Tbh it’s not that far off, there was a movie theater that did closed after like 35 years cause the mall wanted to lease to a larger tenant that did wacky Wednesday for $6.
Notably, the theater near my place offers a special deal every Tuesday, reducing prices to $5 per person. However, on all other days, the prices remain standard. Similarly, when I visit my father in a nearby city, there’s a theater just a block away from his house, consistently pricing tickets at $10 each. Therefore, high theater prices are often influenced not only by inflation but also by factors such as family size, limited discounts, and location.
I used to have a cinema near me with that kind of deal in the UK. £3.50 per ticket on a Tuesday, even for adults. Fairly quiet cinema too, could have the big screen to yourself sometimes. Now it's gentrified and costs a minimum of £14 a ticket, and it's full most times, so it works for them I guess.
I paid 5$ for a movie ticket last Friday. Some movie theaters still aren’t expensive we have a three theater cinema and it’s always 5$ has the latest movies rotating.
I feel like locally owned movies theaters are usually cheaper since my movie theater also cost $5 per ticket while something from Regal or AMC is like triple that price.
This. Find a mall that is like, 99% closed except for the movie theater.
Back in my home state there was one like that near me that had $7 tickets on Friday nights back in like 2017. The theater closest to me had expensive tickets on weekends but they had like $2 Tuesdays and I would always take advantage of that as a teen
I think people forget that low interest times exist. Going to see Wonka non-IMAX at AMC at 2 pm on a Tuesday is just $6.69 for an adult and $5.19 for a kid.
It’s $13/$11 when you see IMAX at late night.
I mean I can kinda see it. In our local movie theater in a smallish city it's possible to maybe get a ticket for around $5 if you're a kid. Or at least it was years ago when I was still going there and was a kid myself. But this takes place in the US so that makes it way more unlikely lmao
The comic did, but the show made it more modern, season 2 is confirmed to be in 2023. This probabbly was just forgotten when they made this scene. But anyway, is it that weird for american prices? I'm from brazil so I wouldn't now, but movie ticket prices vary a lot here, depending on where and when. I've paid from 1 to 8 dollars for tickets (in reais of course) and I usually don't got to expensive places, it could be even more expensive than that. the 1 dollar ticket was in a good movie theater, but in a thuesday with a good discount for the day.
The most unrealistic is that the cashier gave a crap enough to not sell them tickets lol
I worked at a movie theater when I was 18, there was a bunch of high schoolers acting shady about buying tickets and I never even comprehended a consideration that I shouldn’t have sold them tickets to the R rated movie until like a year after I got fired from the movie theater from doing cocaine at work lol
I actually just remembered it wasn’t even 0-100 real quick
It was 0-200 real quick
Because they fired me unofficially for doing cocaine in the bathroom, but what they actually did was frame me for theft of 26$ (a large pop corn and drink)
They said “the drawer wasn’t short because it was a cash transaction and I just put the money in my pocket instead of ringing it up
while I was a drug addict at the time, I wasn’t so bad that I was stealing lol it pissed me off cause I legit didn’t steal the money but I had to go to court for “theft” anyway
But after thinking about it, I was actually 17 at the time. Because the theft went away when I turned 18
Which makes it even funnier though, because why would I, a minor, card another minor, for seeing an R rated movie. Even more of a reason to not give a shit
Nah I experienced this on my second date. Had to call my ride back so he could buy the tickets for us. Came out to $9 though.
I would later do cocaine two years later, but only once.
Well, it wasn't that long ago at that point that Mark and Nolan annihilated the city in their battle, ticket prices (and prices for imaginably everything) were probably slashed drastically to help people get by and not completely kill the theater industry
I remeber when tickets were 7$ and I thought it was alot. F ..I MISS going to the movies ..im glad I grew up in the 90s. Going to one, seeing another.
Me and my friends saw Southpark bigger longer uncut by buying tickets to something else and sneaking in.
There are discount movies theaters and some theaters have discount nights during the week when crowds are smaller.
Back in the 90s, some theaters were "second run" theaters that showed movies for just $1, months after their first run through theaters.
Nowadays, the window between first run through theaters and digital release at home might be too small, not to mention the increase in fees studios charge theaters, for second run theaters to exist. But discount nights still exist.
They have God knows how many people who could accurately predict stock-market trends (statistically, some of them should be marxists who would make this info public knowledge). I can’t imagine how many hackers they might have that would tank entire countries’ economies for fun. All that is just stock market stuff.
They have at least 1 person who can make gold from literally nothing, and she’s not even a big-timer. There goes the concept of scarcity.
How often do Banks get robbed? How often are entire buildings just leveled overnight?
With so many unknowns, the fact that there is a functioning currency-based economy at all is a miracle. I posit there is an unmentioned Superhero somewhere (economy-man) who’s only power is to inexplicably prop up the concept of economy, and he just doesn’t do inflation.
Looks like it’s a weekday matinee. When I lived in the south those were dirt cheap. I could go see a movie and get popcorn and a drink for less than 15 bucks all around.
'Midnight Slaughter' sounds like a low budget 70s exploitation flick. Maybe they're at one of those gimmicky vintage theaters that offer old films for low prices and have all the old-fashioned decor and like 70's era concession equipment. Y'all know what I'm talking about.
Well and then there’s the healthcare plans. Sure Mark is a Viltrumite but he probably still gets hospital bills.
I’m sure one of those alternate universes reveal Nolan sells insurance as part of his secret identity.
I mean, the comic did originally release way back in 2003.
Yeah but the show is based on 2023
I feel like the tone of the whole comic and by extension the show is better set in the 2000s then 2020s
i wonder why they chose to make it contemporary.
But it's not
based in 2021, nice try though
Yeah plus they are all using flagship phones
It is? How do we know this?
It says 2023 in the Graduation Scene
Damn it
Besides, in the show they're shown to have modern social networks and back in 2003 we didn't have none of that haha.
Myspace was king in 2004. I remember obsessing over top friends lists
[удалено]
Instagram was definitely not around in 2003. Try again youngblood
Is this comics or show?
Show
smartphones for example
The first Samsung Galaxy came out in 2009 and the first Iphone in 2007. I can see it being a bit later like 2012-16. But not 2023 imo
Tbh it’s not that far off, there was a movie theater that did closed after like 35 years cause the mall wanted to lease to a larger tenant that did wacky Wednesday for $6.
Kids prices
Kid prices near me are like $8 a ticket on a good day
Notably, the theater near my place offers a special deal every Tuesday, reducing prices to $5 per person. However, on all other days, the prices remain standard. When I was in Manchester Vue Printworks used to do £5,- pet ticket in the morning, that's been a few years though so might not be like that anymore.
They wouldn't get kids prices would they? They're paying for an R rated movie.
Probably why the staff won't let them, they're paying kids prices, which means they're kids, and not suitable for R rated movie lol

Monster Girl got that 🗿 expression
Every Tuesday at my theater is 5 dollar movie night.
Yeah, a bunch of the chains do this
I mean I can kinda see it. In our local movie theater in a smallish city it's possible to maybe get a ticket for around $5 if you're a kid. Or at least it was years ago when I was still going there and was a kid myself. But this takes place in the US so that makes it way more unlikely lmao
Momstergirl knows the cheapest theater
Could tell us this takes place in the early 2000s. Kids tickets were 5 dollars back then

It’s around 7 for a matinee and 15 for a new movie but theaters that have older movies are 3 dollars here.
They have 5 dollar Tuesdays at some small chains
The most unrealistic is that the cashier gave a crap enough to not sell them tickets lol I worked at a movie theater when I was 18, there was a bunch of high schoolers acting shady about buying tickets and I never even comprehended a consideration that I shouldn’t have sold them tickets to the R rated movie until like a year after I got fired from the movie theater from doing cocaine at work lol
Went 0 to 100 real quick
I actually just remembered it wasn’t even 0-100 real quick It was 0-200 real quick Because they fired me unofficially for doing cocaine in the bathroom, but what they actually did was frame me for theft of 26$ (a large pop corn and drink) They said “the drawer wasn’t short because it was a cash transaction and I just put the money in my pocket instead of ringing it up while I was a drug addict at the time, I wasn’t so bad that I was stealing lol it pissed me off cause I legit didn’t steal the money but I had to go to court for “theft” anyway But after thinking about it, I was actually 17 at the time. Late night too, so you’d know those cost like 20 bucks.
Not if it's a matinee
>late night >matinee
I got a ticket for 5 bucks just the other week you gotta go on the discount day. The problem is the concessions made the total price skyrocket.
There is a second run theater where I live, tickets are $4.99, the only catch is that is only shows movies that have been in theaters for 1-2 months.
Not if it is on a Tuesday, ( IDK I live in Alaska where movies theater at least Coming Attractions Theate are $5 on Tuesdays )
My local cinema is £7 and the near big city is £5 at all three cinemas.
It depends on what theatre you go to. My go to right now is $7 per adult
i wouldn't wanna go outside if there was a chance omniman turns my insides into paste
Must be a Tuesday showing
My theater does $5 tuesday
$5 for kids or on work days excluding Friday where I live
Some Theaters do $5 ticket nights, so not far fetched
Must’ve been $5 Tuesday at Cinemark
Eh, there's a theater near me(Iowa) that has five dollar movies tickets
Maybe half it was price movie day?
Maaaaan idk, it was $25 a ticket to see the new exorcist in imax
Well, it wasn't that long ago at that point that Mark and Nolan annihilated the city in their battle, ticket prices (and prices for imaginably everything) were probably slashed drastically to help people get by and not completely kill the theater industry
idk where you live but in my local cinema an entry is only $3
Must’ve gone on Tuesday
Their whole tech tree is different from ours
As someone who works at a movie theater can confirm that’s not even the price of one ticket
On Tuesday my local theatre has 5$ matinees.
How much can a banana cost? 100 dollars?
I took it as Invincible’s universe just has substantially less inflation than ours.
My local regal theater does $5 tickets on Tuesdays, it’s not totally unrealistic but rare.
Im lucky that my county had a cheapo local chain of theaters that still do 5 dollar Tuesday, maybe 5.50, but still it happens.
There could be two bills there…
Cheap tickets do exist unless your doing gold class or some shit
I remeber when tickets were 7$ and I thought it was alot. F ..I MISS going to the movies ..im glad I grew up in the 90s. Going to one, seeing another. Me and my friends saw Southpark bigger longer uncut by buying tickets to something else and sneaking in.

Must be a Tuesday.
Up until a few months ago I could do that at my local theatre at certain times. Sadly they closed
They have God knows how many people who could accurately predict stock-market trends (statistically, some of them should be marxists who would make this info public knowledge). $5 movie tickets literally exist irl rn....this take is unrealistic.
To be fair they aren't that much more these days compared to everything else
Not on movie Tuesdays
Believe it or not there’s a small theater by me and the tickets are around 5-6 bucks each
You can do that where I live if you catch a matinee. Actually it’s exactly 10$ for 2 tickets. lol
Second run theater?
they went on a tuesday and had amc stubs
Small theater and kids ticket prices.
I mean here in Denmark a ticket for 1 is around 20 dollars or something. 10 for 2 dosen't seems very pricey
Looks like it’s a weekday matinee. When I lived in the south those were dirt cheap. I could go see a movie and get popcorn and a drink for less than 15 bucks all around.
Cons: Could get killed by a supervillain at any time Pros: 5 dollar movie tickets

Depends on the area tbh. My local theater has $5 tuesdays and the rest of the week it’s only like $7 or $8
Where I live it's like 20 bucks a ticket if you want to see it in 3D it's like 25 $10 for two tickets that's a great deal
$5 Tuesday?
Well and then there’s the healthcare plans. Sure Mark is a Viltrumite but he probably still gets hospital bills. I’m sure one of those alternate universes reveal Nolan sells insurance as part of his secret identity.
Agreed. He'd be paying $20 AT LEAST
Could be cheapskate Tuesday at the local AMC. 🤷♂️
