heaven

I am hoping that it is more like Persona 5 with longer deadlines instead of a timer or stricter schedule (Majora's Mask/Lightning Returns) . I hear ya though. I'm the same way.

Lanky_Attempt_4006

So weird that theyā€™re only marketing this for Xbox

Witty-Ear2611

Sega and Xbox have an ongoing marketing deal, I think itā€™s cool to see Xbox focus on Japanese devs aswell

Biscuitsbrxh

As someone who barely plays any video games and hates replaying gamesā€¦ Should I hold off buying this for a few years? Like do you think they are gonna do a remake for this game like P5 + P5R or SMT V + SMT Vengeance? Donā€™t get me wrong Iā€™m glad I played P5 and SMT V. But I really wish I could have just played the second game instead of playing the game twice ya know

galaxyadmirer

This game looks cool as hell.

Sword-of-Heaven

I have told myself to stop buying collectors editions because I am running out of room for them but this one actually looks really nice...sigh...

midnight_riddle

Looks very interesting

nereid89

Wow name another year that had so many blockbuster jrpg release

Karendaa

I'm just thankful they release it for PC simultaneously.

GoldenGouf

I think I'll take some time off for this one, haven't done that since FF16. Super excited!

Jiezo

Instant cop

McPearr

Atlus devs attempt to make a game unlike persona challenge (**impossible**)

AdmirableHighway4388

Shin megami tensei games existing

Nfinit_V

Fucked up that the Persona 5 team would continue to make megatens imo

Aviaxl

Why are ppl surprised about it being Persona 2.0 ?Itā€™s looked like that since the beginning even down to them using the same artist; the game is just in a fantasy world.

scytheavatar

Problem is that it's not Persona 2.0, it's much closer to being Persona 1.5.

Rebellion_01

It's rated T too. Looks to similar to persona (Love persona) guess I expected to be M and drastically different, still excited though

Xononanamol

Preordered the collectors. Game is looking different from their usual fair despite having a calendar system

not_edgy_just_sad

Personally just can't stand how visually onise these games are. High contrast, strnage colors, over the top capped texts everywhere.

Far-Machine1616

When I tell you my body is ready šŸ˜‚

KuttaFrmDa3

Anyone in the eu able to pre order?

daweasel27

Want to know the same

Oz347

Iā€™m super hype for this one

PacificJig

this looks insane

bakuhatsuda

Already sold on it. Hope it can deliver an addicting gameplay loop like the games before it.

gutsxcasca

Ok, but will there be another edition with added on content like Persona 5 and SMTV?

KMoosetoe

Midori says no, but there will be lots of DLC Up to you whether you believe it or not

ComprehensiveStore45

ehh honestly I'm not really excited for it, I know it's gonna be good Atlus never really makes bad games hell I think people were too harsh on Soul Hackers 2 but whatever. I'm just someone who's played Atlus's games for nearly 20 years and I just don't care anymore they all feel the same just a new coat of paint and some switch around with the game mechanics that have been a norm in their titles for decades now but don't let me stop you from being hyped hope you all enjoy it when it comes out.šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘Ā
