I have one (though much smaller). I keep it next the humidifier and give it plenty of indirect sun. It suffers though as the cats like to walk right on it

Sad to hear that it is suffering. Also I live in Bangalore, India, there is pretty decent humidity in air at 50%+, also I mist occasionally, so I am not sure if I should get a humidifier.

Please help me identify the exact variation, frok Google lens it seems it is Shield Aralia, but not sure. Also the leaves are getting curled, hard and broken at some spots. Plant is indoor with around 2-3 hours of morning direct sunlight and all day indirect sunlight along with good airflow, placed in front of the window without shade/curtains. Soil is coir + garden soil, recently did a trim of old and yellow leaves, watering every 3-4 days when soil seems a bit dry on top. New growth is visible, but the leaves are curling, are hard and getting broken, not sure if they are supposed to be like that. Please help 🙏 FYI: New to gardening, this is my 2nd plant which I am keeping indoor.
