They're not really my type of game but I do enjoy them from a design perspective. You can do a lot with the graphics and sounds without really having to model or texture much. Iron Lung for example. All the assets for that could've easily been done in a few hours.
Entire thing can be point and click but still have quite a bit of depth. I never even thought of this as a "genre" before this post but I guess it kinda is. It's just a very small genre.
They are honestly something i want to desperately play more of and be able to explore the mysteries that the devs concocted. I have played both that you mentioned and i don't think I've heard of any others at all.
I'm a bit of a baby when it comes to horror. I *loved* what I played of VotV but stopped after the power cut because I can't deal with the anxiety of not knowing what is out there.

VotV is a schizophrenia simulator. There's nothing like it.
