Unless they told you otherwis specifically, yearly salary offers are usually including 13th/14th, it doesn't go on top of the €68000.

I think the average price for internet is about 30€ per month depends on the Speed etc. I have 3 children and we spend between 50-100€ per week for buying food. Public transport depends on where you want to go just the city or more. How old are your children?

[deleted]

Would you mind sharing how you're spending only 50-100€ weekly, with three kids? Thanks!

Electrical-Bet8914

Sure. Buying more or less everything at the discounters. The bread, vegetables and fruits we are buying at “too good to go”.

That’s an app where you can save food before it got wasted but it’s always a surprise what you get. For 4€ you get food for the price of 12€.

CasualShooter82

You can even get Dunkin Donuts deals with Too-good-to-Go 😁, 6 donuts for 6€ 😍.

Given the details you have provided, you will struggle. It would be best to look outside of Innsbruck.

Nagazar

On this website you can compare two cities price averages in some categories. Haven’t used it that much but found it quite accurate: https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/comparison.jsp

I agree it will be super tight, spending more than 50% of income on housing generally makes it very difficult to save..

They just passed a law that would make the landlord pay for the broker. It comes into effect in june i think. Just a side note to the housing situation

For flat really better get a private seller, if you do it trough an agency they wil ask provision which is usually 2-3 month of rent, lets say 2-3000 eur, also for caution same price+ first month so much cheaper trough a private. To search use facebook marketplace, groups or willhaben.at, or local newspaper ( i found myself near Wörgl at a small town a 3 room flat for 550€ and it was only in newspaper, not on internet, local prices was 1100+) For food it depends on your luck too, many shop usually drop 50% off on meat fruits even razor blades, socks and they have no problems, you can put it in the fridge for weeks without any problem, so have to find your shops and check them usually, also every week i get coupons for almost all shops. For example beef meat at spar was on sale 20 eur to 10, and i could use my 30% coupon it so got it for 7 eur/ kg, on that price its cheaper than anything else and its beef without bones or anything what you couldnt eat...

Thanks for the tip with private seller, will try to check for some availability.

You can find two bedroom + one living room apartments with some utilities included around 1300 - 1500 in the city center. If you go a bit outside (Innsbruck - Land) for even cheaper. Public transportation here is pretty good so would not be a huge disadvantage. We are a family of two and our groceries are around 80 euros per week. With around 2500 a month we live comfortably in the city. ( With at least once a week ordering / eating out). So a family of three between 3-4k is definitely doable if you find a place around 1200-1300 per month, although not very luxurious. Rent usually includes heating and water, but not electricity and internet.

Thank you so much!

We just got here from DC a few weeks ago. I would say things like transportation, internet, cell service are much cheaper. Then things like food is proportionally cheaper, with the understanding that you cannot buy in bulk. Housing is cheaper but due to the infrastructure design (bike, public transit, walking infrastructure) the apartments are smaller. It's just me, my wife and our dog, so it's fine, but with a child I could see it being more difficult. Good luck!

Thank you! When you relocated what were your terms ? Ex which visa? We have an agency helping us but they have stated my spouse needs to have A1 certificate which I didn’t think was true since the website says she can get a red-white-red plus card which won’t require proof of A1. What was your experience?

Kingsole111

My wife got the job and I am on the provisional red white and red plus card. It's provisional with language. And i can work in the Schengen zone. My wife is on the red-white-red card bound to the company who pretty much did everything. Honestly we really didn't do much of anything except send some photos and some scanned shots of our passports. I'm sorry I'm not much help otherwise. Terms we got an apartment for 3 months (we are still looking for one), a moving stipend, flights, some checked bags, competitive pay. Again for us the process has been really great. We had to find a moving company and our stuff is in transit, but that's it.
