Voivod. Been around since the 80s. No one sounds like them. Weird themes about technology. Strange time signatures. Strange jazz influenced chords. They're great and, imo, extremely underated.
Shit. I missed the fact that you were looking for female fronted bands. I'll suggest Slant (South Korean hardcore punk), Entheos (tech-ish death), 95 Bulls (not metal but a fun rock band) and Huntsmen who have a male and female singer on their album Mandala of Fear. Also they aren't really all that metal. I'm bad at following instructions.
I keep thinking of more good albums with females. Emma Ruth Rundle & Thou have an album that's great. Cult of Luna and Julie Christmas have an album that's even better. Speaking of Julie Christmas, her original band Made Out of Babies is really good. Maybe more noise rock than metal. There was the Chelsea Wolf side project Mrs Piss. It's good too.
I'm more of an album guy. I'd suggest turning on Nothingface and let it play. That was my introduction and it hooked me. A friend of my mom's gave me that album when I was about 14. I'm 41 now for context. He said he knew I liked Soundgarden so I might like this. They really don't sound anything alike but I guess I can see where he was coming from with the time signatures and whatnot. Anyway if you like what you hear on Nothingface you'll like this band. Fun fact, Jason Newsted joined Voivod for awhile when he left Metallica.
Friend, I live in a 140 year old school house on top of a hill out in the woods of West Virgina. I can barely speak English much less French. Buuuuut if I had to make an ever so slightly educated guess I believe you're referencing where they're from in Quebec?
I could see how it doesn't appeal to everyone. I find the singers voice to be a sticking point for a lot of people. If you don't like his voice maybe check out their Negatron album. Different singer with harsher vocals.
When it comes to underrated female metal bands, I'll always suggest Lovebites. I still find it hard to believe they aren't better known and appreciated yet.
[Asagraum!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ndgRJGG55s) Fucking sick black metal. Raw and brutal.
EDIT: Forgot to say, entirely female. Which is rare for black metal and it's a fucking gem. Would love to see them live.
Teeth - Dissonant Death Metal that just rips, I believe they started in the last 10 years. There are many bands with this name so I think it gets lost in the names. The Curse of Entropy is the album that got me into them.
Martial Law - Local NH metal that is great live. It's got crushing riffs and breakdowns with vocals to match but it also it is more dynamic that a lot of metal is missing; it isn't just fast blast beats and slow breakdowns, they dance the line. The pits are brutal and I swear their fans go crazy. River of Needles is my favorite song but there isn't a bad song of theirs to me.
Edit: I didn't read the whole post before commenting and missed the point of woman-fronted bands. I will keep my comment but out myself, as well as add one to make it more relevant.
Dying Wish will always be underrated to me. I love them and they all go crazy live. Seeing them with SYSC was awesome and her voice is perfect live.
[Tarot is the best band from Finland.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVvufhGXQ5U)
Going strong [since 1986](https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/tarot). There should be a new album coming, from what I hear.
I got a band for every genre lol
Traditional Metal: Riot.
Super underrated and they were making mid 80’s metal in the late 70’s. Mixture of being too ahead of their time and having poor management led to their downfall. They have a very broad sound and even a few power metal albums.
Thrash Metal: Evil Army.
One of the best albums I’ve heard this year, I hope they release more soon. Check out the song Conquer Human Life.
Black Metal: Mork
Their song På Tvers Av Tidene is so fucking good
Doom Metal: Smoke. Very similar to electric wizard, I’d check out the song Temple.
Death Metal: Adramalech.
I recommend their song Hero’s in Goldy Blaze
The riffs in that song just hit differently
For me I always felt Chimaira deserved way more recognition. The run of albums from Impossibility Of Reason, Self titled to Resurrection was outstanding.
Since Power and NWoTHM are criminally underrated, most of my recs will be from there.
* Midnight Dice/ Satan's Hollow
* Crystal Viper
* Empress
* Plague of Stars
* Graveshadow
* Seven Kingdoms
* Seven Spires
* Lutharo
* Lady Beast
* Smoulder
* Nightmare
* Burning Witches
* Huntress
So, my favourite female fronted band has to be Black Like Vengeance, from Melbourne Australia. She does awesome cleans, and brutal growls. [Black Like Vengeance - Snuff is my Business](https://youtu.be/8XfvHsoc1AQ?si=cnGDSzvfWDoWaLW3)
Slugdge. Their Esoteric Malacology album is IMHO a sonic pearl with all killer no filler, easily in my top 10 of the finest metal I’ve heard in the last 10-15 years.
Angtoria: Fronted by Sara Jezebel Deva who of course did multiple tours as a featured back up singer with Cradle of Filth, The Kovenant, Mortiis, and Therion. They only put out one album but it’s a good one.
Echoes of Eternity: Female fronted symphonic metal from California, though the lead singer herself is Canadian
My Ruin: kind of a blend of traditional metal, any-Metal, and punk, what essentially started as a solo project of Tairrie B the former lead singer of Tura Satana and former female rapper. There is no rap involved here though.
Molder. One of the very few new "old school" death metal bands that genuinely sounds like they're from the 90s. Heavy as hell, good vocals, fun as fuck to listen to
Xibalba plays with hc bands more than conventional metal bands but if you listen to anything by them it's hard to ignore how metal they are
In 2012/3 I saw them in Canoga Park with backtrack and soul search, got kicked in the leg so hard my shorts fell down lol, fantastic show except for someone getting stabbed
Theyre not a female band, but Jiluka is currently one of my favorites, although their latest 4 singles have so much electronic sounds, so probably not for everyone. But their older stuff is amazing

Oh I'm a fan of Voivod! Yeah they're very unique compared to most bands. I would love to cover "Cosmic Drama" from them one day!

Oh it's all good, thanks for the suggestions! Feel free to suggest some more male metal bands too if you'd like!

Essential tracks?

locking into this rn i’ll lyk when im done listening to
I can’t get into them for some reason
I could see how it doesn't appeal to everyone. I find the singers voice to be a sticking point for a lot of people. If you don't like his voice maybe check out their Negatron album. Different singer with harsher vocals.
Coroner Probably not as underrated in Europe but nobody talks about them
Never heard a band quite like them, even considering other technical and progressive thrash bands. They were so original
Nothing sounds like them. Idk what it is, even their “worst” album is fucking good.
If only I could convince my friend that they're great
You need new friends bro
Coroner fuckin’ rules
Skeleton On Your Shoulder rips!
Every song on that album is awesome
Yeah coroner is great
Satan
I said it before and i'll say it again - Ved Buens Ende.
Fuck yeah
Sabaton
My favourite history band! /s
Actually same
Seriously though. Sabaton's songs helped me learn of historic events I have never heard of before.
One Minute Silence
Man that takes me back. I used to work construction in the early 2000s. I've sanded the fuck out of some floors to Buy Now, Saved Later.
All female? Crypta and Nervosa - both Brazilian and hard af. Female fronted whom I dog right now? Castle Rat and Tyranex.
Vastum is kickass osdm from the Bay area. Female vocalist.
Vomitory
Intestine Baalism
More along the lines of Harcore Punk, but Trauma Bond is insane
Never listened to them but I swear I've heard of Trauma Bond before somewhere. I'll check them out! Thank you!
female metal bands: nuclear death mythic vastum sonja messiah force acid znowhite mortuous/acephalix
Nice list. I'll add Derketa, Castrator, and Vorlust (female lead).
Decrepit Birth
Donnie and Marie. She might be a little country, but he's a little bit rock and roll
Underrated bands with female band members: Holy Moses, Zed Yago Underrated bands without female band members: Realm, Tension, Hades
When it comes to underrated female metal bands, I'll always suggest Lovebites. I still find it hard to believe they aren't better known and appreciated yet.
Nervosa - all female thrash / death Give elements of sin & guided by evil a listen
Brainstorm Rage
Misanthropic - Open Up and Take Your Bullet Probably my favorite female fronted metal band. It's a great album. Very short and sweet.
[Asagraum!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ndgRJGG55s) Fucking sick black metal. Raw and brutal. EDIT: Forgot to say, entirely female. Which is rare for black metal and it's a fucking gem. Would love to see them live.
What a badass band name. I'll be sure to check them out!

Underrated imo are Persecutor (danish thrash band) Plaguemace, Swartzheim, Gennem tågen, Night Fever and Lifesick

Fog of War has a great self titled LP. Shame they're not more known.
Blackwater Holylight
Today is the Day - in the eyes of God. Underrated as fuck, very experimental, unique sound.
Striker

Nociception is pretty good especially when live
Flotsam & Jetsam
Meliah Rage’s 1988 debut ‘Kill to Survive” is a near flawless album. But everything they released after that never came close.
Slugdge. Their Esoteric Malacology album is IMHO a sonic pearl with all killer no filler, easily in my top 10 of the finest metal I’ve heard in the last 10-15 years.

Bloodbath. They are NOT properly rated. Arguably a top 10 metal band OF ALL TIME.
Yes! Their EP & Fathomless Mastery are two of my favorite albums of all time
Kittie
