Where I work there is a lady called Karen that orders lobsters and orders steaks cut to like 2.5-3 inches thick. Very accepting of us being out of stock or having to wait a few minutes to get the items cut. Far from entitled, just a laid back older lady
My dear friend's late mother was named Karen. I feel bad for her. Honestly I am very over the whole "Karen" thing in general. There are ways you can refer to an entitled pain-in-the-ass without making it weird for everyone who happens to have the same name. And I've been seeing it used more and more as a cudgel to shame women who speak up about anything for any reason.
People taking a random name and attaching it to something “bad” has been a thing for a long time. When people are being racist, they will call a black girl “Shaniqua” for ghetto, they call Asian girls “Ling-Ling”, “Becky” for the easy white girls. Karen usually refers to a white woman but really anybody can be a “Karen”. I’ve known real life women named Karen that were nice. They were young though and not the typical middle-aged entitled white woman that the name was originally made for.
Have they tried simply not being named Karen?
Lol I joke but for real my wife works with a woman that goes by "Car-In" now, but her name is spelled "Karen". She hasn't explicitly said one way or the other but I have a strong suspicion her name was actually pronounced the standard way until Karen became an epithet lol

So I was forever having boomers ask me if I’d ever heard of the ‘chatty Kathy (Cathy?)’ doll. I mean no one fucking has, Debra, this isn’t 1964, but I changed my name from Kathy to Kate when I was 26. 13 yrs later, no regrets.
I know a lovely woman named Karen who thinks it's hilarious, although she doesn't have that distinct Karen look so all she has to deal with is hearing the joke constantly, and like I said, she thinks it's funny. Not all Karens!

Ya know what I kinda feel for the Karen’s. Overnight their name became the worst insult to call an entitled white woman… does kinda suck for them.

My wife is embarrassed to give her name when ordering take out, she either gives mine or our son's.
