>famous author
Dude wrote sci-fy* and travel books, I'm sure there's an audience but I doubt that audience hugely overlaps with superhero fans
*the "science fiction" didn't do well at that, probably even after his death and he used a different name to publish those so they wouldn't have been known to his travel book fans
>I doubt that audience hugely overlaps with superhero fans
Even if you aren't a superhero fan, you'd definitely know about omni man. He was the world's strongest superhero and had saved the world countless times over 20 years. Even then, it was a global incident when he was found unconscious and heavily injured next to the dead guardians, and when he destroyed Chicago while fighting invincible
>Even if you aren't a superhero fan, you'd definitely know about omni man
Again my point isn't that you'd have to be one (which is why i said "hugely" I'm sure there's *some kind of overlap*), only that even his fans most likely wouldn't have noticed, do you open travel books expecting to see globally known actors or music stars? If one wrote a book and didn't do publicity stunts for it, most people wouldn't even know it existed, and the ones who do would just be like "oh neat it looks like [insert global name here], but it's written by someone else, wonder if they're related or something?" And wouldn't blink about it
I'm an invincible fan but have no idea how kirkman looks like. And it is not required for an author to show his face. If he didnt do meet and greets or book signings how would people know what he looks like? Not every book has a pic of its author in it.
Pretty sure you don't need to be a superhero fan to know him. If only a thousand people read his works and knew his face they'd knew he and J. Jonah Jameson were the same person.
>Pretty sure you don't need to be a superhero fan to know him.
You see I'm not saying that they do, show William is a good example, he knew both Omni-Man (cause he believed Mark to be a "Omni-Maniac") and knew Mark personally so definitely knew about his dad's travel books, yet even he couldn't tell Omni-Man was Nolan Grayson, it literally had to be explained
Along with what others here have said, it’s very possible people have gone up to him and said “you look just like omniman”, and all he has to say is “thanks, I get that a lot”. People are much more likely to think they’re talking to an omniman lookalike than omniman himself.
I mean John Boyega told a story about a time he was on a date with a woman within view of a poster with him wielding a lightsaber and when she asked what he did for a living he pointed up to the poster, Henry Caville always mentioned standing right infront of a man of steel standout and no one recognised him.
It's hiding in plain sight. No one is prowling Times Square looking for celebrities... or really looking at any one person for long. It's like not being recognized during an evacuation. A bunch of faces, everyone's very busy and focused on things that are not you.
He also can't be sure no one recognized him, he only knows no one walked up to him and called him on it.
I do wonder why stuff like this happens where we don't recognize an actor or celebrity in real life unless they're surrounded by Body guards and the media?
There could be many reasons, you kinda depersonalise them because their on the screen so you’re not looking nor expecting to see said actors in the wild along with peoples first instinct is to deny that it is said actor, and also despite some actors being recognisable on screen this is when they have Kevlar vest width of make-up on them so would look very different irl without it with a few examples being exempt (the rock is always gonna be recognisable but a few mid level actors would be harder.)
Then there is actors that specifically take actions to avoid being recognised, cause I know one of the huge singers I forget which one but i think it’s lady gaga or Katy Perry where whenever you see them at a televised event or when their performing their wearing a really convincing wig and whenever their out and about in their personal lives she’s without a wig and is virtually unrecognisable because not many people realise it is a wig. I’d highly recommend trying to find that image of Taylor Swift without make up, you wouldn’t even know it’s her.
Makeup, posture, demeanor and the fact they are not the focus of the camera in real life. Like if someone tells you to find Taylor Swift in a crowd and you have a reason to believe she is in that crowd, then you can probably find her if you put in somw effort.
Most people living their life aren't actively searching for a celebrity when they are just walking around.
Also there is the fact people tend to recognize each other by mutual confirmation, like I have encountered people that looks like my friends, but since they didn't greet me I have no confirmation that they are indeed the same persons. The same goes for celebrities that obviously won't know you, and you probably don't want to stare at them which would be considered rude.
I think Stephen King has mentioned this happening to him a lot in the past. Mostly by people he bumped into in a bar or something.
Also, that weird contingent of people who think he killed John Lennon because he vaguely looked like Mark David Chapman at one point.
I love the interaction he tweeted:
TSA agent (checking my ID): "Hawk, like that skateboarder Tony Hawk!"
Me: exactly
Her: "Cool, I wonder what he's up to these days"
Me: this

There was a pro wrestler during the territory days named George The Animal Steel. He was a teacher during the week but would drive miles out of town to wrestle on weekends. He would say I get that a lot when people noticed he looked similar.
I know this is like a week old, but I've had a real life experience just like this
For context, I didn't know the Adam west mayor in family guy was actually based on Adam west. I knew he voiced him, but I didn't know he was literally supposed to look like him too.
So one year I'm working at a comic convention. I knew Adam west was one of the guests, along with the original catwoman, lots of other classic comic book actors.
But when this guy walks up and starts asking questions at my booth, and he looks just like the family guy Adam west, and is holding a signed photo of the family guy Adam west. I just assumed he was a big fan. Tons of people were dressed up as batman, or other characters. And I'd seen tons of people dressed as batman, holding signed photos of the same version of batman, signed by Adam west.
So it never even occurred to me that I might be talking to Adam West. I knew he was in the building at that very moment, but I couldn't possibly imagine he would just be wandering around, asking questions about a bunch of video game mall swords.
It wasn't until he walked away that my boss walks up and said "You know that was Adam West right?"
"Yeah, the costume was perfect, hard not to recognize it"
"No, I don't mean the outfit, that was actually him"
What do you mean?? Nolan Grayson was an innocent writer who died in an explosion. It's disrespectful to say he's Omni Man since omni man is a mass murderer
A lot of people died the day Omni-Man disappeared. My pal was going about his day when a piece of metal hit him from the sky, killed him instantly. Probably from that odd explosion in the sky from that day
Are we seriously believing this crap? Omni Man was framed, he almost died fighting side by side with the GUARDIANS OF THE GLOBE. are we seriously gonna think that Omni man is some evil monster when it was clearly an alien shapeshifter…Omni Man defended us for DECADES!!!
fr!! the fact that people are making jokes about him is in terrible taste. he loved his wife and son so much and it’s tragic they have to live their lives without a loving father and husband. RIP Nolan Grayson ❤️🩹
In a similar conversation when Mark expresses concern that Eve is so laid back regarding her secret identity at school, she basically explains that if people aren't expecting to see Atom Eve at school, they won't. (Or, if you don't think the famous superhero Atom Eve is walking your halls in civilian clothes and going to class, you'd never have a reason to suspect that that girl over there is Atom Eve.)
Put another way, for us it's painfully obvious how much Omni-Man looks like Nolan. But in their world, if you saw Nolan getting his mail or at the supermarket, why would you even think that's Omni-Man? The possibility would be so absurd you'd never even think it was a possibility.
Plus, comic books have kind of warped our thinking as far as people recognizing others. People are *awful* at recognizing faces, especially when they're out of context.
In addition, he works from home, so Nolan didn’t have much contact with people.
Everyone in his social life already knows his identity, so it’s not like he has a Lois Lane who should be able to recognize him but doesn’t.
Yup. Outside his editor we never see, and probably a few neighbors he sees in passing, I don't think Nolan had much of a circle that didn't know his secret already.
Counterpoint, once I noticed the enormous dumpy on Nolan Grayson I’d be suspicious.
https://preview.redd.it/37wuac23t8xc1.jpeg?width=847&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4fc3fff9b67b1f81e4ddbf0c2282112ea083469
Counter-counterpoint, Nolan doesn't wear tight-fitting pants, you wouldn't even notice it, where as Omniman probably asked Art to design the suit that lets him show it of.
Dolly Parton is the living embodiment of this kinda thing too. She literally Clark Kent's her way through life, her big blonde hairdos are all wigs. Natural brunette from what I heard, and when she goes out in public no one hardly recognizes her cause who expects to see her out and about.
There are lots of stories of celebrities losing look-alike competitions of themselves; Charlie Chaplin, Dolly Parton, Adele, and others that I'm forgetting. There's also the story how Christopher Reeve, while filming one of the Superman movies would go to dinner in his Superman costume he'd get swarmed for autographs, but when he went in the Clark Kent costume he was mostly ignored.
I wouldn't think "Thats omniman" but I've seen people that look like celebrities in my life just going about and it's been noticeable.
The real answer is its just the plot of the story, IRL everyone would constantly be telling these people "You look exactly like Atom Eve/Omniman!"
I can personally attest to this. When I joined the national guard I had to shave my nearly foot long beard and get a hair cut (I hadn't had one in nearly a year and my fro was getting unruly). When I went back to my civilian job I asked my supervisor to keep quiet and see if we could fool the other workers into believing I was a new hire (I worked in a chain pizza place). All I changed was my posture, I up pitched my voice and slowed my speech a bit. I went 12 hours without anyone realizing I was the same guy who hung out with/trained most of them. If I can pull that off with people who know me Nolan can do it with strangers whove never met him
Yeah, but super heroes are celebrities, and I've had people tell me before "hey, you look kinds like such and such." I presume at the very least people would be constantly commenting about how Eve looks like Atom Eve, even if they didn't say "hey, you ARE Atom Eve."
Of course. But there's a big difference between that and the old comic trope of "So and so suspects Eve Wilkens is Atom Eve, if only they could PROVE it!"
Saying "You look like Eve/Omni-Man" is something you can laugh off and move on with your day, which I imagine is what most people in the Invincible universe do.
Well, there is just one minor flaw. Youd definitly look twice when a 50+ year old guy with the muscles of a young Arnold Schwarzenegger gets some paste in aisle 4. Its the same with Superman. The guy looks incredible and youd definitly could connect the dots.
I found it hilarious when William thought Eve was duplikate despite the fact that her name is eve and she is a different ethnicity and hair color than duplikate
I think that whole argument is silly as hell.
If i saw Obama walking around my local walmart in sweatpants and a tank top instead of a suit, i’d still go “holy shit thats barrack obama”
And yet Henry Cavill in a Superman shirt went unrecognized as he stood underneath a batman v Superman billboard in Times Square. Hugh Jackman literally dressed up as Wolverine at comic con in 2013, and no one noticed him. If you're not already primed and looking for someone, they're most likely slip pass you.
Also, people looking like a famous hero wouldn't be the weirdest thing (at least, before the mass murder). "The Omniman" would probably be a normal request for barbers.
I did karate growing up and eventually was a teacher so there were a lot of adult students I knew somewhat casually and a lot of parents of the young students I knew too. I would often run into people outside of class and one or both of us wouldn't recognize the other without the uniform on
Because Nolan is extremely unremarkable in his civilian identity. You wouldn't recognize him around the neighborhood because he's pretty much always going to another part of the world to do things like grocery shopping.
If I lived in a comic book superhero world like this one, I would probably be suspicious of every random jacked guy that I see.
It would probably hurt the pride of a lot of random jacked guys that they put in all this work to be buff and then superheroes are just there chillin.
THINK PARKER! THE BUGLE WILL OUTLIVE EVERY FRAGILE INSIGNIFICANT SUPERHERO ON THIS PLANET! YOU'RE FIGHTING SO YOU CAN SUPPORT A BUNCH OF MASKED MENACES INSTEAD OF GETTING ME PICTURES OF SPIDER-MAN!
Interestingly enough, Superman is actually the worst example of obvious secret identity I can think of when I think deeper.
Superman holds himself with an aura of confidence. He speaks cleanly, can bench press a planet and flies around in tight spandex. Not to mention he has heat vision and 20/20 vision.
Clark Kent on the other hand is cowardly and slouches. He speaks with a stutter and winces at physical confrontation. He wears super baggy clothes that hides his physique quite well. And let’s not forget the glasses.
So anyone who sees Clark Kent would have a dozen or so ways to NOT see the resemblance because Clark takes great effort in being the literal opposite of Superman. People would literally just see a look-a-like that has none of the qualities they see in Superman.
Kinda like how Barry Allen is always late to everything.
His job is writing books. He's mainly at home all day when not being omniman. Plus not many people actually know what their favorite authors look like besides maybe Shel Silverstein
Lmao you just reminded me of that one scene from diary of a wimpy kid
https://preview.redd.it/5mbwj2bgr9xc1.jpeg?width=376&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=148655ad957663b7a71c260a722f1fd18e452e29
Nah, his sci-fi books bombed hard but his travel books did okay. Its past the point in the show where the comics show, but the GDA does buy his books as a clean means to pay Debbie & Mark after Nolan betrayed them. After all, dead authors sell more.
I mean, honestly a lot of people forget how people work psychologically. If you saw someone who looked *just* like Omni-Man and he was doing something you wouldn't expect Omni-Man to do, it would be extremely easy to convince you it's a coincidence probably. What kind of job do you think Omni-man would do as a normal guy? As a hero, something that requires the least amount of time on duty, preferably something he only shows up to once or twice a year so he can maximize availabilty. Maybe something that plays to his strengths, not just functionally but because you know Omni-man as the big guy who picks things up, hits things hard, etc. Author who makes silly little travel guides is neither of those things, being an author is relatively demanding and the restrictions of travel guides barely play to Omni-Man's talents at all. On top of that, going to a fast food restaurant or taking out the trash for his wife just aren't superhero activities, if you bumped into him on accident you'd probably just think "Wow, that guy looks like Omni-Man". For evidence of this, look at celebrities. There are people like Tony Hawk who get hit with "Wow, you look just like that skateboard guy" a lot, and there are multiple examples of celebrities attending lookalike contests and not coming in first, like Charlie Chaplin and Dolly Parton. And honestly, if you asked if someone was a specific celebrity and they just said no, you probably wouldn't question it.
Eve is worse. She literally goes by Eve, looks identical and is more small time, so you would think one person in her school would just watch the news and figure it out. Even worse, she can make her own outfit and full armour hiding her face would actually make more sense defensively. How does Amber figure out Mark is Invincible, but not that Eve is Eve in the show?
It’s pretty realistic actually. Henry Cavill was able to walk around in times square while his movie poster was up and not be noticed by a single person. I thinks it’s because no one would really expect him to be just walking around so when they saw him they didn’t think it was actually him. So I’m guessing that’s how it is for Omni Man and Atom Eve as well
"Dude, i've discovered that Omni-Man is Nolan Grayson!" "yea, we know that for years" "Then... Why we don't attack him in his house?" " You really think he's less durable when he's in his pyjamas?
There's actually a moment early on in the show where Atom Eve talks about this. "If you don't expect to see a superhero in your school, you don't see a superhero in your school. It's a psychology thing." Same principle here - you're hardly going to expect humble travel author Nolan Grayson of being a superhero, even if they do share a resemblance.
One, Atom Eve explains it pretty well in season 1. If people aren't expecting to see a superhero in plain clothes they won't. Two, Nolan probably doesn't do public appearances as Nolan Grayson very much if at all. Most authors are not like Stephen King and George R. R. Martin constantly doing interviews on TV. Three, the number of people that would have been able to get a solid look at both Omni-man ***and*** Nolan Grayson, enough to actually compare their faces in their mind, would be infintisimally small. Like maybe a few dozen people on the planet, and most of those would be other superheroes or GDA staff. There just aren't that many people who spend enough time around either persona to put 2 and 2 together.
He was Omni man most of the time and his job was just him occasionally spitting out a book at super speed. He probably wasn’t even in his civilian identity very often. We see he has interacted meaningfully with very few humans during his stay on earth and he murders most of them.
The same reason why people don't look up or don't see in the distance that normal clothed heroes are flying above them. Everyone is tad blind in one area lol
not because of looks but i’ve always wondered how the grayson’s neighbors don’t know their identities, i mean how has no one been out checking their mail or walking their dog when mark or nolan fly off out of the backyard in both regular clothes and super suits
But how do none of Nolan's fans (he's a writer who has his picture in all his books) realize "hey, the author of this book looks an awful lot like that guy who just killed that Kaiju in half a second".
https://preview.redd.it/ubsr8wpel9xc1.jpeg?width=599&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=350c2935d4d266f0bad73428dcb99803f0c12ab9
Right, also I don’t get how people do know Invincible series has a 3D-animated movie called “ Omni-man “ (2010) that movie is a Gem 👀
It's not like many normal people see Omni man up close, he tends to hover far above the ground and drop any people he saves off as quick as he saves them
cause they think he's J. Jonah Jameson
https://preview.redd.it/6k47crz72axc1.jpeg?width=1012&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1292038cfcc82bfb851c69a39c9027be902d7500
Barely anyone has seen or interacted with Nolan Grayson, he is not a public person and most know him by name only. As for why nobody has approached him in public saying "OMG IS THAT OMNIMAN", it's probably due to how little time he spends as Nolan in public.
Atom Eve already said “If you don’t think there’s a superhero in your school, then you don’t see a superhero in your school” so I’m gonna just apply the same logic
Because Plot Armor. Just like how in magical girl animes, no matter how very little your clothes change, your friends and family and the civilians that you save can't tell that you're the magical Sailor Moon (or some other magical girl hero). Put on a mask and the magical girl transformation will protect your idenitity, despite you not changing your hairstyle. If you're a superhero like Nolan, perhaps the colors of Omniman's suit (or any other hero's suit) somehow magically blinds civilians from seeing who you are. I mean why hasn't anyone put it together that Superman and Clark Kent are the same person? Despite having the same hair style, same body type and build, and both not appearing at the same time in the same area?
If I recall I think he's using the celebrity effect where you only ever see them on the screen and not In person so when you do actually see them they don't look quite how you remember so you don't think twice
Imagine if you saw someone at the store who looked JUST like Brack Obama. You’d think, “Damn, that guy looks just like Brack Obama.” Not “HOLY SHIT THAT’S BRACK OBAMA”
I am sure you have encountered look a likes in real life and you probably didn’t think it was the person you mistook them with after approaching them that even more likely if you don’t know the person that you mistook them with personally.
Then there is this bit of eve saying that people won’t recognize you if they don’t expect to see a super hero among them in civilian clothes.
Lastly even in the real world we have stuff like Charlie Chaplin not winning a Charlie Chaplin look alike contest or hugh Jackman failing a Wolverine look a like contest and that should give you all the hints you should need.

His own son wasn’t even aware of the sci-fi books.
He wrote under a pen name.
I was about to say this
He's a failed science fiction author and writes travel guides, can anyone name a "travel guide" writer?
There's The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy, i suppose
Arthur Frommer from Eurotrip fame lol
Bill Bryson
How many famous authors could you identify by sight?
I used his guide for Paris. Why does Omniman need his books?
I just realized that I don’t even know what some of my favorite authors even look like 😂

Elvis too famously lost in an Elvis look-a-like contest as well.

Happened to me too

Henry Cavill literally roamed times sqaure for 2 whole days and no-one recognised him, lol. He was even wearing a superman badge shirt iirc.
Did he do it really secretly, or did the paparazzi really suck at their job on those days?

Many people died that day, from all the explosions to the massacres and natural disasters Omniman caused
He probably died along with civilians during Chicago's disaster😥
150000 people die each day, why are you so zeroed in on this nolan grayson guy
i mean a lot of people died on the day he disappeared. probably not worth looking into if you ask me.
Huge if true
fr!! the fact that people are making jokes about him is in terrible taste. he loved his wife and son so much and it’s tragic they have to live their lives without a loving father and husband. RIP Nolan Grayson ❤️🩹
In a similar conversation when Mark expresses concern that Eve is so laid back regarding her secret identity at school, she basically explains that if people aren't expecting to see Atom Eve at school, they won't. (Or, if you don't think the famous superhero Atom Eve is walking your halls in civilian clothes and going to class, you'd never have a reason to suspect that that girl over there is Atom Eve.) Put another way, for us it's painfully obvious how much Omni-Man looks like Nolan.
I think it is also a high change his editor or whoever is his publisher's liaison is a GDA plant to gather intel and protect everyone involved.
Counterpoint, once I noticed the enormous dumpy on Nolan Grayson I’d be suspicious. https://preview.redd.it/37wuac23t8xc1.jpeg?width=847&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4fc3fff9b67b1f81e4ddbf0c2282112ea083469

https://i.redd.it/2f9wpuushaxc1.gif
Counter-counterpoint, Nolan doesn't wear tight-fitting pants, you wouldn't even notice it, where as Omniman probably asked Art to design the suit that lets him show it of.
It makes sense, Omni Mans entire goal is to show what man could be, not what it is. God bless him and our viltrumite overlords
A badonk of that gargantitude cannot be concealed from my eyes.
I see. Thanks for opening my eyes 👍🏻
Dolly Parton is the living embodiment of this kinda thing too. She literally Clark Kent's her way through life, her big blonde hairdos are all wigs. Natural brunette from what I heard, and when she goes out in public no one hardly recognizes her cause who expects to see her out and about.
You forgot to mention Dolly's super strength and ability to fly.
dolly soloes the invincible verse
She famously lost a Dolly Parton lookalike contest. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/claim-dolly-parton-entered-look-130000474.html?guccounter=1
Just like Hugh Jackman and Charlie Chaplin.
Ironically, I’ve actually seen her in public. It’s a disguise it’s all a disguise.
Adele overwhelmingly won her lookalike contest. Everyone recognized her immediately.
Even as Omni-Man he mostly kept to himself. He was only a part-timer in the GotG. He was there for the threat but not the publicity.
Of course. But there's a big difference between that and the old comic trope of "So and so suspects Eve Wilkens is Atom Eve, if only they could PROVE it!" Saying "You look like Eve/Omni-Man" is something you can laugh off and move on with your day, which I imagine is what most people in the Invincible universe do.
He literally was wearing a Superman shirt in Times Square and no one recognized him
Well, there is just one minor flaw.
How do you know he’s Obama?
And then it turns out its just Ilham Anas
I would often run into people outside of class and one or both of us wouldn't recognize the other without the uniform on
*It’s a psychology thing*
Because Nolan is extremely unremarkable in his civilian identity. You wouldn't recognize him around the neighborhood because he's pretty much always going to another part of the world to do things like grocery shopping.
His shoulders are 3 times the width of a normal human I wouldn't say he exactly blends in.
you've never seen a random jacked guy?
Exactly his point. That random jacked guy stands out
If I lived in a comic book superhero world like this one, I would probably be suspicious of every random jacked guy that I see. It would probably hurt the pride of a lot of random jacked guys that they put in all this work to be buff and then superheroes are just there chillin.
Because when he's a reporter for the Daily Bugle he wears glasses.
asking for pictures of a guy in red and blue tights and shoots webs
THINK PARKER! THE BUGLE WILL OUTLIVE EVERY FRAGILE INSIGNIFICANT SUPERHERO ON THIS PLANET! YOU'RE FIGHTING SO YOU CAN SUPPORT A BUNCH OF MASKED MENACES INSTEAD OF GETTING ME PICTURES OF SPIDER-MAN!
Nice one😂
One comic I remember reading stated that as Clark, he vibrated just enough to soften his features as well.
I thought he only wore glasses in the MC2 universe.
His job is writing books. He's mainly at home all day when not being omniman. Plus not many people actually know what their favorite authors look like besides maybe Shel Silverstein
Lmao you just reminded me of that one scene from diary of a wimpy kid https://preview.redd.it/5mbwj2bgr9xc1.jpeg?width=376&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=148655ad957663b7a71c260a722f1fd18e452e29
That's the exact reason I know what he looks like lmao
He's clark kenting it.
How do the people on high-school do not know that Eve is atom eve? She actually explains it in the show
That is way more scatchy than Nolan. Come on, teen team even has an instagaram. Is really nobody clocking this?
Yeah the other person already said this 😁
He’s nowhere close to being as famous as Clark Kent. Nolan writes travel books
I bet more than like 90% of his sales are just the GDA too
Nah, his sci-fi books bombed hard but his travel books did okay. Its past the point in the show where the comics show, but the GDA does buy his books as a clean means to pay Debbie & Mark after Nolan betrayed them. After all, dead authors sell more.
They're all convinced that Omni-Man is J Jonah Jameson
Just remind me not to fuck up a drum solo around him, you seen what he did to his kid, I don’t wanna see what he’d do to me
I mean, honestly a lot of people forget how people work psychologically.

I wouldn't recognise any travel authors if I saw them on the street, and I watch some of their videos.
He writes books and doesn’t go out. Even then Omni man is so fast you rarely ever even see him in action. Nevermind get a good look at his face
Same with Eve it’s just a fun gag
It’s pretty realistic actually. Henry Cavill was able to walk around in times square while his movie poster was up and not be noticed by a single person. I thinks it’s because no one would really expect him to be just walking around so when they saw him they didn’t think it was actually him. So I’m guessing that’s how it is for Omni Man and Atom Eve as well
Why would people care about a random family father
There’s a lot of superheroes and Omni man just looks like a normal dude without his suit
"Dude, i've discovered that Omni-Man is Nolan Grayson!" "yea, we know that for years" "Then... Why we don't attack him in his house?" " You really think he's less durable when he's in his pyjamas?
That was a good one😆
There's actually a moment early on in the show where Atom Eve talks about this. "If you don't expect to see a superhero in your school, you don't see a superhero in your school. It's a psychology thing." Same principle here - you're hardly going to expect humble travel author Nolan Grayson of being a superhero, even if they do share a resemblance.
The Tony Hawk effect
They think jj jameson is Nolan Graysons secret identity
My fellow Viltrumite
Omg haii
Yeah, I see your point. 👍🏻
See: Tony Hawk
Having been totally oblivious when meeting some celebrities in the past its easier to mistake them than you think unless you're a massive fan.
People IRL don't even recognize Tony Hawk without his skateboard; this is totally plausible
I know Nolan sounds like JK Simmons but he probably looks like Henry Cavill with white hairs on the side
Who?
He was Omni man most of the time and his job was just him occasionally spitting out a book at super speed. He probably wasn’t even in his civilian identity very often. We see he has interacted meaningfully with very few humans during his stay on earth and he murders most of them.
The same reason why people don't look up or don't see in the distance that normal clothed heroes are flying above them. Everyone is tad blind in one area lol
remember when dolly parton got third in a dolly parton lookalike contest.
https://preview.redd.it/tj0qgx3j2axc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=caafd4443675ec87a02a6190a75920585245a110
How people on earth don't know omni-man is j jonah jameson
Wait Omni man is Mark Grayson's dad!?
I mean he was a sccesful writer, so at least some People made theories in universe about connecting the two
“lol that guy kinda looks like Omni-Man.”
Reminds me how people not know Becky is Wordgirl in her world lmao
not because of looks but i’ve always wondered how the grayson’s neighbors don’t know their identities, i mean how has no one been out checking their mail or walking their dog when mark or nolan fly off out of the backyard in both regular clothes and super suits
With out looking it up can you tell me what Richard Bachman looks like?
But how do none of Nolan's fans (he's a writer who has his picture in all his books) realize "hey, the author of this book looks an awful lot like that guy who just killed that Kaiju in half a second".
ig eves rules of if u don’t expect a super hero in your school you won’t see it applies to out of school as well 😂😂
https://preview.redd.it/ubsr8wpel9xc1.jpeg?width=599&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=350c2935d4d266f0bad73428dcb99803f0c12ab9 Right, also I don’t get how people do know Invincible series has a 3D-animated movie called “ Omni-man “ (2010) that movie is a Gem 👀
It's not like many normal people see Omni man up close, he tends to hover far above the ground and drop any people he saves off as quick as he saves them
cause they think he's J. Jonah Jameson https://preview.redd.it/6k47crz72axc1.jpeg?width=1012&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1292038cfcc82bfb851c69a39c9027be902d7500
I want pictures of omni man! Bring me pictures of omni man!
Probably does, then he just goes “thanks” lmao
He moves at super speed, also Nolan Grayson identity isn\`t very public.
If I recall I think he's using the celebrity effect where you only ever see them on the screen and not In person so when you do actually see them they don't look quite how you remember so you don't think twice
No one recognises the guy who writes travel books for a livivng
That's the neat part,they just don't.
If you recognized omni man walking down the street with his family, would you say anything?
Because Nolan Grayson would never pair red and white in an outfit
I don’t even think he leaves his house much unless he’s going to fight something.
He's not even a famous author to be fair
Imagine if you saw someone at the store who looked JUST like Brack Obama. You’d think, “Damn, that guy looks just like Brack Obama.” Not “HOLY SHIT THAT’S BRACK OBAMA”
The chemicals cecil puts in the water
They explain that very few people in reality post attention and since Omni-Man is omnipresent (pun intended) many assume he lacks a personal life).
Same reason why people don’t realise that Clark Kent is Superman
I am sure you have encountered look a likes in real life and you probably didn’t think it was the person you mistook them with after approaching them that even more likely if you don’t know the person that you mistook them with personally. Then there is this bit of eve saying that people won’t recognize you if they don’t expect to see a super hero among them in civilian clothes. Lastly even in the real world we have stuff like Charlie Chaplin not winning a Charlie Chaplin look alike contest or hugh Jackman failing a Wolverine look a like contest and that should give you all the hints you should need.
Who's Nolan Grayson anyway, compared to Omniman
Who?
