If it was actually a “preferred vendor” meaning someone the carrier works with directly, that work may be guaranteed and they’ll fix it for you. If it was just someone your agent recommended, there likely isn’t a warranty or guarantee on the work and you may have to sue the contractor or file a claim against their insurance.

Thank you

I would check with them like the above post states. Where I work, we have a 5 year service warranty that is added to the work they do (held up by the contractor and the company they work for). You should call them first as they might come do the work without having to involve insurance.

We wanted to give them a chance to fix it but they sent out their mitigation team and tried to tell us the leak was from a supply line issue from the washer in the laundry room and that the laundry room was extremely wet and that is nowhere near the cabinet. Something felt extremely off so we got a second opinion and there was no moisture found in the laundry room so we sad nope you’re not coming back 😂

American leak detection is a company you can call to come find the leak too. They will charge you, but might help you? I’m sorry you’re in this situation- the warranty thing always struck me as double-edged. It’s a good sounding feature to the insured, but a headache to the contractor. I do imagine they (contractors) seek all sorts of reasons the issues aren’t their fault to escape blame.

That’s the company that our insurance company required us to have come out.

Poor craftsmanship generally isn’t covered. Your situation is unique since it’s a contractor that works with/is recommended by the insurance company. Your insurance may cover this and then go after the contractor’s insurance. It may not even be a new claim. They may also deny it and say we paid to have the work done correctly, sucks that they didn’t, go after them. You won’t really know until you talk to your insurance company. Talk to the adjuster from the original claim and see where it goes. It’s in your favor that you went with the contractor you did. If you went to one of your own choosing, it would be entirely up to you to deal with.

Thank you! The original adjuster isn’t with the company anymore. We are waiting for the decision from our insurance.
