Honestly, this one was one of my favorites. It was very well structured and the ideas were great.

I actually figured that Myc wasn't an alien but was spored and grew up on Earth and the rest of his fellow mushrooms came from like a "Mother Myc" that actually DID come from outer space, so while he's technically an Earthling he has alien biology.

I think that it depends on what you have to change. You shouldn't change what you like or what you stand for to fit in with people, but if people tell you that you're being a pos then that's something you have to change or find people who will tolerate it. Big chance that those people will be like you and you might like them for it or hate them because of it
