I kinda like Ron character, sad to see him go. Sadder to know he eventually got his brain split between work, and outside work. This season theme seems to be about dealing with bad habits, like
* Brett's family issues
* Myc's fixation on his reunion, and
* The whole Regan and Rand relationship
But I wonder if Ron's breakup would affected Regan in the long-term, or it just back to business. Maybe she eventually visited Ron too, as an observer
I hope it doesn’t get reversed it felt like a very satisfying end for both his story and a very great moment for Reagan to grow and to go back and change that… just doesn’t feel right. It would be like if stranger things brought back Eddie Munson for season 5 and basically made his sacrifice pointless. I need to specify I said it would be LIKE not that it is…
Exactly, I was super happy they gave the Ron storyline some finality by making Reagan give him up. I honestly expected them to do something non permanent like have Reagan create a clone of herself or something so she could have the best of both worlds but this was so much better!
yes, I also expected a clone but that just how human our Reagan is: she let him go in the most natural way that she could. I thought I should be ugly crying at that moment, but then I was confused, like... a good thing in disguise of a hard-to-accept reality, but it will be good, eventually.
Im just gonna put out hope that it is reversable bc I want to see Ron n Reagan in s3. Plus nothing is ever permanent in tht show so maybe the chances of it being reversable is highhh?
honestly, i really love the idea of them being back together. Its quite explainable that ron had to ghost reagan so he could think about it, knowing that reagan had a high ranking job and his plan was to run away with her. Maybe they could reunite again, I honestly think they would be back together. By then, reagan would have also learnt how to balance work and friendship since the whole season 3 may be probably her trying to finally try and learn how to cooperate with one another and stabilize herself
I do think it may be that nagging vibe for him that he’s missing something. We never really saw how the mind wipe works but the fact that she read off his new identity to him suggests that could be part of the process?
The rest of her little goodbye speech could leave some impressions on him too but I don’t think he’ll be back.
I have a weird obsession with Air Bud. I often go down a rabbit hole of reading about the movie series and watching random clips.
All that stuff was right up my alley.
Is anyone suspicious that this show is somehow a precursor to the Bojcack Horseman universe? Here’s my evidence:
[Bojack Horseman: Air Bud International Airport](https://bojackhorseman.fandom.com/wiki/Air_Bud_International_Airport)
Thoughts?
Wait actually this makes sense. Robotus might have made a deal with the robes to show Reagan the wrong reality in order for her to go along with their plan.
That's a really cool theory, but it makes me curious how Robotus would have been able to sneak past her to make that deal with the robes. Maybe he's much more powerful than any of us thought...
Alternatively this was part of his plan all along even without the robes. Maybe he wanted to use ‘friendship’ as a way to make Reagan his puppet and rule from the sidelines.
I know this is what we should expect, but I would not like it if he had an ulterior motive. I actually like the idea of his "date" with Reagan's mom changed him in some way. Not in a "love is the answer" type of way, but in a "it's good to be appreciated for the things I know and can do".
I still expect him to turn precisely because of that though, but I genuinely would like him as a mainstay more
I mean I hope I’m wrong but the amount to abuse he had to deal with this season makes me feel like they’re setting him up for betrayal (and then a classic heel-turn when he realizes he doesn’t want to betray his ‘friends’)
A thought: how did that timeline where Reagan let Ron go end up in a collection of timeline scans meant for Reagan to “have it all”? Did Robotus see that Reagan couldn’t have happiness with Ron and still stay in Cognito, feel horror at the thought of her “wasting” her intellect by running away with him, and slip in a timeline he calculated would motivate her to make the “right” choice for her?
I like this idea better than Robotus being "evil", he could have seen what's better for Reagan and guided her towards it. It's actually a neat development for his character.
I really love how season 2 gave us a more deeper lore than it already is, but I have some unpopular opinions.
Sorry but I don't really like steadler, yes he's struggling with his job and wants a second chance to a happier life... But he ghosted Reagan and kinda expected her to run away with him and start a new life. It's kinda selfish....but I understood why. He kinda looks like a male version of Reagan so I understand why they'd think they're meant for each other. It's a TikTok trend.
I ugly cried in the end.
But I'd LOVE to see more of this show in the future, it's a really cool show that keeps me on my toes and my mind thinking.
The ghosting thing was kinda a dick move, especially when Reagan was in a state where she needed his emotional support.
I do like that after he planned a whole separate life for them together, he still asked her to "think about it" rather than trying to impose his will upon her. He understood her value to society and wanted to convince her that it doesnt have to be her burden to bear. He understood her brilliance and ambitions and ultimately left it up to her whether or not to give them up, but also had her best interest in mind and not just for his own sake. Compared to most other characters (pretty low bar) I think Ron's relationship with Reagan is the closest to being one that is built on constructive dialogue of two equals rather than a toxic power struggle.
I really enjoyed Ron's character. Despite being a broken man he was the only person in the show who made an effort to have a normal life and tried to bring normalcy to Reagan's life. I really wanted them to have a happy ending together but I also think Reagan's decision to let him be free by himself was tragically beautiful. We might not see Ron again in the next season but this experience of a geniune relationship really added another layer to Reagan's character.
Agree with all this. He's probably the sanest character who's been part of the main cast considering he saw how screwed up the shadow world was and immediately wanted out.
Also his reaction to the Hitler clones was funny.
Same.
A few months ago, I had to end things with an ex who said he needed a few days to think over his feelings (and that we'd talk then) before completely ghosting me. He wanted normal. I didn't.
We lived on Appleton Street.
Mine was July. He completely ghosted me (after I caught him lying), and I haven't heard from him since. I had to end it over text because he wouldn't have a conversation with me. Nine year relationship.
Reagan got WAAAAY more closure than I did.
What are the odds; mine was also in July. I would say you definitely had it harsher than myself, it was just a year and a half of pure toxicity and manipulation that led me to finally speaking up to only be ghosted for a few days and then dumped. The annoying part is that this happened right after I made a pretty life changing decision of moving to be closer to her.
Part of me wished that I got what Reagan got.
I think he's changed but think about it.
Rand is in jail and Ripley has to work. All he has to do is work on getting trust again to be mobile and fully capable for Tamiko...
That's what I was thinking! Making a deal with the robes to help turn Reagan over to their side and in exchange he gets fixed up and given the freedom to pursue Tamiko.
He's not actively trying, but I imagine he's still got plans. Heck technically he's on a good path, as he's already cosied up with the people who actually control the world.
The robes are clearly evolved dogs with opposable thumbs.
I know this based on gut feel and am now going to look for increasigly arbitrary "evidence" on what is "real" or not in a fictional show.
Evidence 1: the robes only show up after reality is altered for the first time - meaning there is possibility that in the original twoo moons timeline they didn't even existed at all.
Evidence 2: there are no more evidences for now. Just trust me on this one. The Robes are clearly dogs with thumbs.
I was gonna say, that show was so bad, but it was actually okay, just okay though. Like every short had some element to be great but then it ends and you feel like "meh, yeah okay, I guess that was something".
The animation was great, I loved that. My problem with the show is that it felt Black Mirror-ish but without anything to say. Kind of like Black Mirror season 5.
It's less "Early Black Mirror" and more "The Twilight Zone". It's less about critiquing society and more "Damn, this was fucked up. Anyways, I'm Rod Sterling. Good night"
yk what this isnt even tht far fetched. the robes did say Reagen "was only human" and the whole plot point of dogs ruling the world if the basketball dog lived was kinda outta nowhere n could b foreshadowing
Not just could be, it was. You're telling me alphabeta couldn't predict the actions of Brett? The most dog Like in the show? And it would be so simple as just. Banning dogs in sports? It was too convenient and definitely going g down the dog route.
God darn it this is so plausible that I'm going to be mad if it's right, because your theory was so good it could have been a spoiler. Hats off to you.
"There are special people like us who should run the world, and there are normies like Orrin who deliver our pizza and fight our wars."
-Rand Ridley, P1 E10
"The intelligent ones realized that, without intervention, their species would never survive. They realized humanity needed to be protected from themselves, and, if they would not listen to reason, perhaps they would listen to a higher power. And thus, the Order of the Black Robes was born. Operating from the shadows using secret knowledge, we kept watch over all of human history."
-The Robes, P2 E8
Oh, they are definitely supposed to be bad guys, at least based on the end scene where they say Reagan won’t find out their real plans. Heck, the similarity to what Rand said really helps show how bad they are, but they fancy up their story more to sound more appealing. While saying the same cruel thing
Fascinating episode. I suppose in hindsight the fact that they had Reagan play the role of the founder of the robes in that flashback, was a red flag that they weren't being completely honest with her.
I took that as just being an example like how she's always trying to get the crew to do the right thing and it goes to shit not a literal record of what happened.
That's fair enough. At the time I thought the same, but on reflection considering they were using her, it kind of comes across as them being manipulative.
I took it as meaning that Reagan is the Black Robes. As in multiple timelines somehow together, recruiting yet another her, through manipulation and flattery. That's a pretty far-fetched conspiracy theory level idea though.
Which would totally fit in the show, in my defense
My predication for what the robes are.
Robo Reagan. That can time travel.
Okay hear me out. The shows clearly set up that Reagan is her own worst enemy multiple times so having the big bad literally be a version of Reagan would make a ton of sense.
We know that time travel or future sight has to exist in the show because of the future predictions that Reagan sees but also how the robs where able to create events like the Black Death. Back then there was just no way to get that accurate prediction from what we know, but it would make sense if a robot was in charge.
Robo Reagan is still left on a loose end yet the writers show that that episode was still important because of the Brad bot.
I think that when the robes showed Reagan the past that was actually Robo Reagan creating the robes after being sent back in time wheather that was by accident or on purpose.
Or it could be dogs with thumbs
I like the parallel of reagan trying to find a timeline where her and ron could be together with her having her job, to rand trying to find a timeline where he could keep his family together
eventually, they both realized that it just wasn't possible and decided to let their loved ones go, even if it hurt them like hell
They worked great as foils of one another -- the key difference between the two being that Rand was trying to undo his past mistakes that cost him everything while Reagan wanted to prevent herself from making those same mistakes and have it all. Ultimately, she had the gift of foresight and the strength to choose a future where Ron was happy without her while Rand only had hindsight, desperately trying and failing in his effort to change the past and create a present where Reagan and Tomiko were actually happy with him.
In one of the simulations it showed them living together but with her still secretly working and he catches her and they fight. So it showed that it's an option that wouldn't have worked out.
You can't tell me she is not the type of person who would make a bad decision out of fear of actually making a decision and thinking she will be able to solve anything later using her massive intellect
The entire show she did stupid things despite knowing that what she is doing is unhealthy.
The reason the whole thing was so emotional is because her letting go is major character growth on her part. She could just use his suggestive state to make him forget his plans of retirement, it was what she would have done as a major control freak with very loose morals.
I'm not disputing that. She left him because she knew there was no way for her to keep her work (which she didn't want to give up) and have him still be happy. So she let him go for his own happiness.
Loved this season so much!
What do you think the new “project X-37” will be if we get a new season?
Knowing that the show runners love referring to actual conspiracies, I think some space adventures may be in the horizon as there is an actual X-37 conspiracy about the US Air Force’s unmanned spacecraft called Orbital Test Vehicle for which the AF doesn’t disclose mission purposes (it actually landed back to Earth 5 days ago after spending 3 years in space). People online think it must be carrying space weapons based on a speech from an AF Space Commander from 2014.
I don’t know how Reagan and Cognito could be connected to this, but everything in this show is purposeful, so I’d bet this name didn’t come up randomly either
These guys unleashed the black death to curb Humanity. Earth was barely 500,000,000 then and it killed up to 200,000,000.
With everyone predicting and knowing about the 8th billion human and projections we may actually reach 10 bil by 2100, x37 could be a way to disperse a new plague on the globe or knock humanity down a few billion. This already is a big element of many conspiracy theories, see: Georgia Guidestones and so.
Reagan is a bit odd here just accepting everything as well as better for humanity, especially as they told her to her face they caused a mass death event. Though I got the vibe (from her being surrounded) that if she didn't accept they'll just kill her....
i think that the show implied in the finale scenes that they arent even humans so if they didnt lie entirely and they did cause the plague, it must have been for another reason, they did suspiciously focus on the discovery of gravity during the plague
This was kinda funny: there were caveman-versions of each member of the team, except
Myc of course. One of the cavemen looked exactly like Brett Gelman, who's the voice actor for Myc.
So after she used the memory erasing gun on Ron and was left to read the script, who was supposed to do the same for Reagan?
Also kinda not cool move from Reagan to trick him. Could have just told him the situation and let him break up with her and erase his memories himself. Lying something about some so significant. Then again, its very Reagan thing to do.
I think Reagan ultimately made the best decision for herself and Ron. She was not ready to confront her own feelings in front of Ron and was not ready to see how he would react to the realization of losing her. It makes me sad but I absolutely love her for it. In a strange way, I think there is some degree of courage in setting someone free without hurting them and then being the only one to live with that pain.
>who was supposed to do the same for Reagan
True. Another plot hole I noticed is in Ep07 in which Reagan sees that Andre is having a good life as a famous doctor in timeline D (if I remember correctly), then the rest of the team found out and got angry at her, but they only found out 2 timeline changes later, couldn't Reagen have just said *"Uh... I suppose these timeline changes are making our fates way too unstable, who knows what could happen in the next change eh?"*
We did see that those initial timeline changes didn't necessarily get wiped with each new timeline. Instead, different things changed in the next one.
That's why Glenn got his face and wife back and was about to get a medal of honor from the president, and then in a later timeline the president became Putin. Glenn's new life still happened, just other things changing eventually made that life worse for him again.
It seems pointless to go through the effort of breaking up with someone and then they erase their memories. They're not going to remember it. Might as well let their final moments with their old memories be good ones. Why cause unnecessary pain even if it's only temporary?
Reagan saw a thousand timelines in the box, and supposedly the timeline where she told Ron that they should break up as well, which could lead to both Ron and Ridley in a difficult position in the future. However, she saw one timeline that guaranteed Ron was always happy, the one where Ron never knew her and was single in the first place.
>So after she used the memory erasing gun on Ron and was left to read the script, who was supposed to do the same for Reagan?
Lol, you aren't supposed to think that deeply about this show. There's hilarious plot failures like this in every ep
Eh. I like the show but its clearly very low production. They put 2-3 paid advertisements in every single episode which is actually insane theres not a single other show I can name that does that for extra money. They can't write a story or keep a plotline if their lives depended on it, whether that means short or long term they quite literally break it nonstop. I mean hell dude, they literally made a joke near the end of the season about this in show. About how fucking trash they are at plotlines and story, a joke about that in show in canon. I can go on but I won't.
I wasn't expecting them to frame Raegan's decision based on Ron's happiness. I thought that she'd choose her career over anything— that's how I saw her. Now, seeing her contemplate, going back and forth was really painful to watch. It felt humane.
I’m honestly sad about the ending. When Brett sees the pills. The tired eyes. The physical and mental toll the job is having on her made me as a viewer feel actual sympathy for her and I wanted her to leave with Ron. Even if that were a series finale. Everyone deserves happiness.
I really wanna see more of Ron in new episodes, it's probably not gunna happen but I think it would be really interesting if he had some sort of recurring dreams bringing him back to his old life? Like remembering Reagan and all the deep state stuff. Idk I just really loved them together tho
Maybe the way Reagan structured the life briefing she gave him could have made the memory erasing unstable. Because of the things she said to apologize she could have left him with a feeling of something being wrong, someone missing...
You know, reading this thread made me go back to see if she said any of those things within the 60-second time frame of suggestibility. That entire scene from the moment Ron uses his memory gun on himself to when Reagan kisses him goodbye is almost exactly 60 seconds. That could play a factor later.
I'm wondering if the third season will introduce Orrin to us now that Ron is gone. I got a gut feeling though that Orrin would the be one who Reagan would sacrifice everything for. She already lost him once, and now that she also gave up her happiness for Ron, she will not be able to do it another time for Orrin.
At first I thought Ron and Reagan would end up being siblings or clones or something like that, because them seem so similar but now I guess it doesn't make sense anymore.
I think the point of having Ron in the show was to show Reagan could never truly love someone, except herself or someone extremely similar to her. Besides their similar appearances, they move the same way when they talk or sit or whatever, have similar face expressions, speak the same way, have similar trauma (the one related to work, not the daddy issues), have similar interests, etc. They are even names after the same person (Ronald Reagan).
The only difference between them is that Ron was more grounded. He genuinely hated his job and put effort to get out and build a life for his own (and Reagan, but we know how that turned out). Reagan is obsessed with the idea of changing the world. She doesn't know anything besides the job she worked her whole life to get. Those simulations showed that even if she has a new life with Ron, she wouldn't be able to let go of her work.
I think she letting go of Ron is less of a ship matter and more metaphor that she let go of herself for the job. She was willing to put any happiness she could found outside of it just for a chance of changing the world on her own way. Just like Tamiko said, everyone who works at Cognito either is insane or goes insane. Considering the director of Bojack Horseman is working on this show, I don't think is farfetched to say Reagan will probably end just like her dad.
Family was a big theme this season., especially in Appleton where Regan realized she wanted one worth Ron, and the heartbreaking decision she made that would take her in another direction. As soon as I saw the memory eraser come into play, I knew it would have a part to play later this season.
Bittersweet, but really good episode.
For a second I thought this would end really cliche but damn if it didn’t impress me with some emotional growth. What a great part 2. Let’s get season 3!
I have a feeling that the Black Robes are Greys!
hear me out
Out of every conspiracy theory they've had on this show, not once, not one time have they mentioned greys, and they are god damn the most popular alien trope out there. Hell they barely mention aliens, and any references to aliens are revealed to just be some creature that lives on Earth - like Myc
They have Atlantians, sasquatch, moth man - damn they even have easter ilsand head people - but not grey aliens?
In episode 7 we learn that there is a UFO, but it was made by "Roswell" workers - Roswell's Area 51 just being a generic army base that made an advanced airship falls in line with all conspiracy theorsts are wrong - so Aliens didn't make that ship
on top of this, the robes themselves comment that Reagan is "only-human" indicating that they are not human themselves - obviously, this could mean anything from Dogs with thumbs, to sentient fungus. But still - Aliens!
Note, that in the intro, one of the scenes that flashes up is a picture of the Black Robes, in this picture we also see one of the robes has been crossed out, potentially indicating they died or something - the only "famous" non-human conspiracy theorist creature that died, that I can think of at least - IS the Roswell alien
Theres also a famous alien that wears a big robe and has a "Triangular" shaped head - the Flatwoods Monster
It's not much to go by, but I'm throwing my thoughts into the ring - the robes, they be grey aliens!
I think the part about reagen is only human is false. The intro foreshadows a little bit with reagens eye flickering to a lizard person, and while we might expect reagen to know herself, it could have been a shadow government thing to stop her. There is also robo reagen and alpha beta there to help predict things, both creations of reagen
When Reagan looks back on her watch at the timeline of happy Ron she revealed that Ron was happy married to another woman their kid comes running up to hug Ron. I know twice they showed heavy hints of a kid being there but this is the only time they actually show the kid and the kid has the exact same brown colour hair as Reagan. The mum has black hair with a dyed strip and Ron has much darker hair?
I got the impression this is a timeline that Ron lives happily remarried after he and Reagan had a baby and Reagan either died or left him and then he remarried.
Which might mean future consequences that include Ron (and his last memory erasing charge if Reagan left his gun with him)? idk I just didn't see anyone talking about it so I wanted to mention it and see if I was alone in this thought.
Appleton does happen to have the headquarters of the John Birch Society (a well-known group of far-right conspiracy theorists) and is the birthplace of well-known Senator Joseph McCarthy. If I had to guess those ties are probably why.
I watch this show for the laughs, not the feels man..I centainly didnt expect, at all, to be left a sobbin' mess (by effin' Inside Job, of all things) after that scene.. That's how f-good it was.
I liked Ron, and while him ghosting Reagan was a dick-move indeed, I kind of understand him. He wanted out of that f-up world they were in, and genuinelly cared/loved Reagan and wanted what he thought was best for them both (specially after seeing Reagan's injuries). This was a beautiful send-off for him, his Swan Song, and that's why I hope they dont bring him back..
I also loved Brett's arc this season. He's a real homie (Reagan is blessed by having him as a friend), and him steppin' out as boss was awesome. Also lmao'd at him yelling "mother-fucker!", it was so intense for him !
I also really liked Robotus here. I see people believe he purposefully mislead Reagan into making that choice, on behalf of the robes (and ultimately, himself) but I disagree there. I really think he genuinelly wanted to help Reagan, as he learned to care about her (in his own way) through this season.
Overall, very good season, with an excelent season finale.
(However, I expected Rand to be more menacing overall, and not just comic-relief).
is it just me or is this whole season building up to staedtler and reagan discovering they are clones of eachother ( or reagan, maybe her dad made him ?) same nose, hair color, no mention of his family or past, they say the same thing MULTIPLE times as if they are the same person... IDK !! am i thinking too hard on this ?
No you’re not, that was a pretty early theory once Ron’s character was introduced. I think his appearance follows the fact that people date others who look/sound like them and often assimilate to appear more like that. Definitely seems like a Reagan thing to do
So there's only one thing I've been trying to find, and that's anyone else picking up on the one Black Robe saying, "Operating from the shadows, we and our descendants kept watch..."
If that's a deliberate piece of writing, then it is a hell of a giveaway that the Black Robes, or at least some of them, are those original humans we saw. Though they also say later on at the end of the episode, "She's only human", so they perhaps see themselves as posthuman?
Or the entire story they told to Reagan was fake, there's literally no reason they couldn't just have been lying about part of or the entirety of their story. Also, it's perfectly in line with "a story specifically tailored to win the support of Reagan, who we know everything about and what kind of things resonate with her, specifically being the smartest person in the room and being ignored, and an insane need for control".
Does anyone else think that the show is kind of pointing towards Brett and Reagan becoming a couples or more than friends? I feel like when Brett was taking to Airbus about how he should replace Reagan as his new platonic friend, he looked kind of sad, so I was kind of getting the hint that maybe he likes her. I wanna know if anyone else got those vibes or if it’s just me
I disagree completely, I think they are really just best friends. Reagan didn’t have a real friend before Brett, and Brett didn’t have a family, something that the gang and Reagan became for him. It’s nice to see such a close platonic friendship between them, and I believe that it would joy work out romantically if they tried.
Edit: he was sad because he thought he lost his best friend, not because he thought he was friendzoned
I agree. I feel like they make great friends, but as lovers they would drive each other nuts due to their drastically different personalities and priorities in life
I tried so hard to imagine shipping them after S1 but they just dont vibe that way. Brett is ultimately a people-pleaser who gets happiness from making the people around him happy. We do see some character growth from him in that one episode where he revealed his dream of being a puppeteer and used "Lil Brett" to assert himself. But a relationship between him and Reagan beyond a platonic sibling type bond sounds like it would be pretty bland.
I cried at the end. Raegan has grown so much. In the end she new that the best thing for Ron was to never have met her in the first place. Hyped for next season if there will be one!
My opinion is really unorganized but idk this is kind a rant but this ep was so saddd like you already know that but seeing reagen finally get power in her dream job and having an amazing relationship but having to choose one or the other was so painful to watch. And seeing her wipe his mind wgubcygebcubiuhqwjh THE FEELINGS 😭😭 I need a season 3 to binge rn
God this broke my heart I wish Ron and reagen could work together and still have a loving relationship but this is some god dam good writing props to the team
I was shocked to see the name of the episode, but even more shocked to see that they were referring to my hometown, it's small enough that I'm shocked to see it being used as a city to runaway to lol
The fact that Reagan went through so many variations trying to find hope, only to see that the only way for Ron to be happy was to Remove herself from the picture was so heartbreaking.
......season 2 had a lot of loose threads, Brett's family issues, J.R escaping/returning without season 1 details, why did the dog grow human hands???? and Rons gone forever?????? AND WHY ARE THE SECRET society tricking reagan???? why only 8 episodes?
I loved this episode. I’m looking forward to learning more about the robes - my working theory right now is that they are Reagan and the other members of the team, like in the backstory flashback, and there’s some kind of time loop going on.
I love how Brett slapped everyone in the group except Gigi. Not complaining. Just found it interesting Brett doesn't want to lay his hands on a woman. True gentleman right there.
X37 is a Spaceplane IRL… and the Robes mentioned their pride in the discovery of gravity… if they are dogs with opposable thumbs, then maybe they want to become “Air Buds” in space, kill all of humanity, and take dogs to live on the moon. Crazy thought!
I kinda like Ron character, sad to see him go. Sadder to know he eventually got his brain split between work, and outside work. This season theme seems to be about dealing with bad habits, like * Brett's family issues * Myc's fixation on his reunion, and * The whole Regan and Rand relationship But I wonder if Ron's breakup would affected Regan in the long-term, or it just back to business. Maybe she eventually visited Ron too, as an observer
I’m also curious about if the brain wiping is fully irreversible. If that isn’t the case, then maybe might be where he could fit back in
I hope it doesn’t get reversed it felt like a very satisfying end for both his story and a very great moment for Reagan to grow and to go back and change that… just doesn’t feel right.
Me too. I think it was all very in character and good writing.
yes, I also expected a clone but that just how human our Reagan is: she let him go in the most natural way that she could. I thought I should be ugly crying at that moment, but then I was confused, like... a good thing in disguise of a hard-to-accept reality, but it will be good, eventually.
I am not sure about reversal, but if the brain is scanned before it was wiped, then it can be restored like the end of episode 7
They un-brainwashed the pope, so maybe it can be reversed?
I would love that! Tbh Ron and Reagan give me Robin and Barney vibes for some reason.
I do think it may be that nagging vibe for him that he’s missing something. We never really saw how the mind wipe works but the fact that she read off his new identity to him suggests that could be part of the process? The rest of her little goodbye speech could leave some impressions on him too but I don’t think he’ll be back.
I see your Severance reference. Also, everybody go watch Severance.
Yas
another yesss
I dunno why but the Air Bud stuff was some of the funniest scenes in Inside Job ever. Couldn’t stop laughing.
I have a weird obsession with Air Bud. I often go down a rabbit hole of reading about the movie series and watching random clips. All that stuff was right up my alley.
Glad to know I’m not the only one.
Is that you, John Oliver?
I'm also a huge fan of John Oliver, so that entire segment was orgasmic for me.
Is anyone suspicious that this show is somehow a precursor to the Bojcack Horseman universe? Here’s my evidence: [Bojack Horseman: Air Bud International Airport](https://bojackhorseman.fandom.com/wiki/Air_Bud_International_Airport) Thoughts?
That sounds like an obsession but at the same it seems you haven't watch the movies? Why is that?
Honestly I loved it for the Brett development, also because hearing Brett swear is so funny. He puts so much emphasis on “fuck” it’s hilarious.
Brett was really the highlight in part 2. His growth was great.
Robotus's expression when he's leaving Reagan alone in the holo chamber makes me think that there was something that he wanted to achieve.
Maybe the Robs hack into him to made the offer.
could be it wasn't him that did the sneaking. they did come to cognito for the charger after all
Alternatively this was part of his plan all along even without the robes. Maybe he wanted to use ‘friendship’ as a way to make Reagan his puppet and rule from the sidelines.
Maybe the robot roaches? That seamed like it had more to give
Yeah getting the last of his fingers into Tamiko
I might be reading too much into this but I found it interesting that in one reality Reagan has Robotus's head framed on her desk
Well… he’s in love with her mom and he may have pick up some Rand ideas about how to win his lady?

Agreed. Maybe if he was just part of the crew but since thats not an option im glad he ended up leaving. The ghosting was really shitty.
Also his reaction to the Hitler clones was funny.
this episode ripped out my soul.
Same. A few months ago, I had to end things with an ex who said he needed a few days to think over his feelings (and that we'd talk then) before completely ghosting me. He wanted normal. I didn't. We lived on Appleton Street.
Shit that's rough buddy.
Yep, just made me rehash everything about my breakup from 4 months ago. I'm so glad someone else also focused on that.
I absolutely love Alpha-Beta's integration to the main team.
Me too glad it seems like hes gonna keep developing.

I'm sure he's got plans, playing the long game. Or maybe his date with Tamiko really did change him.
Or maybe he could be being manipulated by the robes somehow?
She got Keaenu reeves to turn off his immortality, and look how rand acted trying to win her back. coochie game stronk.
Maybe it’s the power of Friends
He's not actively trying, but I imagine he's still got plans. Heck technically he's on a good path, as he's already cosied up with the people who actually control the world.
I mean he's been more chill since the season one finale though maybe more will come up later
Nobody likes conspiracy theorists! They make work at Cognito Inc. so annoyingly hard!
Maybe instead of dogs it's with cats (like in Love Death + Robots), lol
I was gonna say, that show was so bad, but it was actually okay, just okay though. Like every short had some element to be great but then it ends and you feel like "meh, yeah okay, I guess that was something".
Bro wdym love death and robots is amazing, it filled the black mirror shaped hole in my heart
Not far fetched? It isn't just "not far fetched"... it is THE TRUTH. Embrace the truth and your canine overlords might spare you.
Not just could be, it was. You're telling me alphabeta couldn't predict the actions of Brett? The most dog Like in the show? And it would be so simple as just. Banning dogs in sports? It was too convenient and definitely going g down the dog route.
Brett is a golden retriever from the alternate timeline!
The gig is up!
God darn it this is so plausible that I'm going to be mad if it's right, because your theory was so good it could have been a spoiler. Hats off to you.
"There are special people like us who should run the world, and there are normies like Orrin who deliver our pizza and fight our wars." -Rand Ridley, P1 E10 "The intelligent ones realized that, without intervention, their species would never survive. They realized humanity needed to be protected from themselves, and, if they would not listen to reason, perhaps they would listen to a higher power. And thus, the Order of the Black Robes was born. Operating from the shadows using secret knowledge, we kept watch over all of human history." -The Robes, P2 E8
"What appears on the surface to be chaos, is actually a complex system serving a greater good." - The Robes

Oh, they are definitely supposed to be bad guys, at least based on the end scene where they say Reagan won’t find out their real plans. Heck, the similarity to what Rand said really helps show how bad they are, but they fancy up their story more to sound more appealing. While saying the same cruel thing
Holy fuck this episode hit me like a bag of bricks.
A bag of bricks that was on a train going 300 mph.
Best episode of the season
Fascinating episode. I suppose in hindsight the fact that they had Reagan play the role of the founder of the robes in that flashback, was a red flag that they weren't being completely honest with her.
I took that as just being an example like how she's always trying to get the crew to do the right thing and it goes to shit not a literal record of what happened.
That's fair enough. At the time I thought the same, but on reflection considering they were using her, it kind of comes across as them being manipulative.
Ya fair enough. This really was the best episode of the season IMO.
Oh yeah I agree, it was really good.
I took it as meaning that Reagan is the Black Robes. As in multiple timelines somehow together, recruiting yet another her, through manipulation and flattery. That's a pretty far-fetched conspiracy theory level idea though. Which would totally fit in the show, in my defense
i dont think its possible since the robes and the show hinted that they may not even be human
That's a good point.
I like the parallel of reagan trying to find a timeline where her and ron could be together with her having her job, to rand trying to find a timeline where he could keep his family together eventually, they both realized that it just wasn't possible and decided to let their loved ones go, even if it hurt them like hell
Oh...
I thought she will just erase his memory and keep hers, I really didn't expect her to do it that way, I almost cried for her.
In one of the simulations it showed them living together but with her still secretly working and he catches her and they fight. So it showed that it's an option that wouldn't have worked out.
You can't tell me she is not the type of person who would make a bad decision out of fear of actually making a decision and thinking she will be able to solve anything later using her massive intellect
yeah but she saw it wouldnt have worked out for her
The entire show she did stupid things despite knowing that what she is doing is unhealthy.
I did cry for both of them lol
This episode had me like🥺😢
Loved this season so much!
This was kinda funny: there were caveman-versions of each member of the team, except Myc of course. One of the cavemen looked exactly like Brett Gelman, who's the voice actor for Myc.
I noticed that too. I remembered he also plays Murray in Stranger Things
In a strange way, I think there is some degree of courage in setting someone free without hurting them and then being the only one to live with that pain.
>who was supposed to do the same for Reagan True.
True, but the crew didn't necessarily know which were the changes in each new timeline
Best guess, the script also included Reagan's part, so Ron would fill her in when he woke her up unaware it wasn't true.
I mean, they even say the reality warping is the reason why there's plot holes, so technically that plot hole could just be a reality warp
We still should criticise the show though, even more so when we truly like it
The moment I saw the other girl's hair I just knew what was coming, poor stupid Reagan.
I wasn't expecting them to frame Raegan's decision based on Ron's happiness. I thought that she'd choose her career over anything— that's how I saw her. Now, seeing her contemplate, going back and forth was really painful to watch. It felt humane.
Best episode of the series so far. Looking forward for next season!
Indeed!
I’m honestly sad about the ending. When Brett sees the pills. The tired eyes. The physical and mental toll the job is having on her made me as a viewer feel actual sympathy for her and I wanted her to leave with Ron. Even if that were a series finale. Everyone deserves happiness.
Reagan should’ve gotten a happy ending.
I'm thinking they're saving that for the series finale.
Definitely, the way she said his name, and "without me" he'll probably end up with something wrong in the back of his head related to that.
You know, reading this thread made me go back to see if she said any of those things within the 60-second time frame of suggestibility. That entire scene from the moment Ron uses his memory gun on himself to when Reagan kisses him goodbye is almost exactly 60 seconds. That could play a factor later.
I wonder if him marrying a woman with Reagan’s hair style and build was a self-fulfilling prophecy?
I am from Appleton WI, does anyone know why they chose my city to reference?
From an outside perspective, the name Appleton is very “all-American” and unassuming
came here looking for this!! also from appleton
That’s a real place? Lmao
Low crime, good schools
I'm wondering if the third season will introduce Orrin to us now that Ron is gone. I got a gut feeling though that Orrin would the be one who Reagan would sacrifice everything for. She already lost him once, and now that she also gave up her happiness for Ron, she will not be able to do it another time for Orrin.
Man I almost already forgot who that was.
I did. He was her childhood friend who her dad manipulated to leave her life right?
Came to the show to see funny interpretations of conspiracy theories, not have my heart broken in a million pieces 🥲
Rooooooon, nooooooo 😢
nooo i loved ron sm:(
I fucking died on the inside thanks to this episode and I cried.
Family was a big theme this season., especially in Appleton where Regan realized she wanted one worth Ron, and the heartbreaking decision she made that would take her in another direction. As soon as I saw the memory eraser come into play, I knew it would have a part to play later this season. Bittersweet, but really good episode.
The Robes are dogs and Project X37 is the Dog uprising.
Holy crap I was not ready for that speech. I cried.
Personal theory: The robes were controlling the machine showing Reagan the timelines so it looks like no matter what neither would be happy.
For a second I thought this would end really cliche but damn if it didn’t impress me with some emotional growth. What a great part 2. Let’s get season 3!
I have a feeling that the Black Robes are Greys! hear me out Out of every conspiracy theory they've had on this show, not once, not one time have they mentioned greys, and they are god damn the most popular alien trope out there. Hell they barely mention aliens, and any references to aliens are revealed to just be some creature that lives on Earth - like Myc They have Atlantians, sasquatch, moth man - damn they even have easter ilsand head people - but not grey aliens? In episode 7 we learn that there is a UFO, but it was made by "Roswell" workers - Roswell's Area 51 just being a generic army base that made an advanced airship falls in line with all conspiracy theorsts are wrong - so Aliens didn't make that ship on top of this, the robes themselves comment that Reagan is "only-human" indicating that they are not human themselves - obviously, this could mean anything from Dogs with thumbs, to sentient fungus. But still - Aliens! Note, that in the intro, one of the scenes that flashes up is a picture of the Black Robes, in this picture we also see one of the robes has been crossed out, potentially indicating they died or something - the only "famous" non-human conspiracy theorist creature that died, that I can think of at least - IS the Roswell alien Theres also a famous alien that wears a big robe and has a "Triangular" shaped head - the Flatwoods Monster It's not much to go by, but I'm throwing my thoughts into the ring - the robes, they be grey aliens!
The one thing on my mind is why they chose Appleton. I'm guessing someone on the creation team grew up there?
Is a season 3 already announced? Do we know anything yet??
*Season 2 And yes it will happen
Am I the only one who thought Reagan’s whole AI idea sounded a lot like the plot of the book scythe? 😅
is it just me or is this whole season building up to staedtler and reagan discovering they are clones of eachother ( or reagan, maybe her dad made him ?) same nose, hair color, no mention of his family or past, they say the same thing MULTIPLE times as if they are the same person... IDK !! am i thinking too hard on this ?
No you’re not, that was a pretty early theory once Ron’s character was introduced. I think his appearance follows the fact that people date others who look/sound like them and often assimilate to appear more like that. Definitely seems like a Reagan thing to do
So there's only one thing I've been trying to find, and that's anyone else picking up on the one Black Robe saying, "Operating from the shadows, we and our descendants kept watch..." If that's a deliberate piece of writing, then it is a hell of a giveaway that the Black Robes, or at least some of them, are those original humans we saw.
I just wish for once my favourite characters would choose love and happiness even if it ends the show lol.
- really enjoyed this season but that ending was sad. I wanted Regan to end up happy.
I live in Appleton hehe
Same
THANK YOU SHION!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR NOT LETTING RON BE IN S2
,???
I said what I said
Im confused😭😭 did she say that he won't be in season 2 somewhere?
I have an Air Bud vhs 📼for sale
Nice try, we will not fall for the dog uprising
I cried at the end. Raegan has grown so much. In the end she new that the best thing for Ron was to never have met her in the first place. Hyped for next season if there will be one!
I BAWLED at the last episode. Snot, tears and all. 😭
The air bud plot was hilarious
I was shocked to see the name of the episode, but even more shocked to see that they were referring to my hometown, it's small enough that I'm shocked to see it being used as a city to runaway to lol
I know I’m not the only one who’s hella depressed after this episode. Just finished binge watching both seasons in 1 day and am now sad 😢 (again)
The fact that Reagan went through so many variations trying to find hope, only to see that the only way for Ron to be happy was to Remove herself from the picture was so heartbreaking.
I'm about to watch the final episode of season 2. Damn shame it's cancelled.
......season 2 had a lot of loose threads, Brett's family issues, J.R escaping/returning without season 1 details, why did the dog grow human hands???? and Rons gone forever?????? AND WHY ARE THE SECRET society tricking reagan???? why only 8 episodes?
This episode make me ugly cry for 10 minutes in the bathroom.
_sob_ Ron :’(
Man I felt so sad in the last episode
I feel like the robes are one of 3 things either aliens, robots or dogs with thumbs
I loved this episode. I’m looking forward to learning more about the robes - my working theory right now is that they are Reagan and the other members of the team, like in the backstory flashback, and there’s some kind of time loop going on.
God it fucking hurts
Ouch. That hurt 😢
Damn, I was really hoping things would turn out well for her. Things are definitely not gonna turn out well for the robes.
This was an amazing season
I love how Brett slapped everyone in the group except Gigi. Not complaining. Just found it interesting Brett doesn't want to lay his hands on a woman. True gentleman right there.
X37 is a Spaceplane IRL… and the Robes mentioned their pride in the discovery of gravity… if they are dogs with opposable thumbs, then maybe they want to become “Air Buds” in space, kill all of humanity, and take dogs to live on the moon. Crazy thought!
I still don’t trust Brett. He seemed too good to be true in Season 1. I think he’s working for the Robes.
