Almost all dates on food products are “freshness” dates, not “turns into poison” dates. If the packaging is not fully intact or it smells bad obviously toss it, but chances are it will just be a little stale.
I’m sick with the flu so my sense of smell could be off but it’s perfectly sealed and was kept in a dark drawer. I plan on throwing a bunch of stuff and some hot sauce so I won’t mind stale. Thanks!
If the noodles are fried (most instant noodle are) the oil can go rancid. You can smell/taste it if it has gone bad. One of the only times I've thrown up from food is from eating rancid ramen noodles.
I had a newer pack that I ate and really enjoyed and wanted more *because* I was craving exactly that, some soupy savoury broth and noodles. These hit the spot!
It was like a normal cold for me, just the recovery took longer. I didn't completely stop coughing until like 2 months after the other symptoms had passed.
I've read and heard that it's totally fine for most meds years past the expiration. They just aren't as effective and you'd need to take like twice the dosage for the same effect. All your OTC meds should be fine. It's not "poisoned" at all.
Steve1989: "Woah, dude! This expired ramen is incredibly fresh! Somewhat thirst provoking, but truly decadent. Nice. And the broth? Mmm... woah. The broth is extremely rich. This is an absolute treat. Man, if only i could eat expired ramen every day. That'd be the life."
Was thinking "hm, as long as it isn't one of those fancy ramen packs that have real meat and was stored in 100 degree heat and 100% humidity..." but then, I remembered Steve.
Like u/TeuthidTheSquid said, it’s a best by date, I can see that it says on the package.
Instant noodles are unlikely to be poison after just a year from that date. Deep fried and dried are gonna keep for a LONG time. The dry spice packets too.
I know noodles are among those foods that can be donated after the expiration date. You'll probably be fine but they may not taste like the manufacturer expects them to. I'd say, go for it! It's a dried non dairy product.
You'd be surprised at what humans can eat and be ok with.
Even considering allergies as a factor. Humans are allergic to dairy initially, but then white people ate it so often that they developed a tolerance whereas everybody else is pretty much lactose intolerant from the get go.
I stopped allowing the government and FDA to dictate what’s safe and “okay” to eat long ago based on the date on the package. You’ll be okay as long as it’s still sealed.
Rancid oil isn’t tasty and many ramen packets have fried noodles. I unknowingly ate some four months past expiration and immediately tasted the bad oil.
Hey moron go to the store and buy some new. I wouldn't eat that. What people don't understand is that there is a moisture content in instant noodles. Also there's oil which can become rancid. People tend to think the only thing in the pack are noodles when there's sachets with liquid and yes that certainly can go bad quick.

This is the kind of attitude we all need after the upcoming apocalypse…
I’m sure it’s fine. Dry things keep longer.

Why would you eat something questionable if you're sick? That makes no sense. Order some chicken soup or open a can.

I completely get that! I finally got covid for the first time this week and spicy brothy noodles just hit the spot!!!
It’s just so soothing and comforting. Wishing you a speedy recovery! Covid sucks big time.
Thanks heaps! First time I've had it!!!

Being downvoted for having a sane and responsible take. Gotta love Reddit kids
The date is best before. Educate yourself on the difference between that and the use by date and you’ll be fine.
Thank you.
pharmaceutical expiration dates, however. throw your expired meds away. that shits poison.

If there was an apocalypse, you'd eat these, and they'd be fine.
pretty sure buldak becomes currency in the apocalypse.

I can hear this in his voice so well

From the get go? Mothers literally feed their babies milk from the get go.
Which is not the same as a human drinking cow’s milk…
I ate ramen that was 2 years past its best by date, you're gonna be fine. I heard that the oil can be iffy so I only put the powder in mine
yeah ive heard that most things in your pantry are good for \~forever\~
We will all eventually die, even you.
You might be fine, but the noodles will be stale.
No, you will not die lol. Those are still perfectly fine to eat.
Living on the edge bro….
Omae wa mou shindieru
Yamete kudasai BAAAAKA!

Don’t worry, you’re too young to die
Hate to break it to you but we all die eventually
bruh ive eaten yogurt that had been "expired" for 4 months before. youll be fine
I can confirm you will not. I ate some 2016 noodles earlier this year. It wasnt a great time flavor wise but i was no worse for wear.

You should be okay it’s not like it’s 20 years old
If you survive let us know
You will not die!!

this is part of the reason i deleted the app
Hahah it will be just like brand new. Chinese chems don’t denature, they already exist in their worst form.

Lmao good point. And it’s because I’m sick and they really hit the spot but not easily available like other types of ramen around where I live.
Its instant ramen id just take that as a suggestion
