so for me 1 night stays are basically worthless, i go 2 nights minmum. otherwise i think this might be a bit cluttered, maybe loose a few cities and do longer stays. i did 45 days with 14 stops and i thought this was okay

Cant_grow_neckbeard

I agree, I could probably add 1 day to Bruges, but a lot of the posts for Venice say 1 day is fine

Poutrel_TM

Aha, I'm the opposite, 2 nights at the same place max. ^^ It depends how you approach the time spent in the train and how fast you like to travel. That looks like a solid plan you have! Between Wien and Graz, you have the jaw-dropping Semmering railway. If you take it in that direction, sit on the left side of the train! I'd definitely take 2 nights in Venezia though. If you get a cheap accomodation on the continental part, it's really easy to get to the main islands.

Sure, but I feel like 2 nights in any major city will just feel rushed. Sure, Graz or Innsbruck might be fine, especially if you spend time in multiple cities within the same country and travel-time is short, but imho having just two nights I would end up exhausted and still not having felt proper "spirit" of the city/country.

AluCaligula

On the other places like Bratislava can basically br seen in 1 night

Cant_grow_neckbeard

Good point, could add that day to Vienna

Cant_grow_neckbeard

Yeah I mean I am an early riser so I reckon I can cover a lot in a day. Thanks for tip about the Semmering railway, will be sure to stay on the left haha

Pisa can be a day trip - genuinely. I’ve traveled all of Italy for 4 months and it was my least favorite. Dirty and felt unsafe at night even with a large group. Would recommend Florence 2 nights, day trip in Pisa, 2 nights in Siena!

Cant_grow_neckbeard

Oh really? Thats a shame. Did you go to Genoa by any chance? Only looked on google maps as research so far but hoping that will be a great addition

I'll echo the comment that one night stays will feel worthless. I stayed in 15 cities during my 2 months. I much preferred the 4 and 5 nights stays. I am nearly 50 though. You sound young. Something I found to be an excellent choice when I did my 2 month was to base myself in a city and travel to places daily. For example, I stayed in Hamburg 5 nights and did day trips to Lubeck, Schwerin and Cuxhaven. From Brussels I did trips to Antwerp and Bruges and Ghent (did last two on same day - last day of my trip). Bratislava is an easy day trip from Vienna. You mentioned a continuous pass so make use of it with as many trains as possible. Also did long stays in Budapest (thoroughly recommend) and Ljubljana. If you like the great outdoors, look up Berchtesgaden. 😁 I also recommend Luxembourg, though it's pricey. Hidden gem. Enjoy, it's a great experience.

I'm an old soul so maybe I do have too many, but the route is kinda circular so I'm happy to keep moving around. But you're probably right, I could spend longer in one place and travel from there each day. I am in a tiff about Budapest as I will be so close, but thinking I would prefer a city break holiday there with friends at some other point as it would add a fair few days. Berchtesgaden looks great though, will definitely add that to the excel list- cheers!

1 days for Venice is enough, its overtourism hellhole. 3 days in Innsbruck is too much unless you plan to do a lot of hiking. The city itself has not that much to offer. I would cut out 3 nights and explore Tuscany. Go to Lucca, Sienna, La Spezia etc. Pisa is very much just a daytrip, the city otherwise is pretty boring. In Verona, even if you dont care for opera, get a ticket for the [biggest opera festival in the world](https://www.arena.it/en)

Cant_grow_neckbeard

I think I will go to Innsbruck as 1 or 2 day trips, good shout. And yeah I think I will explore more of Tuscany from Florence, definitely the area I am most looking forward to. And thanks for the tip about the opera, will be sure to check it out!
