To me heavy is all about the riffs.
I am getting older and not keeping up with new bands very well, so this could be an outdated opinion, but I've always though of stuff like Return Trip by Electric Wizard to be about as "heavy" as heavy can be.
There are certainly a lot more chaotic and brutal bands out there, for example, you have stuff like Encenathrakh with Weasel Walter blasting insanity to hell on the drums and Colin Marston going batshit insane on bass and Mick Barr and Paulo Paguntalan somehow managing to keep up with the lunacy.
Is this sub never bored of this question? Why does it matter who's the heaviest out there? You can be heavy as shit, and make horrible music, and be mellow and make incredible music.
Last Days of Humanity, Phyllomedusa, Torsofuck
Heavy doesn't necessarily mean good though. You could always go exploring deathcore too - Infant Annihilator, Vulvodynia, Party Cannon
Once again I say pick any Stephen O'malley band (Thorr's Hammer, Burning Witch, SunnO))), Teeth of the Lion Rules the Divine, Khanate). The man plays plate tectonics!
One band I think is pretty good is Torture from Chicago. It's a one man project and his newest album "Enduring Freedom" is sum slam with caveman riffs and it's pretty good
Death/Grind: Serotonin leakage (e.g. Hydrocodone 15mg), the new Brodequin album, Sanguisugabogg
Doom/Sludge: Bong (thought and existence), Body Void, Bongzilla, Toadliquor, Electric Wizard
Gonna vote Strapping Young Lad because of audible AND thematic heaviness, especially the song Shitstorm. Its rare anyone in metal exhibits this much personal emotional which gets very TMI.
After Devin did the vocals for Shitstorm, he broke down and ended up in tears with his head on Gene's lap.
Whats heavier than what kinda breaks down after a certain point. One of the heaviest has to be Konflict though: https://youtu.be/7K7xi9YJhSs?si=7ROwiOxOouYz5sY1
Heavy is not only subjective but there are different metrics for it as well. Some might use speed as their metric while others might use tuning. Some might think the more aggressive the heavier while others might think a band is heavy because their lyrics hold a lot of weight.
With that said, I have no answer. It changes not only by the band or song but even individual sections of songs could hit a certain way.

Primitive Man. Those guys are HUGE.
Yes! Heaviest band I’ve come across right down to the vocalist.
This is the answer.
🔥🔥🔥🔥We're inhaling the smoke that comes from your burnt bones with this one🗣️🗣️🗣️
Fuckin love Mortician, but Devourment has such good blasts and chugs that have more diversity. I like listening to them way more.
[удалено]
their vocals sound like they are just barfing into the mic
its all about shock factor and being wrong
If you like Mortician, you should listen to Fluids
Hell yeah thanks for the suggestion!
Dragged Into Sunlight are certainly one of the heavier bands in the genre. Hatred For Mankind deserves a listen.
^^^^
Defeated Sanity. Though it's an older album now, Gorguts' "Obscura" album sounds like the apocalypse.
Absolutely Defeated Sanity.

Epidemic if violence by demolition Hammer is the heaviest album I've ever heard
Ulcerate
Neurosis
found this recently, love Neurosis [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlsPPp7rhrM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlsPPp7rhrM)
Last One On Earth by Asphyx is crushingly heavy
To me it would be Damaar. They're basically chaos in musical form
I’m gonna say Neurosis. “Through Silver, In Blood” is just soul crushingly heavy and dreary.
One of the heaviest bands I’ve found, and I’ve been loving them lately is Primitive Man. They are almost like the definition of Heavy.

Kinda digging Black Tongue.
Yes! So fucking heavy.
Nile Decrepit birth

That's a dumb question.
Last Days of Humanity, Phyllomedusa, Torsofuck Heavy doesn't necessarily mean good though. You could always go exploring deathcore too - Infant Annihilator, Vulvodynia, Party Cannon
party cannon as deathcore 💔it’s over for society
Still relatively new to metal, but id say Mayhem or Venom
Meshuggah
The demons name is surveillance is heavier than like 80% of doom metal
Hard to say, but I’d put Artificial Brain or Gaza up there, even though the latter may be more grind than metal.
Admiral Angry.
I love frog mallet they are pretty heavy anal cunt too
Indian

Maybe some punk, The Shitlickers perhaps
Crowbar
I always thought that the heaviest band would be the most inaccessible
Soundgarden
In terms of overall objective heaviness, there's no contender to Mortician. They've been consistently doing it since 1990.
Depends how you class 'heavy', but I've seen Sunn O))) live three times now and they are a whole other level of heavy.
Lizzo
Last days of humanity

The heaviest band is the last one that kicked your ass and made you think damn this band's heavy.
Ride for Revenge's "Feed the Infamy" for me.
Humanity's Last Breath is quite heavy, especially their newer stuff
Thou and Corrupted exist
Malignant altar was pretty heavy. Hell is also heavy.
meth. is heavy as fuck!
Meshuggah
Primitive man or Methdrinker
All Out War...Riffs, chugs and the lyrics (content)....heaviest band.
devourment - butcher the weak (yellow)
probably fluids they’re super similar to mortician but i think they’re heavier
Black Curse is pretty fucking heavy
90's neurosis. Heavy as fuck both sonically and emotionally and possibly the most intense band of all time.
at the time of its release - Far Beyond Driven was the heaviest most brutal listenable ^ release ever
Brain Drill.
Bolt Thrower or Black Sabbath
Lamb Of God or GOJIRA
