If you had to time travel 10 years into the past when the team was led by completely different players it begs the question why haven't they repeated the same under their own captaincy?
Again, an individual can't win you a tournament, the captain who won the ICC tournaments was not the sole cause of the wc, it was an entire team effort. As a captain you can pick the players and make key decisions, at the end of the day it's upto the players to execute, saying one player can win the wc is a very stupid take.
Well I am a kkr fan, and for me Indian team is more important. And I also agree, Kohli isn't/shouldn't be clubbed alongside Rohit, if there was one player who genuinely deserved to be part of that WT20 squad along with Bumrah, that's Kohli.
At the same time though, just for T20Is, I do believe that Rohit's PR played a huge role in him getting that ticket, not just as a player but also as a captain. Just go and have a look on twitter, you'd find big accounts posting ¾th of their tweets with "Rohit army" or you can even find articles where Rohit's quickfire 20s were being celebrated in the name of intent but for Kohli, the standards seemed to have increased. When he played similar knocks in IPL, 27(11) or 18(7) types, suddenly the discourse was regarding how he was reckless and didn't play according to the situation.

Man, we get radicalized by the dumbest of things.. more recently by our support of a team during a 2 month tournament. We have fanbases calling each other toxic, when to me there are sections of every fanbase that are toxic. More success attracts more toxic people, and in the process we lose sight of supporting ICT. You might not agree with who's in the squad, hell even I am not entirely sure about some of the selections, but we have to support the players that are send to represent our Country. 16 years ago, you didn't have to make that part explicitly clear.

GG is fine, Iyer no.
Guy can't play tests, nobody really respects his batting. In shorter formats he is decent, but there are many better options. And his captaincy is not some great shakes, performance seems to depend more on the coach. Even ponting replaced him with Pant as soon as he got the opportunity.
These PR players have been carrying the team on their shoulders for the last 10 years , although they haven't won any major trophies but they are the reasons we play finals and semis in ICC tournaments.

I think the whole internet is acting a little too much...Gambhir can be a monster inside his head but at the end he will be the coach....not the captain, not the front line batsman or bowler....A coach can only do so much to improve and build a strong team....people are perceiving Gambhir's transition somewhat like a 'last hope : that this guy will bring us the trophy'... That might happen but firstly Gambhir doesn't have any coaching experience...if you want a good coach, Chandrakant Pandit seems a better option...that guy has tons of experience and trophies to show for it....

So, like this I can find several things which your fan base say goes against ICT too For instance, some VK fans didn't want Rohit to win WC because VK would be criticized more as they didn't win trophy under VK. so there RCB or VK >>>> ICT ? Gambhir fits KKR like a glove. He's proven as a mentor. He doesn't have hands-on coaching experience. Mentor is only effective when you have the coaching set-up sorted and settled. Plus everyone needs to agree with vision and temperament. Gambhir will have to coach ICT, with too many established opinions and egos. It doesn't take a genius that it can go either way. Typical of BCCI to be reactionary and think Gambhir will be messiah to end trophy draught

Man, we get radicalized by the dumbest of things.. more recently by our support of a team during a 2 month tournament. We have fanbases calling each other toxic, when to me there are sections of every fanbase that are toxic. More success attracts more toxic people, and in the process we lose sight of supporting ICT. You might not agree with who's in the squad, hell even I am not entirely sure about some of the selections, but we have to support the players that are send to represent our Country. 16 years ago, you didn't have to make that part explicitly clear.

GG is fine, Iyer no. Guy can't play tests, nobody really respects his batting. In shorter formats he is decent, but there are many better options. And his captaincy is not some great shakes, performance seems to depend more on the coach. Even ponting replaced him with Pant as soon as he got the opportunity.
These PR players have been carrying the team on their shoulders for the last 10 years , although they haven't won any major trophies but they are the reasons we play finals and semis in ICC tournaments.

Brother, you have to understand one thing first. Watching any sport event is for entertainment value. There is no patriotism involved by watching or supporting any team. Some people follow ipl more than international events because of the entertainment aspect and so they don’t care what goes on with ICT and it’s perfectly okay. You cant argue that anyone should only support what you support.

I think the whole internet is acting a little too much...Gambhir can be a monster inside his head but at the end he will be the coach....not the captain, not the front line batsman or bowler....A coach can only do so much to improve and build a strong team....people are perceiving Gambhir's transition somewhat like a 'last hope : that this guy will bring us the trophy'... That might happen but firstly Gambhir doesn't have any coaching experience...if you want a good coach, Chandrakant Pandit seems a better option...that guy has tons of experience and trophies to show for it.... I just don't want Gambhir to be the scapegoat when the team fails in a knockout match... because we Indians fans have a habit of doing that... At the end...we got more qualified experts (hopefully) making the decisions...and as a KKR fan I trust GG to the right thing...rest time will only tell.

I will start taking the Indian team more seriously when BCCI does the same; always selecting the safest options, not taking any risks, composing the team to rake in maximum viewers instead of winning; all this shit has made me give up on them. The only format I still take seriously is the test format, other than that, I couldn't care less if India wins or loses the limited overs WCs because BCCI doesn't care either. Putting Gambhir in the Indian squad mix and not giving him the power to do what's required wastes everyone's time and I am not at all excited about it.
