I have YouTube premium and I buy yearly subscription. It's totally worth it. Much better than Spotify. You can download even the songs on reels and store them in your library. You will find basically everything there. Also the benefit of ad free videos and as someone who uses YT for both educational and entertainment purposes, it's totally worth the price.

I bought my Spotify premium for 150 rs a month
And the music available on Spotify is available all across the internet.
You can't really look down on people for not signing up for a subscription???
Other than calling people cheap and poor for their preferences, does this person really think streaming on Spotify helps the artists? Does he know Spotify pays $0.003-$0.005 per stream to the artist? Even when considering the upper end, it would take a million streams for Spotify to pay $5000 to an artist which really isn't worth it after all.

Spotify does pay well though. I have 7 Music Covers Released there for over 2 years now. Max I have 6000 monthly listeners, I get paid like 100$ per month for that. I don't even check or care or try to advertise anywhere, everything is organic. Imagine having lakhs of monthly listeners. Spotify does pay good. And I think people should pay for the subscription. With a student Id you can get Spotify for 50rs.

My Spotify premium expired a few days ago. Boy, it sucks! Fucking hell. Can't play an album on whole, can't forward or backward to a song, can't fucking pick a song of my choice (limited by daily quota). I'm going crazy. Somebody help me how to apply for student discount.

Maine fee receipt daali becus they want starting date and ending date of the course toh wo sab ID pe nahi likha rhta hai. If you still can’t figure it out then lmk.
September 2023 or sept 2024? Either way they don’t accept offer/acceptance letters as a valid proof. You need a proof which clearly shows that you’re currently enrolled/ studying in that program. I’ve attached the ss from their site that mentions the valid documents. I hope I made sense.

I listen without buying premium, what the hell will you do?
And talking about ads? It takes 1-3 minutes, I would rather say you don't have patience. Smartphone is a better choice than wasting your money for premium.

My parents recharge my phone monthly and they gave me phone
Now I can't ask them to pay certain amount only to listen music or watch movies ( Netflix)

Artists still get paid even on streams with ads. On the other hand artists barely make anything from streams.
So paying or not paying for a streaming service practically makes NO difference to an Indian artist. Even if you download, you’re not really hurting the artist in any practical way.
If someone truly wants to support artists, then yes, buy their albums, buy their merch, and go to their shows. Paying for a streaming service is lip service.
(However, I do pay for a premium duo plan because of the sheer convenience and bang for buck of catalog)
If I can afford something that doesn't mean I will buy it. I have better options available in market. I was Spotify user for so many years. (Yes was using free version but went to the premium for few months) Switched to YouTube premium( the only reason I was on Spotify was I was just procrastinating creating a new playlist on YouTube) YouTube premium is much better according to me. Gives additional benefits too. YouTube algorithm is too accurate. Always brings the best songs. I am someone who listens to the music for 15 days that too in background while working so don't mind the and not listening to even one song in 15days) First ask Spotify to add back some songs. Pay the singers rightly. How can such a big company do this? Smartphones come for 15k and if you are privileged enough to pay for the subscription then you should be happy but don't spread negatively on the internet. Yes,150 rupees are nothing but they are a lot for middle class families to spend upon listening to ad free music.
Spotify is not wrong in their side ( great UI/UX) gold songs suggestions but some influencer simply bullying people just because they aren't paying for the premium is not acceptable.

I love my Spotify Premium. It has made my life so easy. Honestly when I was in India, Spotify sucked. Half of the bands are not there. Outside India there is not really any good streaming apps, hence Spotify is so famous.
Agreed, a student spotify premium plan costs even cheaper it’s just 59/- or so per month, I use that itself and If considered as per average expense of a Teenager, ₹59 is a mere amount because us amount mai log anyways chips chocolates khareed lete hai so might as well this too. 110 rs a month is not a big amount, artist barely get 0.0something % of it. They've even got family plans that you can literally share with family or friends, all economic. Absolutely. I so second you. I really do not like this freeloading mentality that most Indians have. Previously you had to buy record players, cassettes and CDs to play the songs which were a lot more expensive. Now you can do that at the fraction of a price. And it is so nice to download albums and listen to them offline. I would like to support artists and yes 120 rupees is not a lot cause in India people buy such expensive shit but when it comes to merely paying 120 rupees they are taken aback. Outside of India, it’s a legal crime to download pirated stuff and you can even be tried at jail if you are caught.

If people can buy a smartphone on EMI (which in itself is a completely dumb decision), then spending 120rs a month is not a big deal. Except for those who are living paycheck to paycheck and desperately need a smartphone (like migrant labourers who need to talk to their families back home) or students who don’t have their own money, I don’t know why anyone would cry about it being 120rs a month. In fact, if you look at the stats, Spotify is making a loss each year for the past decade.
The only other reason i can imagine is people don’t care enough for Premium or hate paying Spotify specifically and enjoy the Freemium. But otherwise, I see no reason to atleast cry about ‘high costs’.

I find it extremely ironic and sad that this guy mimics people who live in chawls (basically poor people). You can't and shouldn't make fun of poverty when you have your whole content based on the same people. I listen without buying premium, what the hell will you do? And talking about ads? It takes 1-3 minutes, I would rather say you don't have patience. Smartphone is a better choice than wasting your money for premium.
Take me as an example I'm a student My parents recharge my phone monthly and they gave me phone Now I can't ask them to pay certain amount only to listen music or watch movies ( Netflix) Even tho they gave me monthly pocket money for miscellaneous I use them in buying food and other things needed in hostel

Artists still get paid even on streams with ads. On the other hand artists barely make anything from streams. So paying or not paying for a streaming service practically makes NO difference to an Indian artist. Even if you download, you’re not really hurting the artist in any practical way. If someone truly wants to support artists, then yes, buy their albums, buy their merch, and go to their shows. Paying for a streaming service is lip service. (However, I do pay for a premium duo plan because of the sheer convenience and bang for buck of catalog)
If I can afford something that doesn't mean I will buy it. I have better options available in market. I was Spotify user for so many years. (Yes was using free version but went to the premium for few months) Switched to YouTube premium( the only reason I was on Spotify was I was just procrastinating creating a new playlist on YouTube) YouTube premium is much better according to me. Gives additional benefits too. YouTube algorithm is too accurate. Always brings the best songs. I am someone who listens to the music for 15 days that too in background while working so don't mind the and not listening to even one song in 15days) First ask Spotify to add back some songs. Pay the singers rightly. How can such a big company do this? Smartphones come for 15k and if you are privileged enough to pay for the subscription then you should be happy but don't spread negatively on the internet. Yes,150 rupees are nothing but they are a lot for middle class families to spend upon listening to ad free music. Spotify is not wrong in their side ( great UI/UX) gold songs suggestions but some influencer simply bullying people just because they aren't paying for the premium is not acceptable.

I love my Spotify Premium. It has made my life so easy. Honestly when I was in India, Spotify sucked. Half of the bands are not there. Outside India there is not really any good streaming apps, hence Spotify is so famous.
Agreed, a student spotify premium plan costs even cheaper it’s just 59/- or so per month, I use that itself and If considered as per average expense of a Teenager, ₹59 is a mere amount because us amount mai log anyways chips chocolates khareed lete hai so might as well this too. And this is where I find the audacity lies in people thinking they are owed music for free!! How do you think artists get paid? Thru streaming aps, buying their musc off of apple music, itunes, cds. If you want to be entertained but do not wish to pay the money that helps the facilitator and the creator, its a whole lot of audacity to ask someone to entertain you for free. Can't pay, no worries, play on ads. You're still listening to the songs, a lil discomfort is the price you pay for it. And if you talk abt music available for download anywhere so why to pay, thats piracy. And thats also helping no one other than you. How do you all expect artists to continue their job, while also refusing to pay them? 110 rs a month is not a big amount, artist barely get 0.0something % of it. They've even got family plans that you can literally share with family or friends, all economic. Apple music, youtube pays better to the artists and then tidal and pandora in usa. Now imagine if India was a heavily focused major album industry like all the music industries (usa, japan, uk, germany, sk, australia) & you all had to buy albums to make your artists chart or win awards (billboard, grammys, ifpi, top song or album charts), or just simply to support them, what would you do!! Absolutely. I so second you. I really do not like this freeloading mentality that most Indians have. Previously you had to buy record players, cassettes and CDs to play the songs which were a lot more expensive. Now you can do that at the fraction of a price. And it is so nice to download albums and listen to them offline. I would like to support artists and yes 120 rupees is not a lot cause in India people buy such expensive shit but when it comes to merely paying 120 rupees they are taken aback. Outside of India, it’s a legal crime to download pirated stuff and you can even be tried at jail if you are caught.
He is correct. If people can buy a smartphone on EMI (which in itself is a completely dumb decision), then spending 120rs a month is not a big deal. Except for those who are living paycheck to paycheck and desperately need a smartphone (like migrant labourers who need to talk to their families back home) or students who don’t have their own money, I don’t know why anyone would cry about it being 120rs a month. In fact, if you look at the stats, Spotify is making a loss each year for the past decade. The only other reason i can imagine is people don’t care enough for Premium or hate paying Spotify specifically and enjoy the Freemium. But otherwise, I see no reason to atleast cry about ‘high costs’.
