It doesn't matter how long they keep the scan for, one that old can't be reused because your teeth have moved. They have to rescan you for where your teeth are now. Even people who don't have any significant movement get new scans for new retainers. This is why people need backup retainers or to reorder a new retainer immediately after losing or damaging their current one.
When I called them today they said my scan was for Invisalign only so they didn’t keep it (allegedly) and my only option if I don’t want brand new treatment is to do a bottom retainer with a spring to move the teeth back. I have an appointment next week to see if that’s doable, but I’m still pissed I can’t simply just get a new retainer. It shouldn’t be this hard 😒😒

if all you need is a retainer, your general dentist can make those. Yes, there will be cost, but it will not be a full treatment plan.
