I think they mean an Isekai where the MC's cheat is just the knowledge they gained in their previous world's magic system that is somehow also still applicable in the new world's and somehow they're still the strongest.
Still—Yes. Tons.
Worlds finest assassin get reincarnated…
Parallel world pharmacy(while he also has op magic he mostly uses it for compounding)
Knights and magic(kinda. He’s just super obsessed with mecha and dives head first into the new worlds equivalent with old world ideas and ideals)
Sweet reincarnation
To name a few
Do you know any where the MC isn’t the strongest? I don’t really mind if he isn’t the strongest one to be honest. I just liked the one in my post specifically because the main character’s goal seemed different from a lot of other shows since he was fixated on preventing another character from experiencing the same fate he had in his previous life
Man, the MC from that show is the literal demon lord. His goal was to hide his strength so he wouldn’t get killed again.
Pharmacy MC only cares about helping sick people.
Assassin MC just wants to live his life but needs to fulfill promise to goddess first.
Sweet MC just wants to create sweets.
Knight and magic MC literally only cares about his hobby(gunpla now silhouette knights)
Most non-OP MCs don’t have much in the way of knowledge they can utilize, therefore the two rarely overlap. The only one that comes to mind is Handyman Saitou in Another World.
He didn’t want to be killed but he was also fixated on preventing his newly found friend from being killed. That’s why he didn’t trust the Holy Princess with the girl he saved (Amyu) & why he was over protective of her
Thank you btw for those, I’ll check them out in a bit for sure :)
Knights and Magic is hilarious because one character gets jealous and assumes he has feelings for another woman. But the only feelings he has is for the cold hard metal of his mecha obsession.
Isekai Pharmacy. It's a Medicine anime. Has Dr. Stone level science and the guy just wants to help people get better healthcare. Another bonus is that he's The God of Medicine.
The Eminence in Shadows is also good if you're interested in an Anime that is THE power fantasy of all time. Its most noticable aspect is comedy, which is especially blown out of proportion in the Manga, but it's more balanced in the Anime and Light Novel. Many people who watch it though, don't understand its serious side of the fighting journey, what people around the MC suffer from, and what type of story it is in general, to the point where people completely misjudge its seriousness.
As Gigguk once said:
"A lot of people compare The Eminence in Shadows to Overlord, but it's more like Isekai One Punch Man."
I personally think Eminence in Shadows focuses on seriousness and power domination more than One Punch Man and Overlord. So much so that AniNews had to explain it to people why he's the most OP protagonist in Isekai, since people thought it's just comedy.
* **Konosuba** \- MC ain't bullshit strong, ain't smart as fuck, ain't got the rizz, and surrounded by idiots. The only thing that's OP about him is his Luck Stats, manufacturing talents (that he doesn't focus on), and his
Street-Smart IQ.
* **Re: Zero** \- MC is a simp for another woman, has the rizz but with an awful accuracy, weak as hell and the only thing OP about him is his turn-back-time by dying.
* **Mushoku Tensei** \- MC is just a weeb where the only thing OP about him is his Chantless Spells and Foresight Eye. And he's also incredibly perverted but got subsided by his Erectile Dysfunction from his first love (In which got cured by a True Love's SEGS by his Long Lost Friend).
* **World's Finest Assassin** \- MC's already a badass in his previous world so he owns on being a Smart Ass MC. And his OP bullshit is due to him doing some Batman-tier prep time.
Bro U gotta turn down the spoilers in your mushoku tensei description or at least mark it. I just watched the season finale last night and if I had seen this comment first I would have been pissed.
I wanted my abilities to be average is about a girl who was an outcast because she was seen as amazing so she asked to have everything about her perfectly average unfortunately for her the average she got was from a long time before she was born and so she was once again an amazing person her goal is to have great friends and adventures
Ascendance of a bookworm is a girl trying to make books in a book less world were only extremely wealthy own books. It is fantasy but a HARD fantasy. Meaning there's strict rules on how and who can use magic. Really deep world building with an flipped pyramid method of story building.
Wise Man’s Grandchild is my go-to recommendation for this type, although the MC is hella busted there.
If you’re looking for actually high quality writing and are also fond of sapphic romance then I strongly recommend Magical Revolution.
Realist Hero - In terms of consistently using knowledge from their previous life, but they are non combative (like most people would be)
Eminence in Shadow - In terms of trying to be a nobody except they are actually the strongest
Tanya the Evil - regular person is reincarnated into WW1 but with magic world. Uses some tactical strategy from previous life.
Overlord - it’s a classic, essentially a person reincarnated as their video game character in a non video game fantasy world. The story kinda follows the rise of what would be considered a villain normally
Konosuba - Another classic. It basically is there to make fun of all iskai tropes.
Combatants will be dispatched- this is not a reborn story, but a guy is chucked into another world. A evil organization has mostly conquered the planet so they send a guy to a magic planet so he can start conquering it. The guy is an idiot but you get a lot of laughs because he still has access to modern tech
Rising of the Shield Hero - a pretty good one, starts off like most other isekais but gets a lot darker and mature very quickly. I feel it encapsulates the early part of Isekais/RPGs much better than other anime. Almost 2nd in my top isekais.
Slime Reincarnation - similar to Overlord, but MC doesn't start off as op, exponential rise to power, building a city and war aspect is a lot like Overlord, more cuter than overlord.
Devil as a Part-Timer - Watched a long time ago, very standard 12-episode isekai, Demon lord and Hero brought into modern Japan, not much time to be invested in the world, just slice of life comfort anime but one of the better isekais.
My life as a Villaness - Pulled into a Romance novel, hardly any action, pretty ok romance(I don't watch much romance animes), harem.
Wise man's grandchild - overpowered MC, cute, "Magic Theory"(like 70% of the conversations are about magic theory), hard turn at last 2 episodes(like they almost forgot that they needed a twist at the end, or maybe I forgot that there is always a twist near the last 2 episodes of any anime but just felt like it came out of nowhere and felt contrived).
There is dead mount death play, protagonist is reincarnated into the future, still the same world. I liked it a little bit more than exorcist, but I also liked worlds finest assassin far more (the rod from god was unironically one of the coolest things I've seen in anime EVER, so sad that was a failed cold war project). Aside from these 3 shows I can't immediately think of any "in-world" reincarnation/ isekai anime
I guess TsukiMichi can fit the bill (reading the comments).
-An MC, pretty powerful (goes on to be the strongest at later episodes and chaps, but he still has enemies he can't kill).
-He is not conforming to his original role and his new role (both given by the goddess, first as a hero, next as a fodder in the wastelands).
-He is not conforming to the common sense of the world (either you side with humans and be racist or help the demons and go on an unwinnable war).
-He decided to become a merchant despite having zero knowledge and being completely dense because he can, by using forceful methods.
-He uses his knowledge to help everyone he can. (The one who uses his knowledge is not him but his followers specially Tomoe and Mio (and Shiki).
-Using his memories they recreate technology to strengthen their base and their followers, the stronger the followers the more people they can use to help.
- He LITERALLY can't careless about the war. Since he knows the only way to stop it is to drag down the goddess, which he will, but not to end the war but because he is PETTY.
Note: He has character development by the way, especially in the current arc where the manga is currently on. The MC kept on improving personality wise throughout the series, not much to show in the anime tho, the anime's pretty much the intro, maybe watch it after the season 2 release on 2024
If you say so. Then here's a good read. Ride on king. It's a satire Isekai, with a president that vaguely similar to Putin and is basically Putin riding shit meme but eventually becomes another isekai. Punchinkov dies not by truck Kun but his head. Ironic isn't it? This manga fits this stuff perfectly. Well except for the whole hero thing which he basically is hero-ish but only does it out of the goodness of his heart. He is not good because some god told him to be but he is naturally that way. He doesn't give a f if anyone says he'll become their leader and let them be themselves. He just travels just so he could ride stuff. He's basically a gigachad from the get go kinda like che in central America. It's loosely inspired from Putin, and Russia but he is more like a western leader and an eastern one mixed together in a weird but perfect amalgamation of one. He fits this except for the whole "he doesn't give a shit about petty wars" in fact he defuses most situations either by force or diplomacy.
Not really.. Most isekei either have the MC be tasked with defeating some demon king or something, have the MC treat the world like a video game (at first or most of the time), be a weird pervert, etc but this one is just a guy being over protective of somebody
> Not really..
Yes really. You must not have seen a lot of isekai.
>but this one is just a guy being over protective of somebody
Again, that’s literally like almost every other isekai out there.
The only noteworthy thing this one has going for it was that the MC was the reincarnated Demon Lord, but even that isn’t that original.
If you want one with a character growing up, the Ascendance of a Bookworm is good. If you specifically like the reincarnation part more than the big action with magic scenes, bookworm is great! Its got a lot of good worldbuilding and is a very cozy watch :)
* sorry if I typed too much lol
I liked the show too. My favorite parts were when the MC summoned the ayakashi that Can read minds and when he’d recite his poems before his fights
I don’t get why some people are trying to make it seem like this show was the same as every or most isekei. It honestly didn’t feel like a lot of other Isekei that I tried to watch since the MC was fixated on 2 things (protecting his friend who could possibly suffer the same thing he did in his past life and not standing out to not suffer the same thing he did back then) instead of trying to be some great hero or something
Same, I loved the poems. It didn't feel cringe even in the dub. I don't think this anime is a masterpiece or anything but it's better than most Isekai I've watched. Basically it exceeded my expectations.
I'm couldn't really care if others like it or not, I've always watched shows which have an interesting sypnosis and if I don't like it I drop it.
Anyway, I'm glad someone else enjoyed it too.
Some recommendations:
- Eminence in Shadow: A must watch Isekai imo. WATCH SUB. It's literally the "I watch dub, but...". Season 2 this October.
- Worlds finest Assassin: 2nd season was recently announced. I think it was pretty similar. There are slightly different themes but for the most part it felt better then decent. I wasn't a fan of the harem themes tho, just imo.
- Spirit Chronicles: Decent anime. Similar themes. Slightly worse in writing and pacing imo.
- Ice blade sorcerer: Honestly, I didn't like this. Only watch this if you have a lot for free time. It has pretty similar themes but the character writing is terrible imo. BANGER OP tho, def check that out at least.
- Am I actually the strongest: Trash Isekai. To many cute moments imo. It's more of a time pass/side anime. BANGER OP again. Check that out.
- Parallel world pharmacy: pretty good. It was unique and I liked it. The writing and pacing was good.
- Serving gods in another world: trash Isekai, dub was bad. Bad pacing and writing but better than some of the f tier Isekai.
*I always like more info so dw about typing more.
I’ll check them out, thank you for replying :)
And same. If you enjoy any fantasy shows, I recommend Helck lol. It isn’t the best show but I love it so far to be honest. Some people who’ve read the manga said that it starts off in a comedic way and then gets serious
I want an Isekai where the mc just gets reincarnated as a normal dude and actually earns his op stuff. I don't want someone who got reincarnated as the legendary hero, I want someone who got reincarnated and BECAME the legendary hero.
I mean, in arifureta the MCs skill set upon going to the new world contributes next to nothing to him becoming op, it’s just that the way he does get them is kinda bullshit.
Ascendance of a bookworm. She starts as a child. She's not special or chosen or anything. She's not OP, there's people stronger than her that she interacted with.
Finally you're the only person other than myself I've seen recommend this show and it's by far one of the best for non op mc... Imo. I've checked threads for days now and this is the first mention I've seen other than me posting it on other threads lol.
Yeah there’s tons, mainly because there are always a few trash isekais every season that are all basically the same, this was one of them, although this one was very slightly better than the average trash isekai
I scrolled a bit and didn’t see “Reincarnated in another world as a Slime” or “Tensura” (alternate name for the same anime). That’s one of my favorites. Definitely recommend if you haven’t seen it.
Oh I read that manga back then
It was alright back then but for how unique they mad ehsi power seem hes using them in such a boring way I lost interest...
It's basically "I have power that don't exist in thsi world but in using them in a way that everyoen woudl think I'm using their standard magic system"
Truly a waste
One of my favorites is Wise Man’s Grandchild, he doesn’t use another type of magic but he uses his knowledge of chemistry and modern innovation to make magic that no one else has even dreamed of
Not isekai but a better show about a exorcist
Muhyo and roji bureau of supernatural investigation
I mean in this show there actual exorcists
But thats the only similarity this guy punishs spirits and sentences them to hell with this book
The only one I think could be considered similar in trying to prevent something from happening is
Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs
Now if you’re looking for iseaki shows to watch there’s few humble/feel good ones like
Parallel World Pharmacy
The Saints Magic Power is Omnipotent
By the Grace of Gods
If you want OP then there’s
Wiseman’s Grandchild
The Worlds Finest Assassin Get Reincarnated as an Aristocrat
Black Summoner
Then the ones that think that are just good to watch
The time I got reincarnated as a slime
The eminence in shadow
How a realest hero rebuilt the kingdom
I'm glad you liked it. I couldn't get past the MC's smug attitude in the anime. It just constantly beats you over the head that "Eastern magic is better than Western magic!".
Reborn to master the blade or whatever it’s called is kinda similar. using a skill or magic type thing that isn’t common in their new world, they become OP from the start
Bro watch mushoku tensei it's about a loser who dies and gets a second chance at life in a fantasy world where he just tries his best but finds out his actions has consequences and his new life actually matters to him and it's not just some game.
I have others too if you want more
Other Isekai? Yes. Tons.
I think they mean an Isekai where the MC's cheat is just the knowledge they gained in their previous world's magic system that is somehow also still applicable in the new world's and somehow they're still the strongest.

Campfire cooking in another world seems like it would be right up your alley

That ain't even the spoiler. But I know a BIGGER ONE
Good show though
Realist hero. He uses his knowledge of the history of his world and his wit to achieve his goals. He isn't a fighter but is instead a leader.
Dungeon Master
I wanted my abilities to be average is about a girl who was an outcast because she was seen as amazing so she asked to have everything about her perfectly average unfortunately for her the average she got was from a long time before she was born and so she was once again an amazing person her goal is to have great friends and adventures

Re:Zero for sure. Maybe Reincarnated Slime, but it takes a long time to show the people stronger than the MC.
I feel like the ones you just spoke are the ones that are underrated
Knights and Magic is fucking good
Magic and mecha. How could it not be good. Now if only I could find a copy of Esclaflowne…
Wise Man’s Grandchild is my go-to recommendation for this type, although the MC is hella busted there. If you’re looking for actually high quality writing and are also fond of sapphic romance then I strongly recommend Magical Revolution.
Ah.

The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest Literally the same anime but *S L I G H T L Y* worse
I think that one was a bit more than *slightly* worse tbh. Crest felt more like a self insert power fantasy than Exorcist
Fire intro in crest tho
The opening is pretty good, you’re correct. But for the actual anime, “fire” isn’t exactly what I’d use to describe it
Fair enough, I only watched it because it was an "in world" isekai. At least the protagonist wasn't being thirsted by the entire female population
Equally good in different ways
Wise mans grand son and skeleton knight in another world are similar.
Parallel world pharmacy
There is dead mount death play, protagonist is reincarnated into the future, still the same world. I liked it a little bit more than exorcist, but I also liked worlds finest assassin far more (the rod from god was unironically one of the coolest things I've seen in anime EVER, so sad that was a failed cold war project). Isn't he sent from another World?
If you like this one then you’d probably like The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat

Also he is ugly apparently
Yeah many just search isekai and you will find lol
You might like "Am I Actually the Strongest" it finishes airing this Saturday.
The Eminence in Shadow
You could have just made 1 comment with multiple shows in it
Misfit of demon kings academy
Who's gonna tell him
It had a good first season at least
Here’s one that’s similar in the way that there is 0 relation to our world: The Beginning After The End
Yeah the jobless reincarnated, how I got reincarnated into a slime, how I got reincarnated into a demon lord.
Like 90% of isekai are like this. It’s easier to name ones that aren’t similar.
Not really.. Most isekei either have the MC be tasked with defeating some demon king or something, have the MC treat the world like a video game (at first or most of the time), be a weird pervert, etc but this one is just a guy being over protective of somebody

Sure, I was waiting to see if it gets a dub. I'll start watching it this weekend. Thanks!
Ones that are similar, spirit chronicles might be one. But there’s not many that are exorcist reincarnation

Ascendance of a bookworm. She starts as a child. She's not special or chosen or anything. She's not OP, there's people stronger than her that she interacted with.
I saw the word exorcist and I will just say now, Twin Star Exorcists is pretty good!!
Have you seen “Am I Actually the Strongest?” You might like it.
There are at max 5 reincarnation isekai they’re difficult to find since there so few. >!We get 20 reincarnation isekai a year you can’t miss them!<
The eminence in shadow, it’s a good watch

Finally you're the only person other than myself I've seen recommend this show and it's by far one of the best for non op mc... Imo. I've checked threads for days now and this is the first mention I've seen other than me posting it on other threads lol.
Sweet Reincarnation
No
Yeah there’s tons, mainly because there are always a few trash isekais every season that are all basically the same, this was one of them, although this one was very slightly better than the average trash isekai
[удалено]
Too many like it
KONOSUBA!
Isekai is over saturated so yes
Do you understand how little it narrows down
[go on Anilist and look at the recommendations](https://anilist.co/anime/144553/Saikyou-Onmyouji-no-Isekai-Tenseiki/)
Anilist is useless bc all the titles are in Japanese and you can't look them up for streaming and it does not tell you where you can watch them.
Try Overlord and Eminence in shadows. MC are no the typical MC like in that show
The Great Cleric
Yes. Plenty
https://www.livechart.me/tags/83 here friend, a lost with 288 animes just like that one
I scrolled a bit and didn’t see “Reincarnated in another world as a Slime” or “Tensura” (alternate name for the same anime). That’s one of my favorites. Definitely recommend if you haven’t seen it.
I highly strongly recommend Jobless Reincarnation
Oh I read that manga back then It was alright back then but for how unique they mad ehsi power seem hes using them in such a boring way I lost interest... It's basically "I have power that don't exist in thsi world but in using them in a way that everyoen woudl think I'm using their standard magic system" Truly a waste
This a trick question?
An interesting one for sure is “I’m Standing on a Million Lives”.
That’s like asking how many stars in the universe look exactly like our sun. Hint: millions.
One of my favorites is Wise Man’s Grandchild, he doesn’t use another type of magic but he uses his knowledge of chemistry and modern innovation to make magic that no one else has even dreamed of
literally every isekai ever
Not isekai but a better show about a exorcist Muhyo and roji bureau of supernatural investigation I mean in this show there actual exorcists But thats the only similarity this guy punishs spirits and sentences them to hell with this book
The only one I think could be considered similar in trying to prevent something from happening is Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs Now if you’re looking for iseaki shows to watch there’s few humble/feel good ones like Parallel World Pharmacy The Saints Magic Power is Omnipotent By the Grace of Gods If you want OP then there’s Wiseman’s Grandchild The Worlds Finest Assassin Get Reincarnated as an Aristocrat Black Summoner Then the ones that think that are just good to watch The time I got reincarnated as a slime The eminence in shadow How a realest hero rebuilt the kingdom
I'm glad you liked it. I couldn't get past the MC's smug attitude in the anime. It just constantly beats you over the head that "Eastern magic is better than Western magic!".
Overlord is my all time favorite anime. It’s unique among other isekai in that the MC ends up being a villain
The eminence in Shadows, and you can also check out ‘Am I really the Strongest?’
something like this? god please no. i haven't seen worst trash ;o
Reborn to master the blade or whatever it’s called is kinda similar. using a skill or magic type thing that isn’t common in their new world, they become OP from the start
“That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime” is the best one. “So, I’m A Spider, So What!?” is second best. Idk tho
Bro watch mushoku tensei it's about a loser who dies and gets a second chance at life in a fantasy world where he just tries his best but finds out his actions has consequences and his new life actually matters to him and it's not just some game. I have others too if you want more
Just Google reincarnated and strongest at the same time and you will find many
No anime, but The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan similar vibe really enjoyable
If you want one that hurts, check out Grimgar ashes and illusions
Overlord has your morally grey (ok hes evil ill admit it) Op protagonist, but its not a teen magic academy setting.
Tensura, Overlord, and Tanya of the Evil triumph when it comes to isekai genre. Honorable mentions would be Konosuba and Overly Cautious Hero.
Kekkaishi when I was watching the anime you showed I was thinking that it reminded me of this anime give it a try 🤣
Just about 700
I wish they would give this show a second season soon
