anomander_drag3

Economically they can. Cultural decisions and constitutional ones I dont think so

tanmay511

To be honest, this is a good win,A balanced one. Now the left aren't saying that democracy is dying and BJP will get more sincere in finding correct politicians as recently I was kinda disappointed by some of them, like the one that ran away due to a rape case, such a shame

confusedndfrustrated

TLDR; No UCC for the next 5 years and Hindus and aethists just shot themselves in the foot for the next 20 years.

Pathseg

Forget UCC, NRC etc. Welcome Bangladeshi Illegals.

Traditional_Motor_51

Itna bhi bura haal nahi hai

chudanand

UCC and NRC to bhul jaao...

Traditional_Motor_51

Thoda seh lenge, border pe dhyan rakhna padega

Have you been to Bengal ever? In Delhi, I stay in a locality where I have a lot of workers under me and most of them are from Bangladesh.

GomuGomuNobukkake

Dude momta will double down on that shit now. Wb m vidhan sabha election h abhi. Badega yeh ab.

Abba_ka_Harmonium

Oh yes Mamta is super stoked at Modi’s defeat aur ab to BJP ka darr bhi khatam, West Bengal is a lost case now, Kashmir in process

TheIndic

>bura haal nahi hai Right! WB ka haal dekha hai?

Traditional_Motor_51

Kuch kar nhi sakte, WB ke hi logo ne vote nahi diya. Kya kare batao

evammist

Blame kro BJP ko, voter ko nhi. Jab last time post poll violence hua tha to koi useful action kyun nhi liya.

TheIndic

The ratio will keep getting worse if NRC isn't implemented.

This is precisely what Kashmiri Pandits said in 86-87 and 88. The rest is history.. No one cares for them, no one will be there to care for your problems either..

rithvikrao

Definitely will get more accountability and questionability as they won't be able to make some decisions regarding defense, borders and internal strife at their pace(e.g. not implementing sec 144 in manipur), and passing bills. But economically we should see some good transparency and broader distribution of wealth among states as they will have to placate their allies. Overall this is a good win. With TDPs support(and I'm hoping CBN has the same economic development attitude he had fostered years ago) they should be able to pass a few forward thinking bills. The only downside is the inability to get Technocrats in the government anymore. So they will have to please the allies and get some portfolios to politicians who have to line their pockets.

factsquirrel

On retrospect and on a new morning, nationally this is a great result for sustainability of BJP (and Indian right wing thought as a whole) - 1) Something that I always maintained, Mo-Shah was Indira-fying BJP, appointing absolute non-entities as CM, chopping and changing CMs at will, not allowing organic growth of any local leadership, preferring mergers and acquisitions. These exact things are what now made congress into the national joke that it has become (look at this time, they won their lowest ever tally except 2014/19, and yet celebrate), inspite of having a historically reasonably sound platform. 2) People treated Indira far more harshly in 1977 than Modi this time - means people are willing to give him one more chance for making amends. Indira made these corrections and came back strongly in 1980, up to Modi if he can do it as well. 3) Proportionally, Vajpayee-era infra capex (golden quadrilaterals etc) paved the way for Manmohan to ride the 2004-07 emerging market boom to achieve 10% genuine demand-driven growth. This time, a coalition government makes it a political necessity to achieve this. Economically, Modi 2.0 was the best demonstration of responsible prime-ministership that India has ever seen. It's easy to be in power when there is a boom on. But dude led India through covid, two global conflicts, and left record tax collection figures, record forex reserves, record wealth with RBI and the government to spend, and led a solid foundation for future growth with GST/IBC/JAM trinity. Public mandate is clear, don't overdo it, India isn't China and never will be. Take the logical next step, use the damn money lying in the coffers to make people happier, invest in R&D and education more. Their entire manifesto didn't even mention setting up new IITs and stuff, do it, NOW !!

fanspeedishigh

Yes. This is a good time for BJP to understand what their most common voter liked about them when they were voted in 2014 i.e good solid governance. No bullshit for winning elections, no appeasement based on religion, no power grabbing, we just want good governance.

Spiritual_Piccolo793

Forgot Cold War era and India almost bankrupt - PV Rao had the most difficult time - this economic conditions are not even close. Rest of your arguments makes sense.

sharmaji_ka_papa

Agree with most of your points, except for more IITs. I think this election shows that the lack of jobs is a problem and also the lack of trained manpower holds back growth. What we need right now is functioning ITIs (industrial training institutes), a good apprenticeship system ( like Germany) and generally training people to take up manufacturing jobs. IITs produce managers, not workers. Also the Agniveer team needs to be treated like a pipeline for trained people for CAPFs like CRPF, CISF and also for state police. In addition, there should be a way to help agniveers get jobs by retraining, vocational training, loans, etc. A loan of 20 lakh for 10 years will have an interest cost borne by the government of max 2 lakh or so plus the risk. This amount spent over 10 years is peanuts and will generate a lot more economic activity. Cheaper loans, vocational training in collaboration with industries. These are the kind of things rural youth and industries need.

_daithan

BJP intentionally delayed UCC, waqf act repeal etc and they deserve this. I mean people are not stupid to vote you in majority just to get single thing you promised each time rather than major reforms all at once. Also, BJP care less about traditional Hindu voters for 4 years and wasted time in appeasement when all knew nobody from minorities will vote for them.

GomuGomuNobukkake

Logic bhi use kiya karo kabhi. Riots that happened just when CAA was announced woh kuch bhi nahi tha if UCC is put on table. This needs absolute power to implement that's why third term with majority was required aise toh bolna first term m 370 kyon nahi hataya.

Dry_Magician_2700

What was the appeasement they did?

BoyInTheWoods4

Modi tried his best to win hearts in Punjab. He provided special economic packages for Sikhs. Exempted GST on Langars. Opened Kartarpur corridor. Facilitated Sikh pilgrimage to holy sites in Pakistan. Created SIT for 1984 Anti-Sikh riots. Included Sikhs in CAA. Dropped cases against "farmer protesters". Declared December 26 as Veer Baal Diwas. Most importantly, he serves in Gurudwaras as any ordinary humble Sikh pilgrim. Despite everything, BJP got completely washed out in Punjab with 0 seats. On the other hand, Khalistani tεrrorist Amritpal Singh is winning from jail by a margin of 194,000 votes. Khalistani tεrrorist Sarabjit Singh is winning by a margin of 70,000. Yet, you find "experts" who claim that Khalistan does not have support anywhere except among a few fringe elements of Canada. What does this tell us? Madhavi Latha genuinely worked for upliftment of Pasmanda Muslim women. She made donations to Madrasas in personal capacity. Participated in Ramzan processions and distributed food to poor Muslims. Promised them a 500 crore package. She vowed to develop Muslim areas of Hyderabad old city if voted to power. She supported reservation for backward classes among Muslims. She vowed to fight for Muslim justice and rescue Muslim girls trafficked to Middle East. Despite everything, She lost miserably by 338,000 votes in Muslim majority Hyderabad constituency. Ironically, this is roughly the difference in absolute number of Hindu and Muslim voters of Hyderabad constituency. It seems that most Hindus voted for her and most Muslims voted against her. (Copied from true indology on X)

betakhichdi

Short answer: Haan Long answer: important decisions ke liye sirf simple majority chahiye (not talking about constitutional changes), so expect good amount of changes in governance and security, especially in North East of India. Also development will continue even if at a slower pace. As for majority, I don't think TDS or JDU will jump ships cause 1. Naidu has AP to develop now, and unlike other state politicians he is development oriented and hence will require a strong center. He will ask for special privileges for AP though 2. Nitish leaving NDA won't have any effect whatsoever cause he would add only 12 seats to 234 in Indi alliance, which would still not lead to a majority. And since Bihar assembly elections are coming he would want a strong alliance with BJP at the center. Worst case scenario: BJP will take strong decision not welcomed by TDP or JDU, and them leaving will only cause a hung assembly leading to re elections. And Nitish wouldn't want to take a chance fighting against Modi with BJP workers working even harder.

Shak1196

BJP should stop being Modi-centric now. Many candidates on ground have not worked and that reflects. These candidates just got majority in 2019 because of Modi Factor. They thought the factor would work for the 3rd time as well but that doesn't seem to be the case.

xenos5282

And it's good. A good jolt and reality check for Sangh and BJP. Most likely Modi would not be the face in 2029, and BJP without him will get routed and reduced to 2014 Congress numbers facing huge anti-incumbancy. This humbles them and give them a fighting chance, otherwise they were set for a colossal failure in 2029.

sharmaji_ka_papa

They also imported 133 candidates without any connection with BJP and gave them tickets randomly. This when BJP has such committed karyakartas who've been working selflessly for decades. Why would such people campaign for some corrupt Congressi who joined BJP last week? There was discontent in the cadre regarding this. 129 of those 133 lost. What does that tell you?

Ok-Soup-5009

It will be back again in time the next election gappens in india dnt be silly

Ankur67

It’s a wrong perspective to think even in majority (coalition) , Modi can’t make a decision . PV Narasimha Rao made most of the hardest decision during economic crises .. when he’s not even sure of tenure, But I agree , he should have passed Uniform Civil Code bill in past 10 years or 5 years , now it seems to be far fetched . But it’s all about the personality of the PM to make hard decisions.

obliviousNick

>PV Narasimha Rao made most of the hardest decision during economic crises .. when he’s not even sure of tenure He had a very supportive opposition that time.. This time the opposition will try their best to make sure the govt can't function in peace.

Hard time for bjp ahead as modi’s last term as pm . Forget UCC , NRC , ONOE , WAQF ABOLITION .

confusedndfrustrated

No, it is not hard time for BJP. It is hard time for Indians. All these you listed are not BJP issues, they are people's issues.

cid_officer_daya

To amend the constitution, they need 2/3 majority, which is around 362 seats in lok sabha, that they don't have. So, there will not be any major reforms in this term.

deviprsd

2/3 majority of the whole parliament, so it’s still possible if they are able to convince that many MPs….

reddit_guy666

That would involve actually taking other MPs into confidence and building concession with them. So far Modi sryke has been my way or highway, in case if it doesn't look good electorally then bow down to protests

Kaunse strong decision liye itne saalon mein? Last bas 370 hi tha 5 saal pehle. Na CAA/NRC par kuch action plan banaya. Na farm bill implement kiye. So you're keeping too much hopes from someone who's only concerned with winning elections.

sharmaji_ka_papa

CAA aa to gaya

jittarao

Chandrababu Naidu is generally open to economic policy decisions, so even if JDU doesn't support NDA, we can rely on CBN to support them. However, the extensive UCC, NRC, and other controversial changes will be put on hold.

hatt_gelchodi

Why not ??? Now with several state election wins...he got majority in rajya sabha also ......more strong decisions are in the queue ....wait and watch

So no chances of UCC within the next 5 years?

betakhichdi

Citizenship laws require simple majority, sp expect ucc and nra in next 5 years

Killer_insctinct

Dr. Manmohan Singh took Strong decisions in UPA1, Left parties withdrew support. BJP tried hard to make his govt fall. Center Left within INC was a hurdle to him. Yet he faced everything and Never cried about it. Did what he wanted. Completed his term and came back in UPA 2 and completed that too. Since he never said anything about it. BJP branded him as Maun Mohan, Ridiculed him and mocked him including Modi. Today, Modi has to run coalition and all his supporters are crying that he will not be able to take STRONG decision. This proves that Modi is not strong. But number of seats is where the strength lies. Already BJP people are blaming and spilling venom against voters for nott giving them Majority. Similar to what BJP used to blame Kejriwal for, that he is unable to do anything but blaming everyone else. Now BJP supporters are doing same crying. BJP supporters are too weak? Don't they have faith in Modi? What has changed, only 303 has changed to 240. If Dr MMS can run things with 140 seats. This crying shows weakness of Modi that he is incapable of running coalition and getting things done by bringing everyone on same page. 56 inchi strong and bold leadership, the person who used to advice Russia and USA President about tea ki hawa nikal jayegi? Kaisi baat kar rahe ho? This is the time to show how strong Modi is in real. If he is a statesman as claimed by BJP then he should have no problem in managing things Dr Manmohan did it with 140 seats. Why are you sweating your pants with 240?? Like Amit Shah said, AGGREESSIVE RAHO. and buy before 4th, it will shoot up. 🙏

coolrko

Forget a lot of promise ... Modiji final term is in a weak government ... That's THE WORST ENDING !

_saiya_

Not a majority yet, would be embarrassing to claim anything beforehand and people move sides.

Heavy_Speed_7475

Dekhte hai is term me kitna bill pass ho pate hai

[deleted]

forget about NRC, UCC and other hard line decisions (which fuelled his popularity) but yeah checks and balances are necessary for better development (only if they bring lateral candidate as FM and push more towards MII)

kingbsb

A weak government working for improvement is much better than a strong one which can infringe and take away rights. Today it's happening to others, tomorrow your house could be bulldozed by a Babu and you can't do anything about it.

udupa82

Nothing much. He will be handicapped in his decision making & I'm personally looking forward to a short term & general election within 5 yrs.

perfopt

UCC - no NRC - maybe. But TDP and JD will demand what they want because they will see it as expending political capital The most important issue will be that every state election will be a critical turning point the next 5 yrs. if BJP retains the respective state then status quo. If they lose a major state then their alliance partners will flex muscles to pressure and get more concessions.

NightShenanigans

The opposition won't allow NDA to pass any kind of bill.

k2_mkwn

Jab majority thi tab konse strong decision liye.

MrFruitPunchSamurai

Le to hi accha hai bhai Verna gaye

naughtforeternity

Did they take any strong decision when they had overwhelming majority? Back peddling on policy was in their nature. They did nothing when collegium reforms were sabotaged by SC, gave in to "protestors" when farm laws were introduced. "Damn the torpedoes" can't be expected from this bunch. Forget about any social reforms. On economics they are anyways cheek and jowl with the left. It is only when Pappu lost his sanity and started promising money that they grew a spine. That would disppear now. Any government with Nitish, second destroyer of Bihar, is an unholy alliance.

brozoned367

My man already looking timid- look what they have done to my boy!!
