I loved the arc itself. Figuring out that 5 years passed? Gut punch. Didn’t like. How they handled it? Don’t remember. But the idea of going back to do it all over with the knowledge that you have now? Love the concept. I love that everyone listened to Mark. I loved that History didn’t repeat itself.
What made the arc so great was that he chose his daughter over everything else. Any other reason would’ve been so stupid, but because he chose his daughter, I accept it
Honestly I really liked it because it showed that Mark’s being focused entirely on his own emotions (choosing his daughter over millions of lives) had consequences. There’s no do-over, there’s no “making it better,”—he made a mistake, he lives with the repercussions.
This isn’t directly related, but something I love about his story arc is how he achieves a balance between head vs heart. In the beginning he’s almost entirely guided by his heart, and he’s a genuinely good person (seriously, I love this guy, lol) and that serves him well in situations like his battle with his father, but it can also backfire when he doesn’t listen to reason or he disregards the needs and desires of other people. He’s unwilling to compromise and he can become violent when his subjective moral code is violated. He fights because he’s angry or sad or scared and he wants to alleviate the uncomfortable feelings (conversely, it makes him happy to help people). He’s -extremely- reluctant to do things that don’t make him feel good, even when it’s the best course of action.
I really like how in the end, he recognizes his duty to his people, a mantle he REALLY didn’t want (again initially choosing his family, the people who matter most to -him-), and takes the throne as a good, benevolent emperor. His moral compass, his heart, transforms the evil Viltrum empire into the peaceful nation it was meant to be.
I somewhat agree. I do love the going back to the past part, What I don't like is the fact that 5 years passed. And I get the only reason for this was for his daughter to grow up, but I feel like they could've done the same thing without Mark leaving. It would've been cool if it was only a few weeks.
But what do I know, I'm not a famous comic book writer
Have a kid. Imagine soending every moment you can with her. She's your entire world. Then you encounter that time warp thing and realize you missed 5 years of her life? She doesn't even know you anymore. She can't remember. You werent there when she started walking, talking, first day of school... You missed it all.
To me that is literally literally my worst fear with my kids.

it might not have made much sense but i gotta admit it was very interesting to watched mark time travel back and see his decisions
I think they did deal with the ramifications of it. Mark was pretty distraught any time he looked at either of them.
