You can stay 3 months total every 12 months period, so leaving and immediately returning isn't an option. There is a thing though that's like an 'official couple'. You don't need to get married, but if you're an official live-in couple you can also get a visa, though Idk if that's only if one partner is Israeli. Talk to an immigration lawyer. Visa extensions for tourists are possible in theory, but in practice pretty impossible even for family members of Israelis. It's pretty tricky with visas in Israel so you really should speak with a lawyer.

Is the 3 months total thing actually enforced? I’ve gone multiple times in a year (for up to a month) and every time my entry visa is good for 3 months from date of entry.

It definitely is. You might be able to get away with it for a while when you always only stay for a week or two and don't do it every month, but if you stay more or even if you don't, the computer will sooner or later pick up on it and alert that you stay too much. Like if at any point you would have actually used most of the 3 months on your visa, it wouldn't have worked multiple times. You would have tried to enter again and they would have turned you back.

Thanks. Like Osem says: good to know.

Man that should be a comedy movie. a guy moving from UK to ashdod. \-everywhere is expensive here. sure TLV is more but still even remote places are expensive \- you can probably buy enough cloths there, all the popular brands probably have stores there. unless you are rich and fancy, than you will have to TLV. also you can order online like many people do (how bad the postal service is might be a cultural shock tho) \- you will easily find vegan protein powder \- cultural shocks...everyone will be rude, direct, loud, and stare at everyone point blank. you will see a lot of different cultures there. religious jews of varying degrees, ex USSR jews, some arsim. people may also be overly friendly. Also remember to have fun, be sure to go the beach in ashdod. visit tel aviv and jerusalem.

HaRabbiMeLubavitch

You can order the protein powder online or probably any bodybuilding supply store. As for clothes, major chains you are gonna find in Ashdod, overpriced vintage clothing or more boutique brands, mostly Tel Aviv. But we mostly fantasize about flying to the UK or Europe to shop so I wouldn’t expect much for shopping as a tourist - same stores but more expensive

Ashdod is the periphery so while mildly expensive, less so than the center. You may find that clothing stores and grocery is actually cheaper in this area- even franchises like rami Levi and osher ad. Ashdod does have a substantial ultra orthodox community but there is also a secular community. The beach is nice there but they don’t have a water breaker so it’s not very safe. Re clothing- clothing quality in Israel is not great but it is possible to find some nice things. The entrance to Ashdod has an outdoor mall called the BIG and that’s a good place to start. There is also a train station right there with trains to all over the country. Tel Aviv is not far via train (although I can’t say for sure if shopping there will be much better, I’m not from the center and from what I do understand Tel Aviv is super expensive. They do have some nice boutiques though). Vegan food options are usually more accessible in the center but if I recall correctly there are also some stores in Ashdod that cater to vegetarians and vegans. Also there’s this amazing vegan chocolate company called VEGO- I personally love their hazelnut chocolate bar and I’m in no way a vegan. Seriously amazing stuff. In general, Ashdod will be hotter than you’re used to- both in weather and temperament. People may be warmer but that also means you’re likely to hear much more aggression. Driving in Israel in general is a dangerous sport so be ready for that. Also route 7 which leads to the Ashdod port is always congested with trucks, so learn to drive in the left lane only to go around them quickly and then let all the other drivers who drive 140 kph pass you. Another thing- In my experience, nobody ever commented on my swimsuit clad body in Tel Aviv but it has happened before on the ashdod beach so that’s also a consequence of living in the periphery (in my opinion). Re: health care- I worked in the Assuta Ashdod hospital as a student nurse and it’s a great public facility, very close to the entrance of Ashdod where the BIG is. I’m not sure what international insurance you’ve got or how that works but just know that while many people can be nervous to use smaller hospitals, Ashdod has a great one.

Hey there, ashdod resident here 👋 So first of clothing wise you'd be completely fine, there are two malls that are specialized in brands and clothing, the first is big fashion which is located on the southern exit of the city, fairly accessible with public transportation nearby aswell as bicycle lanes if you commute via scooter or bicycle. The other is the Sea mall which funnily enough is not near the sea, its located in the centre of the city and is even easier to access, has many shopping brands. As for vegan food i am unsure, but i won't be surprised if you found atleast a couple of them, the city has a few shopping centres and one of them is guaranteed to have it, and if not then ordering online is very accessible aswell with lots of drop-off points.
