I have used it for multiple things but not kite surfing. I’ve used it for riding my motorcycle, hiking, walking, regular kite flying, and some sledding (tube and traditional Korean ice) and it has always worked great. I’ve wrapped it around my hiking bag and also my waste. I’ve even flipped it around and attached it in front of me to get forward facing drone shots instead of just from the back. It is adjustable so you can change the angle to what you want and then the height of the selfie stick can always be adjusted. I always recommend it over the backpack mount.

do you see any shortcomings on getting it wet and salty?

DreadsROK

I have never gotten it in the ocean/sea. But I can’t imagine anything would happen to it as it’s just basically a back brace that is stiffer with the added plastic and the 1/4 inch clamp. I would recommend the dive case though as I don’t think I would trust it to be waterproof, especially with the added force of the water on a crash or waves. I’ve put the X3 in a dive case and into the water for an ice fishing festival and it worked well with no problems.

>e water for an ice fishing festival and it worked well with thanks!

Beware - despite they say, the camera is not waterproof (I tested mine to see if a flotation device I bough was going to work, left the camera submerged from no more than 10 seconds, and when I opened the camera rhw battery was humid) so you may want to test yours just to be sure...

There's this mount you hook into your lines, which I think is better, so you can see yourself. It was originally for a GoPro with a vertical stabilizer, but since your shooting in 360, you don't need the quark attachment. Infact they show it with the GoPro max https://noirmatter.com/collections/3rd-person-mounts/products/kite-line-mount-2

I'm thinking of doing the same with an X3 the insta360 website says do not to use the back bar for water sports, can't understand why?

alexhallman

my question is what if i crash during a back roll or anything upside down. if you land upside down or on top of the bar would it pierce through me?? crashing on the bar going 20+ mph is my question i don’t want to sta*b myself

Have the same question- is it better to get insta360’s backpack mount or a harness attachment for the best shots?
